For anyone who missed it, this is probably the best Wings clip in years:
Big clean hit, then Simon being completely uninterested in beating up a Sens midget. Almost an annoyed "ok calm down little boy" look.

Unless I was screwing up the jersey #s I thought Wallinder was fairly solid and creative.

If Copp is covering for anyone it's Dylan Larkin. I wouldn't call Dylan trash.
With Copp taking the toughest matchups Dylan doesn't have to focus on shuting down elite 1Cs anymore, and can instead prey on weaker 2Cs. 
With Copp running the PK Dylan doesn't have to anymore, and can instead rest during the PK so he's fresh to go back out and score when it ends.
What I like about Copp is he's a good teammate and soldier who's bought in completely to this system. He's not focused on the dip in his personal stats this deployment causes, he's focused on doing what's the best for the team. And its easy to see why he's willing to make that sacrifice when he speaks. He sees and understands the bigger picture of what's going on. Much like a coach.
Do you wanna get sick stats and be a star, or do you wanna win cups? Copp is the later. 
On him having a coaches mind, he says things i wouldnt expect the average player to say. They asked Kane about Danielson and Kaner said he reminds him a lot of Bedard, the way he shoots and moves with the puck... A very nice compliment, but nothing that insightful. When they asked Copp about Danielson he said oh yeah he could play in this league, he's good, but he's only 180 lbs and he's going to get worn down and hurt. It would better if Nate got up to 195 lbs with his frame and then he would probably be an impactful player for ALL 82 games... thats how a coach or a manager thinks, not a player... he also talked about how hockey is a room full of guys all from relatively the same cultures and backgrounds. But when he played football his teammates were a much more diverse group, and that expierence benefited him in being able to mesh well with others. Again, a much more insightful and reflective thought than what 99% of players think to say. The guy has a good head on his shoulders and is probably someone you want with a letter on their chest. 

All 3 of the top line looked good, although Id like to see Cat swapped for Tarasenko.
Edvinsson looked good.
Outside of the expected Kasper was the best player on the ice. He might not be elite at anything but he does everything at a high level. skating, stickhandling, passing, shooting, forechecking he can do it all. I think hed look great on Larkins wing along with Ray as well.
Lombardi and Johansson showed flashes. I liked what I seen from Soderblom. Finnie continues to impress as a late rounder.
Im as high as anyone on MBN but he didnt stand out liked Id hoped. Hoping for a better showing next game.

Gibson and ASP are two totally different styles, I agree. But there is only 1spot behind Seider for another top4 RHD. And ASP is pretty well pegged for that role.
Gibson might turn out better defensively, but ASP is the blue line puck mover this roster desperately lacks. Eddogg and Mo will do the heavy lifting at defense.
That all I said, I read that, at Preds camp, Gibson actually reached out with his stick and used it to push his defense partner into better defensive positioning lol kid will prolly be a good one.

Larkin in criminally underrated. He played 99% of his career on a historically bad re-building team and has still hovered around a point per game. Then suddenly he's got Raymond, Dcat, and Kane and he's over a point per game. What a surprise. Give the guy actual talent and he thrives, but make him drag around losers like Mantha, AA, Kubalik, and Bertuzzi and he'll get them career seasons doing all the work himself. If we win a Cup with Larkin as the 1C people will suddenly "discover" how good he is, but only after trying to convince us that they were right all along and he's only now "taking it to another level" or something dumb like that.
I've got more respect for Larkin than I do for almost any other current NHL player. Half these "superstars" walked onto teams loaded with top talent (cough...McDavid...cough...Mathews...cough cough...Kucherov). Larks has been like Moses leading his people through the desert. A true leader.

Yep, my only point was that we gave up a lot to move Walman and I'm not convinced Fowler is any better than Walman was. His counting stats are slightly better and his analytics are much worse. He's undoubtedly more expensive tho when you consider we A) gave up Gibson, and B) costs more. If SY went out and acquired Fowler after moving Walman I'd be pretty irritated by the poor asset management.

this aged well. Mo at 8.5×7 is much better than 9.5×8.

The #RedWings have signed Moritz Seider to a seven-year contract with an AAV of $8,550,000.

In other words give up nothing /get something in return for our cap dumps and give up nothing of significant value for a top pairing dman and also get the team to retain half salary?

Most of us probably wouldnt do any of those trades which is probably why Yzerman hasnt made any of the trades so many have been clamoring for. Other teams dont want our scraps and were not getting top of the lineup players for scraps.

It's too bad James Reimer isn't still around. His refusal to wear a jersey which promotes sexual promiscuity and drug culture would have been so inspiring for all of the christian fans.

I can't imagine a world where someone offersheets Lucas for 8.5M per and we don't match.   Chuck the 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Well, of the teams that can afford $11M to $12M x 8 I would gladly take the four 1st round picks as compensation! I am not sure there is any team out there though that would trade four 1sts for Seider. I'd gladly take THREE 1sts from a lottery team. I couldn't say yes fast enough for FOUR!

As far as I can tell.... we get a buyout no matter how the player signs (agreement or forced), and starts 3 days after JV signs and ends 5 days later for a single buyout of a contract valued at 4M or higher.
So we could hear something between tues and thurs I'm figuring.
 

So.... Is Husso the only logical buyout candidate?
 
 

Funny you should mention Zadina... saw some speculation he's going to sign in Europe... figured I'd swing by for a victory lap since I called that too.
I'd rather have Berggren than Laine.  Holl is fine... 

1.  We get Rutger McGroarty from the Jets for a package featuring Bear-Grin and a 25 lotto protected 1st, sliding to 26 if necessary and a 2nd in the opposite year.
2.  Holl is our 3rd best defenseman. 
3.  We finish with the same point total but miss the playoffs by a larger margin.
4.  Mazur is a 2nd half standout.
