Holland basically said in the interview that Mike wants to make sure he has a good role on the team, Holland sees him as a good third line center for us, and that signing him shouldn't cost us any other players, at least based on the cap hit. I didn't see him throw the first pitch though- they didn't show one.

I have mixed feelings about possibly signing Modano. We get bigger and more talented, but we get slower and older as well. As far as lines go, as much as I'd like to see Abs and Ritola get a chance, the possibility of being able to ice Eaves-Helm-Miller as our fourth line sounds pretty kick ass to me. Also, the prospect of having four players over 200lbs and over 6' (Modano, Holmstrom, Franzen, Bertuzzi) on the first two lines, each centered by Datsyuk or Zettergerg, could be overwhelming to opponents' defense.

The first person I met was Gordie Howe when I was like, 10 years old. He played in a Red Wings Alumni charity game at Iceland arena in Flint, where I used to play hockey. He was giving autographs to people who bought his autobiography. I met him again at the Joe a few month later and went to shake his hand before his security guards told me to leave. Not too fond of Mr. Hockey to be honest. The next person I met was Steve Duchesne at Mexican Lindo in Waterford. I saw him leaving and just yelled, "Steve Duchesne!!" He just turned to me and said, "Heyy!" My friends made fun of me for my reaction lol. I also met Dave Lewis at the BP gas station by my house in Clarkston. I guess Red WIngs players stop by there frequently. I just asked him how Boston was going, and he said, "Great." A few weeks later he was fired lol. He's a pretty tall dude, but he drives a Mini Cooper. I thought that was strange, but my ex gf's dad was huge and he drove one too lol.

Extremely Quick Turnaround (maybe)

The Eagle's greatest hits album is actually the 6th highest selling album of all time. Strange to me, because I don't think I could name a single song. -
Who?

I guess mine would be fairly obvious lol.

Which NIN song best describes the Wings right now?

'Suck,' from the Broken EP lol. -
Yeah it really seems ridiculous at this point to see how much hate there was on Howard and how hyped people were about Leino. Also, people hated on Holmstrom a lot too. Val might not even reach the lowest prediction in points, but injuries have a lot to do with that too.

Man, right when I thought he'd never play again, this happens. I just hope he plays well. I'm just worried that if he takes over for Lebda on the bottom pairing, there won't be enough speed between him and ericsson.

Man where did this guy get his bad attitude from? He put up with being in the minors for a year, had a good season there, earned his chance and now all of a sudden he isn't making the most of it. I feel like there is hope yet for Ville, but damn I'm losing hope.

Someone needs to exact revenge on Shea Weber. That guy's a ****** bag anyway.
-
It's team Sweden's loss imo. I also liked Sammy. The guy is a pretty versatile player.
-
Having a second skilled center is huge for this team. The loss of Zetterberg crippled us and hopefully Flip plays up to his potential when he comes back.
-
I second that. He's not coming back. Why would he come back and make half as much money as he does in Russia, especially when he gets to be 'the man' over there? Good riddance imho. He always looked like a boy among men out there to me. It was like he was about to get run over every time the rush went down the ice, and it felt like the only reason players weren't stealing the puck from him the second he got it was because they felt bad for him, almost like when you let your little brother win.
-
What happened? Damn file wouldn't buffer for me.

Howard is definitely hot right now. He looks big in net and it doesn't look like there are many cracks in his posture (yes I know he let that goal in five hole tonight). Here's to hoping he can keep up the good work!

Franzen to try & rush back for Olympics
LidstromIsASuperhero replied to In Wings We Trust's topic in General
How can you hate Olympic hockey? I think it's awesome to see superstar players playing alongside their countrymen. Each team has their own unique way of playing, and it's like getting to watch several all-star games. Otherwise though, I do hate the olympics, especially the summer games. It's all a bunch of boring crap. -
I like Abdelkader. He is a big body and he crashes the other team's defense like crazy. I wonder if he is the reason we claimed Drew Miller, another MSU guy off waivers. Lol it makes me feel like Babcock has a new thing with former State players. I do think, however that Abdelkader would be better on the wing. He seems to lack the speed to be a truly effective center and his size and quick, hard wrist shot would be better used on the wing along with someone fast like Helm or Draper.

IIRC Kronwall did the same thing the year he blew his knee out early in the season and he did just fine. He even scored a big goal in the tournament. If he can be 100% than he should go for it, or at least go in on the Taxi squad like Kronwall did. How can you not be hyped up about seeing another Red Wing on team Sweden, possibly winning a medal along with Lidstrom, Zetterberg, Kronwall, and whoever else from the wings is going to be on team Sweden? -
One thing that Cam Neely does have on Lindros is the season where he scored 50 goals in 50 games. Granted it wasn't 50 games for the team at that point, but for Neely he only played 50 games that year because of injury so some people still give it to him. 50 goals in 50 games is a huge benchmark for a player to reach.

Call me a homer here but I don't think Crosby or Ovechkin have really played enough seasons to be on that list. Plus, it's hard to overlook the 540 or so points Pavel Datsyuk has put up in the past decade... I think players who have consistently put up huge numbers deserve to be on that list more than two players who have been in the league since 2004-05. Players like Lecavlier (sp?), Kovalchuk, and even Martin St. Louis had a huge season or two. If you're going to put Crosby and Ovechkin that high, you should consider putting Malkin on there too.

Does anyone know if the Olympic hockey games this year will be played on Olympic sized or NHL sized ice surfaces? I remember in the last olympics they used an NHL sized ice surface because it's what the majority of the players used but I haven't heard anything about it yet. This could be an advantage or disadvantage to certain teams. Does anyone have any knowledge or opinions on this?

This is BS. There's no one with a decent cap hit I would even consider trading for Giguere.
