Wings acquire Adam Erne from Tampa

Well, I trust the opinions of these guys. Sounds like a great deal for us. Plus, look, they have Zadina and Rasmussen in their projected lineup.
  2. So if one of those four make the team, will that make it that much better? Ok, so, if Zadina does blow everyone away and makes the club, what does it do? Moves Hirose down to the 3rd and De La Rose either down to the 4th or scratched. We know Blashill isn't going to scratch one of Abby/Helm/Glenny. So all it does is bump one of Pope/Kuffner/Smith (in my lineup mock) back to GR, which is fine because they are all waiver exempt. But adding Zadina to the 2nd or 3rd line does not make this team THAT much better. I want to see all kids, but we have too many forwards before injury. I'd much rather see a Zadina - Veleno - Rasmussen top line in GR playing 20+ minutes a game. I think Zadina's comments were a reference to whom he was playing with IN the AHL. Sure, he'd like to be here, but he'll have greater success with Veleno as his C rather than wherever he may slot here. Not unless he takes over top 3...plus better success in GR if he gets to play with those two instead of his mates from last season.

Yes, but now he can injure OTHER teams trade assets so playoff teams have no choice but to come calling for Green and Daley and Helm and Nielsen and Howard and..... Ok, ok, I will stop there.
  4. this is how I think it may work out. Disclaimer, unless Zadina just blows everyone away during camp that is. Zadina, Rasmussen, Veleno and Svech all go to GR. Our roster should look like this: Bertuzzi - Larkin - Mantha Hirose - Filppula - AA De La Rose - Nielsen - Erne Abby - Helm - Glenny Turgeon - (one of) Kuffner, Pope or MAYBE Smith to make up our 14 forwards. Having ALL four of those kids in GR for most the year will do wonders for their development and confidence. Plus it may help lead GR to a Calder Cup. Honestly, for a year that is supposed to be a throw away one, that is not too bad of a forward group. It's our D that is going to help us fail to make the playoffs. Which is fine, because some of you feel that this is our year to nab #1 OA. And that would be the official one giant leap for Red Wing Kind.

With the 14/7/2 format, we currently have room for 1 more FWD, IF you count giving Ras and Svech a spot. I feel it will be Hirose as well. I'd personally like to see Zadina and Veleno tear up the A and lead GR to a Calder Cup, if Ras and Svech get sent down, I believe we'll see Turgeon and Kuffner, unless Pope or Smith outplay him. Ehn is a possibility but he is waiver exempt, Turgeon is not. Not that they will be busting down the doors to claim him, but you hate to lose a nice, solid C for nothing. capfriendly.com has still not put the "waiver exempt" arrow next to Svech, and haven't answered any questions about his status. But if you guys say it was mentioned that he is exempt, then we'll go with that. If they all don't super impress at camp, it might be beneficial to have all four down there in GR and bring up Turgeon and another with Hirose. Especially if this is a blow-off season, why waste any of those 4 on a 4th line? Let them all lead GR to Calder Glory. Since the last post sent us to page 2, I will re-put this on page 2 so it doesn't get lost. Not a bad signing IMO. If he gets 20-30, it's a hell of a bargain!

    1 Year, $1.05M not bad...

All in due time, all in due time...they will be in the NHL soon enough. This is a blow-off year, it's been pretty evident. Next year, the kids will start taking over (especially on D) by making appearances throughout the season and then in two season's you'll have your wish 100% in the NHL for all three of them.

plus if he re-signs for 3 years, its another player that Yzerman can leave exposed to Seattle or trade to for expansion draft considerations.

Ya, its not like he is going to play a lot this year anyhow. It seems like every year recently he gets injured.
  10. This meas that the Yzerplan for 2019 isn't over. Svech to Carolina for a pick Helm to Edmonton for Puljujarvi AA, Berggren, 1st round to Columbus for Werenski. ( I know, I know, but until he signs I am holding out hope!)

Could be a favor to Tampa so they have one less RFA to sign over Point.

Ya, very interesting to see why this move was made. Not unless a deal is upcoming shipping out a couple of forwards...but how many times have we speculated that only to not have one done? Ras, Veleno and Zadina all to start GR? DLR still injured? Trade for Werenski coming? I guess we'll see what comes of this...

In all honesty, something tells me Gardiner just found a job.

    We can only dream....
  15. If we have healthy Ericsson, Daley and Green all year, the D IS going to s*** the bed. The goaltending duo of Howard and Bernier have already fallen apart. That has to be the worst starting 2 G's in the NHL. I hope Pickard wins the job from Bernier and we waive him. Howard is nothing more than a bandaid starter. Hopefully one of our drafted kids shows up soon and Howard can back him up. We haven't replace Fershweiller yet, but there are still 2 Assts under Blashill, so I am not sure if we are replacing him.

