Isnt it something like sub20% of 2nds play more then 100 games in the NHL? You want to hit on every pick but its just not gonna happen. If ya get 2 top half lineup guys in 1 draft its a successful draft. Seider is already and at least 1 of Johansson/Soderblom should be. Wallinder/Mazur should make it in some capacity. Viros a bust. Zadina/Veleno was KH last draft not SY. Im not sure how you can say Cossa is trending in the right direction. Hes actually trending in the wrong direction with his worst statistical season in the whl. Hes supposed to turn pro next season but I dont know if thats whats best for him. It could be the beginning of a downward spiral if he goes to GR and struggles wouldnt be surprised if he has a sub.900sv% and 3.5+gaa in the ahl next season.

Red Wings have had some bad misses outside the 1st round under SY but so has every other gm. If Johansson-2nd and Soderblom-6th hit he deserves a pass on those other 2nd round misses imo. Thats 3 potential top half lineup players in 2019. Its to early to judge 2020/21 drafts but outside Raymond and Edvinsson there dont seem to be any real standouts imho. Taking Cossa with Wallstedt sitting there wont get a pass from me tho when the entire hockey world knew then and now that the Swede was/is the better g. Take swings in the later rounds which is what hes been doing but you have to hit with top15 picks.

SY has had more hits then misses so far and I hope that continues but I think Cossa over Wallstedt will be his biggest miss. And ya all we can do at this point is speculate.

Thats assuming Cossa puts it all together and Wallstedt doesnt. The Swedish Wall also has the size ability work ethic and attitude to be a top tier NHL g. Im not sure where you get the higher ceiling imo the better goalie playing in the better league has the higher ceiling. Wallstedt has the higher floor and ceiling is the better goalie now and outside of something unforseen will be the better goalie in 5/10/15yrs from now.

Cossa is winning games on a dominant team but hes been far from dominant. .905sv% this past week and .909 so far in the playoffs is hardly worth getting excited over. This is the player equivalent of a 15oa drafted f in his d+1 season at a pt/gp not great. Kinda reminds me of the Rasmusen pick everyone drooling over his size playing against kids. Good NHLer but far from what you want at 9/15oa. He needs to take his game to a different level in the finals if he can get up around the .940 he put up last season thats when you can start talking about being 'dominant' imo.

Wallstedt was the better goalie a year ago leading up to the draft and hes proven to be the better goalie now after his d+1 season. Cossa has good stats on a stacked team playing against kids in a Canadian junior league. Hes had more then a few bad games btw hes had quite a few stinkers this season. Wallstedt has better stats on a good team playing against men in arguably the top league outside of the NHL. Im not sure what you said about Zadina but I called Cossa over Wallstedt a mistake back then and neither goalies done anything to disprove that yet.

Edvinsson will be in Detroit and Wallinder will be in Sweden. Larsson had a solid d in front of him to Seider/Lindstrom/Cholowski/Hicketts/Lashoff/Mcilrath

This is why Cossa will be a bust. If Cossa starts in GR next season it wont be pretty. Expect a Filip Larsson esque season sub .900sv% over 3gaa.

Take off the rose colored glasses. SY can make mistakes and this just happens to be 1 of them. Wallstedt has better numbers in a tougher league projects to be elite 1G. Petty well every expert has Wallstedt ahead of Cossa. You think Cossa will exceed expectations or Wallstedt will fail to meet expectations? or just being a homer?

Would have to be heavy compensation taking Karlsson at 11.5 for 5 more seasons. If they can eat half they might get a good return. Mrazek is still under contract for 2 more seasons.

NHL ready doesnt matter much when your 2-3yrs away. Who will be better in 2-3yrs? Kasper or Jiricek? I trust SY to make the right choice if he even has a choice 1 or both might be gone by 8.
