I think y’all need to pump the breaks on ASP. Aside from the fact that he hasn’t played on small ice he also wasn’t a dominant SHL defenseman. He had elite production for is age because he was the trigger man on the powerplay. He was pretty sheltered at even strength and wasn’t even the powerplay QB for his team. He just has a really wicked shot but he’s far from a complete enough defender to play in the NHL anytime soon.

Is he physically ready to play in GR or would he be better off back in Sweden next year?

Part of RayRay's new contract should include muscle mentoring the kids.

Yah, Fabbri and Rasmussen are SO GOOD, that you can't play Berggren.

I could be wrong, but isn't BearGrin just one game away from 80 career games?    Pretty sure that means he has to clear waivers to be sent back down, meaning we'll lose him for sure.

What's worse?  Really pissing the kid and agent off or losing him for nothing?   Wad dup SY?

Missed the game, but just saw the 10 min highlight.

    Seider finally fights.

Pro:   He actually does have hands beneath those mitts.

Con:  Now the league knows he will drop them if they get him riled enough.   I hate losing the kid for 5 minutes, opposition loves it.   He better learn to fight because if the next opponent can actually scrap, Seider could be in trouble.

The one I was interested in was Cade Webber. He refused to sign with his drafting team (canes) and the leafs traded for his rights at this years TDL. Hes due to become a UFA in August. 6'7" Dman. American born, so hoping he rejects the leafs too...

I wonder why he didn't want to sign in Carolina.   If it's because he figured there was a logjam for a job then Toronto would probably be best for him.   I'd love him in the D, but if he looks at SY slow playing all our d specs other than Seider.... and I don't think Stevie would promise him anything.   dang

  4. Jeesh.   We lose Larkin for a spell, lose 5 in a row and then don't commit to any direction at the TDL.

I thought they sucked against theYotes, but look way better, albeit with crappier luck vs Vegas.

I refuse to jump off the cliff.   SY like it or not is leaving it up to the current squad to stay in the hunt and snag a spot.    It wasn't too long ago thatI couldn't care less who we played in the first round, we were going to give whoever a good fight, probably win, and if not at least provide some playoff experience for Mo and Lucas.

Do any fans actually care about original six matchups or is it just a marketing thing?

I could care less the older I get.

I grew up with the original six and then the first expansion in 68?   The newbies were in their own division fighting for the right to get killed in the final against the winner of the existing six.    It was a novelty for me to see the California Golden Seals!

    I'm a fan, not a sports journalist. That's why.

Your writing on here is really bloody good.    That's a shame man, you've got an ace reporters fact resolve combined with a standup comedians shrugging wit.

You don't need the money or it's just not worth it?

I'll say this about Scott Wheeler's attempt, and it might address your comment here. I don't think he really knows what he wants to do with his "prospect pool" articles. Is the idea to tell fans how players are progressing? Is it to introduce them to new prospects? Is it to tell them about players in leagues that might not have access to?

I watch A LOT of hockey. But even then, I'm limited to the NHL and AHL. The rest I have to follow online through box scores and articles. So there's a niche for Wheeler, but he doesn't take it. Instead of telling me the same things about Cossa you said when he was drafted, tell me about Andrew Gibson, Dmitry Buchelnikov, Emmitt Finnie. Sure those guys aren't Edvinsson, ASP, and Kasper but most fans are already pretty familiar with the top prospects (if only because they get the most press on draft day and right after).

The feather in Wheeler's cap seems to be that he talks about a million prospects but that doesn't really mean much if you're not saying anything important about them to the fans.

If I were Wheeler I wouldn't bother "ranking" anyone. And I wouldn't bother with the top 15 prospects on each team. I'd do a series of articles on the 5-7 most intriguing prospects on each team. Tell me why Tre Augustine dominates despite not have a pro sized frame for a goalie. Tell me why Emmitt Finnie isn't getting the same "best player on a terrible team" excuses that Nate Danielson got. Tell me whether Buchelnikov's KHL impact has a good chance of translating to North America. Tell me why everyone who sees him gushes over Albert Johansson but his counting stats look pedestrian. That stuff is interesting.

You're a smart guy, why don't you do it?

I'll pay for a subscription.   Perhaps your niche is exactly what real fans need.   Even Wheeler would pony up.
