This is the worst Ohio State team in over a decade. We get some big playmakers back next week, but I don't see it making a difference. Outside of the defense, everyone from the coaches to the players have been a disappointment.
-
Well, I don't like that we gave up a run without giving up a hit, but with the rainout it seems that we have the pitching advantage for the games in New York.
-
And for a 4th time in 6 years a team from Pennsyltucky is involved. I would absolutely love for a Red Wings-Blue Jackets matchup at Ohio Stadium, or even at Michigan Stadium. But I also think the NHL is missing out. Why haven't the Avalanche hosted one yet? Sure their fans have disappeared, but you know they'd pack whatever they call the new Mile High Stadium. Hell, their name refers to a wintry weather phenomenon. Obviously you're never going to have one in Tampa or Anaheim, but there are cities west of Pittsburgh the NHL should consider once in awhile. Also, I do get to a point the exclusion of Canadian teams since they have their own Heritage Classic each year now.

Wings using a new font on the Jersys?
Hockeytown Red Wings replied to Z and D for the C's topic in General
I was really disappointed to see your name attached as the author of this thread. I avoided reading for days. Now, I'm glad I've finally opened to see that you are not in fact an idiot. Hopefully any new or young Wings fans will see this thread and it'll keep them from creating this annual post. In fact, Matt should just create a sticky thread every preseason saying that this happens every year. Relax. It does look awful, but it reminds of the days of the Toledo Storm who used that font on their Red Wings-styled uniforms. Long live the Storm! -

LIONS WIN! What a comeback! To misquote Rick Jeanerette, "Now do you believe?! Now do you believe?! These Detroit Lions are good! Scary good!". Obviously a lot of bad things from this game early on, but they stepped up in a big way. -
I guess some people handle it different. If we're up 3-0 in a series and the opposing team scores the first two goals of Game 4, my stress level is through the roof.
-
No kidding, I was on the verge of puking for three days straight until we put the hammer down to finish out that series.
-
So do we.

This whole being good thing is really swell. Watching the game yesterday, there are still a lot of areas where we can execute better. Kansas City was gouging us with the running game early. The offense had some 3rd down miscues. There were plenty of opportunities for this game to be an even bigger blowout. But how the hell am I gonna complain about the biggest blowout win in franchise history? Simple answer is, I'm not. -

Pretty much what you said. I know I should be reserved because what have the Lions ever given me? There were good times in short bursts in my younger years with Barry Sanders and some great REGULAR season moments, only to get completely embarassed in the playoffs (we were once down nearly 50 at halftime....that's not a joke). But it's been so long since I've felt any legitimate hope for this team that watching them come together in the last 4 games last season, continue it through preseason, and then kick Tampa's ass in a game that we left a lot on the table...I can't help it. If nothing else, I'm gonna have a lot of fun this year. It reminds of the 06 Tigers in that it was the first time in my conscious life that I saw them do anything. It's slightly mind-blowing to me. We still haven't done anything, and I have pretty low NFL standards, but I can see it happening in front of me. They are improved in every way except for the O-line and there are a lot of improvements yet to come. Finally, I feel like I'll be rewarded for sitting through s***ty internet feeds every weekend. -

Your days are numbered, Packers! I fully expect that the Packers will win the division. If we stay healthy though, I can see keeping the division close. I don't really buy Chicago, but then again, I'm a Lions fan so I don't really trust that this won't completely collapse. -

To be sure we dominated most of the game and probably should've been up 30 points. We went into prevent defense the last few series which allowed them to move the ball. Cherilus is a monumental idiot. Gave Tampa 30 extra seconds on the clock because of a stupid personal foul. But on the whole we looked very good. Only gave up one defensive touchdown. Moved the ball at will on offense. Just need to finish inside the ten yard line and eliminate stupid penalties. -

A pretty dominating half but only up 7. We settle for field goals twice inside the 10 and pick return for a td is a 15 point swing. Still, we're wearing down the Bucs and moving the ball like mad. Keep it up in the second half! And how about a "Let's Go Lions!" chant at a road game? Nice! -

If anyone knows of a stream for today's game, I'd be forever grateful. GO LIONS! -
That was nuts! But you guys still suck Boise at Toledo friday night on ESPN, Go Rockets!

I lost my friggin mind when Cleary scored in Game 7. I was in front of strangers, I didn't care. Agreed, but McCarty's breakaway at the end I think really put a statement at the end of that game. 15 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday.

It was great if you live in Columbus. Everyone was very excited, maybe a little too sure of themselves because of an earlier 8-2 win. I would just say, "regular season?" and laugh. I'm glad we swept them, but I'd rather we didn't play them at all that year. Jacket fans deserve a win. I voted other. 1997 WCF vs. Avalanche has to be mine. They were our biggest enemy, and had we lost the next round I would not feel this strongly, but they were the ones we had to overcome. The "tough" series where we had to grind out wins, and a lot of those games weren't close (Shanny's empty netter in Game 6 was the loudest I thought I'd ever scream for an empty net goal until a little over 5 years later. You know the one. Thanks again Shanny). It was just so satisfying to redeem ourselves. Especially after the year before, when my favorite goal ever was scored in Game 7 vs. St. Louis, and I thought we could take a breath again. I still watch Game 6 highlight over and over. Outside of a finals game, that was so But that's what we get for letting a close series get to 0-3 two years in a row.

As others have said, the back and forth on the reporting if he was or wasn't on the plane is making this worse. Hoping he was with his family and was not on the flight. -

What a tragedy. This offseason just keeps getting worse and worse. -
Last time I checked the score today we were down 4-3 in the 8th with nobody on. Half hour later I see Papa Grande getting his 40th save on facebook. Clutch!

I always piss on the Blackhawks logo. However, my friends think it's funny to send me a picture of themselves urinating on the Red Wings logo every time they are there.

Hope you're not an Arsenal fan. That was ugly. Even uglier than my Spurs getting destroyed by the suddenly-Billionaire Citizens.

I cannot wait for this season to start. There's reason to believe Detroit has an NFL team again. I'm just ready for games that count. I need to see that this is for real. That there is legitimacy behind this hype.