    Larkin for the C

can't wait to see: Lafreniere - Larkin - Mantha Zadina - Veleno - AA realistically, though, Bertuzzi on the top line, but the rest all the same. There will be a 40 goal scorer and 100 point netter amongst them soon enough. Maybe more than one! I love AA and I love Mantha. It's silly to compare them, they are two different players. Mantha is more of the power forward type and AA a sniper. It's simple, they are both good, soon to be great, they are both what we need. They fill two roles. In a couple of season's, the better debate will be AA vs. Zadina. Could you imagine this team if Mantha, AA and Zadina were all 40 goal scorers and Larkin and Veleno were 100 pointers?
  17. He is in his 5th contract season this year, in a "few years" he'll be signed somewhere else or un-signed. There are too many C's ahead of him now who are better fit to fill the 4th role. I am more inclined to believe Smith will make it before he does. But ya, having the likes of DLR on this team hurts his chances for sure. Now if Turgeon can switch from C to Wing, maybe he has a better shot, but the C-W-C debate is for another thread!
  18. To be fair, McCarron also signed a new contract this off season with Montreal.

    2019-20 Prospects Thread

I honestly believe Seider starts in GR this season. Hronek is here and when the inevitble injuries to Ericsson, Daley and Green happen, Cholowski and Seider will be getting the callups, but remember, Seider can only play 9 games so we don't burn one of his years.
  20. Yes, I would like to see that. For this reason here. I am sure Turgeon would LOVE to be dealt to the MTL Organization, and McCarron the same here. When the players like Abby, Helm and disney.com are gone, I'd much rather see McCarron here in a 4th line role than Turgeon. For no other reason to see a local kid play for his hometown team. PLUS, you never know what could happen. Imagine the might behind a line with McCarron and Rasmussen? Big boys!

    2020 Offseason Rebuild Thread

I mean, he's outscored Matthews the last 2 seasons, last season by 21 points. I know he's played about 40 more games though, but Toronto gave Matthews all that money, now they're going to have to pay even more for Marner. $10.75M is a ton of money over 7 years, I'm thinking Marner's camp wants Matthews money if not more...and if we're going by points I guess he deserves it. Honestly I love it, I am SO not a fan of that franchise in the slightest bit.

Nah, you two are just having a conflict of opinions ATM, once the season starts and gets near December, the universe will be aligned back to normal.

    2020 Draft Thread

This has been a heated debate at times here. My only input is, IF we are lucky to get #1 OA (which we won't be) we'd draft Alexis BECAUSE he is the BPA AND he is a winger. Moving forward, we will have Larkin and Veleno as our 1/2 C's. Even in 3 years Detroit will have plenty of bottom 6 C's to fill the roster. Rasmussen is a natural C as well. I think if Alexis was our pick, he'd stayed a LW and play on the top line with Larkin and Mantha. I mean, who would argue with this as a top 6 in 1-2 years? Lafreniere - Larkin - Mantha Zadina - Veleno - Athanasiou Hirose - Rasmussen - Bertuzzi ...we have plenty of players to make even a competitive 4th line. I didn't even include Svech in the top 6. My only issue is, in 4-5 years, that is going to be a Cap breaking lineup, so we'll probably be without a couple of those guys by then.

    2020 Offseason Rebuild Thread

I can understand that, but what really doesn't make sense is they plat two different positions. I am wondering why Marner (a forward) would dictate what Werenski (a D) makes? Also, Toronto will need to utilize LTIR to even sign Marner, so that won't happen until the season starts, right? Is Columbus going to wait until then as well? I mean is everyone waiting for Marner? You have Werenski, Laine, Boeser, Tkachuk, Zacha and Point all of whom should have contracts by now. I get it, nobody wants to get screwed, or screw the other by taking a lessor contract, but whichever side is dragging their feet, it has to be pissing off the other side! Marner - Toronto has upwards of $13M in possible LTIR, should be no problem signing him when able. Werenski - Columbus $15M in cap space, should be done already Laine - Winnipeg $17M in cap space, both he and Conner should be done already. Tkachuk - Calgary, $7M in space, again, this should already be done, he isn't getting $7M AAV Zacha - New Jersey, $8M in space, see Tkachuk. This should be done Boeser - Vancouver, $5M in cap. This is the only team of the mentioned ones, that may have a cap issue. But is $5M the going rate for an RFA coming off an ELC? He did have a 56 and 55 point seasons the last two, so maybe it is. Point - Tampa has $9M in cap space, I can see him and Marner getting similar, but more than $9M? I guess maybe so, but wow! Lockout here we come!
