  1. ya, depth G, depth D and depth F. I think that's it for the day.
  2. oh, there's anger. thus far the entire Yzer-plan has been confusing. but since it's not Holland, I guess we'll withhold our outbursts until we see where exactly Steve is headed with this.
  3. where is Filppula gonna slot? AA to wing?
  4. they won't be moved at the deadline. we'll have the crappiest D in the NHL again, nobody will want them. but hey, we're getting an AHL goalie. That'll make us more competitive. keeping the D we had last year gives zero room for young players or heaven forbid a UFA who's better than our D. Dekeyser - Green Ericsson - Daley Kronwall - Who cares. Toledo has a better D than that. ugh.... couple that with the worst starting goalie in hockey, we're in for a fun season to watch, only to get f***ed out of a lottery win again.
  5. so, buyout period is over and we still have Ericsson and Daley.
  6. .I'm sure glad we didn't trade Yzerman after 2 or 3 years of being the most dynamic player on this team. You don't trade your young guns, period. You draft and develop. If Yzerman was going to trade AA for a #1 D man, he would've drafted Cozens or Zegras at #6, instead of who he feels is going to be his #1 D Man in the near future. You "core" D is pretty set to develop right now, if, down the line a couple of those D don't work out, he'll just draft another. At this point, I say just develop your D core of Hronek, McIssac, Cholowski and Seider. Again, the ONLY way I trade AA, or anyone from our core, is if they become super diva and cause a problem all the time when they're contract is up.
  7. He is our most dynamic scorer, quite easily the fastest man on the team. Sure he has value, but he is even more valuable to us to keep. The ONLY way I trade him is if he starts with the holding out/going to Arbitration crap. Signifying him long term is priority ONE. If Yzerman was that interested in trading him, we'd have Trouba or another #1 D right now. No question.
  8. if only he'd Target Ericsson, Daley and Nielsen.
  9. just say no to Nyquist.
  10. there's an expansion tool on capfriendly that shows you all the players you'll have to chose to protect or not. Obviously if the player(s) aren't still on our team come 2021, capfriendly.com will be changing the list as the rosters change, but right now in the 7/3/1 format, we won't have a problem having to protect Zadina. As it sits now, I only see 5 Forwards and 2 D that are currently playing and need to be protected, the rest are easily left unprotected. Of course if Yzerman signs a UFA or 2 or makes some deals, then that changes too. Zadina will be in his 3rd year pro by then, so he will need to be protected, so make it 6 forwards. Larkin, Bertuzzi, Mantha, AA, Rasmussen and Zadina. Cholowski, Hronek Not sure who the goalies will be in 2021 so we're good there. Basically any player with 2 or less PRO season's does not need to be protected. (Veleno, McIssac, Hirose, Kaski and anyone else who goes pro this season.)

    2019 Draft

It just tells me that Yzerman was not on the Broberg Train, or he would've traded back to 10 and if Holland took Seider, then he just would've taken Broberg. But instead he just took Seider. Thats it, that is probably his reasoning. He wanted D, wasn't impressed with Broberg, and didn't have any other D ranked high enough to draft at 10. He didn't want to gamble and make the Vancouver trade and risk Holland taking Seider. Funny, I've seen on Twitter some so called "experts" giving The Red Wings a grade of D- or F when it comes to the draft. Relax experts, nobody drafts in accordance with you. Here's a comparison. I can image what our "grade" was after the 1989 draft. Pretend you all don't know how 1989 turned out for us and then loo at it like you're looking at the 2019 draft. Keep in mind Russians were never going to come over to the NHL, especially defecting from The Red Army. Sure, Mike Sillinger was probably the BPA at #11, considering his stats, and despite playing so many games, he never brought these stats to the NHL: Bob Bougher had some impressive stats as well for a D, but again, never really translated to the NHL and never played a single game in Detroit, and never an NHL games until 1995-96. Here are his junior stats: ...and considering Nick Lidstrom's stats were not "wham bam, thank you ma'am" nobody probably thought that he was on an outstanding pick either: ...again, The Russian's were never going to come over, so The Wings probably got laughed at when they chose Fedorov and Konstantinov. But look at this draft and tell me that it wasn't graded much higher than a D. Dallas Drake being one of thoise late round steals (too bad, not all 1000 games for the Red Wings though.) Of course, everyone in the world knows how it turned out after 20 years! In hindsight this was an A++++++++ draft. Here's to hoping that a few of our picks this year make 2019 a home run as well! I,like many of you preferred somebody else at #6. I was really hoping for Cozins since he was there, but who's to say that Seider isn't (not saying he's Lidstrom) another Lidstrom? When Lidstrom was drafted, see above, his stats didn't scream 7 Norris Trophies, 4 Stanley Cups, 11 All-Star Games, over 1500 games played, number retired....you get where I'm going. Let's just see which direction Seider is going within the next 3-4 years before everyone calls Yzerman a moron. Ya?
  12. I am going to amend a little bit. Thinking more about it, I would love to see one big splash! Whether that be Panarin, Duchene or Lee, Dzingel. I'd like to see a small splash like a Simmonds, Johansson or Tanev. Again, on D, there isn't much, Stralman would be a nice addition plus I hope Kronwall plays to get him to 1000, its only 47 games and it would be a nice end to his career. Then his number can be retired along with #40, #13, #30 and #91. Yes, I went there! Again, I now this is beating a half dead horse, but we need to rid this team of Ericsson and or Daley. Daley has to have some kind of trade value, and Ericsson can just ride the press box as the 7th or 8th D guy if we cannot trade him or won't buyout/wave him. We have $22M in cap space with Z and Franzen LTIR. If Green goes on LTIR (which I read in a St. James article that his season could be in question) then that frees up even more space to utilize if needed AND another roster spot back there. Stralman - Hronek Cholowski - Kaski Dekeyser - Bowey Kronwall I didn't put Seider there because I think I heard something about playing one more year in DEL so he can finish high school? Maybe something like that... I was also thinking about it, if Hronek continues to develop in to a legit top guy, we really may not need to waste money on Krug or Trouba sweeps next year. Oh, don't get me wrong, it would be awesome to have either of those guys, but I am just thinking salary savings. In a couple of years, Cholowski and Hronek are going to cost us enough! I'd offer 7 years to my big splash list up top, 2-3 years on the small splash guys and 3-4 to Stralman (or similar D.) 1 year to Kronwall for 1000 games.
  13. I know we're not looking to build through UFA, but landing someone like Panarin would really accelerate a return to glory. I mean, sure, we have our young guns that (hopefully) will be here 20 years, but getting it going now with an elite talent can only help. What if after this season one of our players makes it hard to re-sign and Yzerman trades their rights? Having a Panarin on this team would more than make up for that loss. Yzerman has already gone out of the box in draft day, let's destroy the box on the 1st by shocking everyone agsin! Why not?
  14. if, indeed, part of the Yzerplan is to sign a UFA or 2, here are a few names I'd like to see him throw an offer at to see if it sticks: FWDS: Anders Lee Wayne Simmonds Ryan Dzingel DEF: None really. I'd like to cut ties with E and Daley though! (shocker!) and then let the young guns take over. If I had to get a vet because E, Daley are gone and Green is on LTIR, I'd first talk to Kronwall, if not, then maybe: Ben Chiarot Jake Gardiner Jordie Benn Anton Stralman Who would you like to see get an offer?

