missed that part. i guesss yzerman didnt want to waste a buyout on him? Is he gonna use it on Ericsson or Daley? Is he gonna use one at all? We are all in Yzerman's court, but there have been a few things that has had us scratching our heads, that's for sure. -

He has a NMC, he controlled where he went. There is no way he'd waive it to come to a rebuild. -

Devils looking good. Marleau had a NMC, he wasn't coming here thats for sure. Now what does Toronto do with the cap space? I am kinda waiting to see if we get involved in any of this...please? -
Nick Lidstrom was pretty physical? what time does the 2nd start?

6/21 Choose Your Fighter GDT - 2019 NHL Entry Draft 1st Round - 8:00 PM EST
LeftWinger replied to Dabura's topic in General
was just catching up with the 1st round and I see that Tampa drafted Nolan Foote. Brothers will get to play together, that's always cool. -
since more users are in this thread, I'm gonna repost this here. satisfied. I was a little disappointed with Cozens still there, also wondered why Yzerman didn't deal with Vancouver and pick Seider at 10. either Yzerman seriously felt he would be picked by 10 (maybe Holland) or Vancouver balked at paying Yzermans price to move up. Too bad for Vancouver because they didn't get their guy. Should've paid the price! Anyhow, this kid is huge. he also says he has a couple of "outs" in his contract. could we see him in Detroit in October? Could this be the end of Ericsson and or Daley? Maybe Green is gonna go LTIR with his virus issue? How does this D look to continue a rebuild? Cholowski - Hronek Kaski - Seider Dekeyser - Bowey

and it was gonna cost AA and our #6 for Trouba or similar from others, until it didn't. anything can happen, you don't have to be crazy to believe that. just when you think you have things figured out, it's all turned upside down. But thank you for reminding me what's more important.

I'm not the one who needs the severe cap relief. if they don't want to entice me to give them relief, or 29 other teams, they can stay over the cap and be forced to waive someone. I don't need Stastny, they need cap space.
-
I missed where they said Callahan was off. But I'd take Marleau and a top prospect, also I'd be in on Stastny. edit: NM, I see Tampa did the ol' LTIR with Callahan. Aka, they did The Hossa.
-
SN960's Chris Johnson feels that Vegas will move one of Stastny or Pacioretty to clear cap. if they included the #17 pick, would you take 2 years of Stastny? Or maybe move him again at the TDL... best 2 way center in the draft? I'm listening....

2019 Offseason Rebuild Thread, Pt. 2 - What's the Yzerplan?
LeftWinger replied to Dabura's topic in General
That's fine, $$$$$$ no Cups, it's his (girlfriends) choice. But when Detroit is competing for Cups soon, as Rags fall victim to Cap issues, then we won't want him at 32 years old as a UFA. But I agree, it is every players dream to make money playing the sport they grew up playing. It is what it is. Who's next? Krug as UFA? -
Ok, so we have Larkin as our #1. If Veleno continues to project as our #2, and then Yzerman drafts a C (Zegres maybe) does that mean AA is back to wing, or is he trade bait for a top D? Honestly, for a team looking to cut cap and are offering theoir 1st round PLUS to do so, what do you think we could get in return for AA and the #6? I've put in the pick, so go ahead and add the player(s.) from Vegas: #17, from Tampa: #27, from Nashville: #24, From Arizona: #14, from Toronto: (Toronto does not have a 1st, so it would be young players) from Edmonton: #8,
-
I get it, but if 3 or 4 of the 7 kids he likes are still projected to be there at 10, then take the BPA of that bunch.
-
none of us are! I wouldn't want to trade AA personally, but if it seems it'll be hard to re-sign him, I would try: to VAN: AA, #6, #66 to DET: Hughes, #10, #40. (this is, of course, after shooting for the moon asking for Hughes and #10 for #6)
-
Picture THESE awesome draft day trade scenarios: to VAN: 2019 6th overall pick to DET: 2019 10th, 2019 40th, Jett Woo to TPA: 2019 5th Round Pick (much needed cap relief) to DET: 2019 27th overall, Ryan Callahan to VEG: 2019 6th round pick (MUCH MUCH needed Cap relief) to DET: 2019 17th overall pick, David Clarkson contract Detroit trades the #6, #143, #159 acquires: #10, #17, #27, #40 giving them THREE 1st round picks, FOUR 2nd total. This is really not out of the realm of possibility. Even if Jett Woo wasn't part of the Vancouver deal, this would be a hell of a haul for Yzerman and The Detroit Red Wings. Although thinking about it, Clarkson is LTIR, so it doesn't impact their cap, but Vegas sure as heck needs relief! Maybe there is somebody else we can take of their hands? There should be a few BPA's at 10 then. Maybe he likes 6-7 of them, the top 2 (assuming those are Byram and Cozens) are gone, maybe he'd still accommodate Vancouver and still have a player he likes at 10. If Caufield is one of those players, he will probably still be there at 10.
-
Ok, let's say Yzerman WANTS to draft a D, Byram is gone before 6, so would you deal with Vancouver if the exchange was #6 for #10, #40 and Jett Woo? Then draft best D available at #10?
-
Here's how it goes, I trade my #6 pick to vancouver for the #10 and Quinn Hughes, then I draft Cole Caufield at 10.
-
I didn't make up the scenario that Vancouver is gunning for out #6 pick, I just said if they feel that it's so important to get to #6 and get "their guy" they are going to have to pay up to get it. Bottom line, Hughes and their 1st for the #6, if not, enjoy your pick. the thing is they are the one after our pick! That puts us in the drivers seat. I can see your scenario happening IF we were the ones asking them to swap picks for the extra 2nd, but they are the ones wanting out pick, we set the price, not them.

Honestly, ya it was good to watch, but I lived through it live, and heard all the stories about how they came here right when or after they happened. I watched live on TV the whole Fedorov defection, and knew of the fake Vladdy injury, along with Kozy's car accident. I watched Red Army, so I already knew the entire Festisov and Larinov stories. I was a little bit disappointed in it. I know this is an unpopular opinion, but after it was over,I felt like I just watch an extended fan video on YouTube. Yes, there were some things and interviews that I did not see back then, and that is what made it good, but it still felt like a YouTube video. Sorry, that is just my opinion.

Is his dream making money or winning a Cup? Because he isn't winning a Cup with The Rangers in the next 8 years that is for sure. Enjoy that woman though! He should've asked Suter how that worked out for him... -
The ONLY way I swap 6 for 10 is if Quinn Hughes is coming back with the #10. If that sounds like too much to happen, then oh well, I keep my #6. You wanna play, you gonna pay!

This helps us, because (with Z and Franzen) we have about $23M in cap space, if it's only $81M then we still have $21M, we are open to take on some 1 year big contracts that include some high drafts picks with them. I'll take that 1st round from Tampa in order to relieve them of Callahan please.
