BarkBurgerman reacted to Neomaxizoomdweebie in 2021 Off-Season (Too Soon?)
I would also argue that the likelihood of signing a Leddy level dman in free agency to a 1 or 2 year deal, at that salary, and then flipping them for a 1st or 2nd at the TDL, is pretty low.
I was, and still am, in favor of signing Suter or Martinez (which still could happen), but if SY wasn't able to sign them, we would be way worse off, if not for the acquisition of Leddy.

Unlike others I have zero problem admitting my original take (trade = unspectacular) was wrong. It took me 5 minutes Friday night to come to that conclusion.
Anyone still bothered by this deal in any way is some type of special.

BarkBurgerman reacted to marcaractac in Seattle Expansion Draft: Who you pick?
We are gonna lose a third pairing dman. There is literally nothing to complain about.

I dont think so. We basically flipped a 2nd round pick this year for a 1st round pick next year, when we trade Leddy at the TDL.
And we flipped Panik essentially for Leddy.
The retained salary just gets Yzerman closer to the salary floor.
Win, win, win

Why dont you like this trade if you wanted to send Svech and the same pick to the Avs for Ryan Graves?
Leddy is a lot better than Graves.

1) Leddy helps us hit the cap floor
2) Leddy gets us a 1st rounder at the trade deadline
3) Leddy helps the team for 3/4 2021-22 season
Yzerman just made another great move.

BarkBurgerman reacted to Dabura in Cholowski Sucks
Cholowski is Kindl 2.0. I can't even be bothered to care.

This is why we protect Stecher and not Cholowski for the exapansion draft.

BarkBurgerman reacted to The 91 of Ryans in Rumors Thread
Yzerman could sign Hamilton, Hyman, and Grubauer + extend Bertuzzi and Vrana at 5.5 per and still have 20M left to spend on 7 - 8 plugs. That's how much space he has. It'll be 6 years before Raymond or Seider will be making the big pay. Larkin ain't getting a raise and it remains to be seen if guys like Htonek or Zadina will ever be more than 5M/per players.
He shouldn't. and won't. But signing Hyman would be to Detroit's cap what one beer was to Andre the Giant. I'm trying to put Yzerman's nearly 50M in cap space into contect here.

BarkBurgerman reacted to LeftWinger in 2021 Draft
I'm officially going on record saying Wallstedt is gone before 6 and Cossa is gone before 22. Forcing Yzerman to acquire Alnefelt and Palat from his old buddy for the low price of a 5th.

I see Blash as that guy in business with a great idea. Builds his company to the point where it's time to go IPO. But after the IPO the board puts someone else to chart the company going forward. Similar I think he might have a way to develop the kids. But when we start moving up the standings I wouldn't be shocked if he is replaced at that point.

BarkBurgerman reacted to kipwinger in 2021 Draft
There’s always some excuse to exclude him that nobody applies to other HoF worthy players. Nobody seems to want to exclude Yzerman from the HoF just because he was never better than Gretzky. Brendan Shanahan never won any individual hardware. Patrick Roy never played behind anything but a great team. Dynasty teams dragged Fuhr and Billy Smith to multiple Cup wins. Yet all of them get the benefit of the doubt.

Iowa Wild had the worst PP% in the AHL last season...