    2019 Draft

no, he left in October. The "Story " is that Holland started talking to him in March about becoming GM. Which I feel is hogwash. I believe this ball was rolling way before then.

    2019 Draft

sorry to disappoint you, but I would've reacted very similar if Holland were still drafting here. As a matter of fact I even made reference to our picks asking if we're sure Holland isn't still drafting for us. You'll have to forgive me, but I'm not, as you say, bats*** crazy anymore and over the last year have come to realize there is way more to life than this. I try to enjoy Red Wings for sure, but there is so much more important things to get (or not get) upset over. Please, enjoy your day! IMHO I believe Yzerman was scouting players for Detroit from the day he left Tampa. This was in the works way before March.
  17. I'm not sure who he'll target. I think he may contact Simmonds. Maybe he'll try to hit a homerun with someone to speed up the build. I honestly hope he inquires into Pullijarvi (I know I hacked that spelling up!) and somehow gets rid of Ericsson and Daley. I'm thinking Green hits LTIR sometime around December. To be more competitive would you take on Perry for 2 yrs $4M total?
  18. Dekeyser just may wind up being #7 on this team soon!
  19. after watching this, I get the feeling Yzerman will not be seeking any defense via trade or UFA in the next couple of years. I have a feeling that he feels he has his top 4 core for the future in Cholowski, Hronek, McIsaac and now Seider. as the Green's, Ericsson's and Daley's move out after this season, this players will be establishing themselves as his legit top 4. Add to that Kaski and Bowey in the 5 and 6 spot, I guess within a year or 2, we'll have a D lineup that is set. we still have the others he drafted along with the guys Holland picked last season and Lindstrom and Sarijaarvi.

These are the kind of things I hope to see out of Yzerman soon. soon, like now! Sure, we are further behind (NOW) than the Devils on our rebuild, but look at what they did thus far. Even the Rangers. I thought YZerman was coming in guns blazing. Obviously we have no clue of what goes on behind closed doors, but honestly, I think we could've bettered New York's return for Trouba and we probably could've made some draft moves to obtain more picks. I guess there's always summer trades that get us some 2020 picks, but I am beginning to think that we aren't gonna hear even a drop in the water when it comes to moves from Yzerman this summer. If Marleau is indeed getting bought out, I would've loved to have Toronto's 1st round pick (20 or 21) in exchange. We're obviously not using our buyouts on Ericsson or Daley, so what would it have hurt to obtain another 1st round pick? according to capfriendly, you'd pay his $6.2M cap hit in full this year and the hit would be $0 next year. We have $21M in cap space this season. To me, that would be worth the 1st round pick. But maybe Toronto did not want us to have their 1st? Not sure.... I hope Yzerman is in talks with Holland about Pulljarvi (spelling) and maybe Carolina about Faulk. I just want to see action because I was so use to non-action from Holland (until the last couple of TDL's) I am waiting for our Saviour to hit the ball!

so far, New Jersey is winning the off season. Landing PK was big for them. Hughes will no doubt make them better. Both of those additions should help convince Hall to sign an extension.
  22. did I miss it, or did Tag not get drafted yet?
