I love these chics.

That's funny. I used to work right up Cahuenga from Wang's at Amoeba Music. All the sports fans on the Amoeba crew go here to watch games. It is loud, rowdy and has hot waitresses. I don't drink and don't care for most L.A. sports fans so I never go there to watch any game I actually care about (aka Wings games). I'll we watching at home after work on the DVR in Hi-Def. Wings in 6.

I have never been a fan of the "(whoever) Sucks" chant. And I have always been proud that they don't engage in this at the Joe. I attend lots of L.A. kings games and they do the "(whoever) Sucks" chant every game no matter who they are playing. And rarely if ever do they chant for their own team ( I know, who can blame them). But I always felt if you are chanting a team or players name, even to say they suck, you are bringing attention and energy to that team or player. Now, that said........ I loved the "Crosby Sucks" chant at the Joe last night (though "Crosby's a *****" would have been more accurate). Perfectly timed and completely appropriate. My favorite taunting chant at the Joe ever was in game 7 of the 2002 Western Conference Finals vs the Av's. After Roy was pulled, because he was lit up by the Wings, the Joe crowd started chanting "We Want Roy" as he sat pouting on the bench. Classic. Wings in 6.

I don't waste my time going to other teams boards, but my guess is there is no way the pens board would be cool w/ Wings fans starting threads w/ this type of sh!t about their players there. Get this guy the hell outta here. Go Ossy!

Replace Washington with Detroit and this looks about right for tonight. Just like in game 7 against Was, ZERO penalties on Pitt. I saw this coming a mile down the road. In Pitts, on Versus (fewer witnesses), Wings up 2-0. I expect at least two 5 on 3's for Pitt in the 1st alone. Gary has to make sure it's not a sweep. He can't have the Stanley Cup presentation broadcasted on Versus. What a Joke.

Thanks for the article. I alway wondered who does the music at the Joe because it sucks so damn bad. I love the Joe, but the music has long been my only complaint. Some of the gimmicky stuff he does is cool. But he's way stuck in the past, plays nothing even remotely heavy EVER, and he slips in some seriously bad songs at odd times. If I hear the Violent Femmes 'Blister in the Sun' one more time at the crucial point of a game I am gonna scream. I say, listen to the Thompson Twins at home "T." On nationally televised games it is embarrassing sometimes. ed. sp

Well put. It's still Gary's world, the Wings just play in it. One or more of these ref's will end up screwing the Wings. Using Dirty Dan again would have been to obvious. McCreary is pretty fair. But one of these zebra's will be standing up on the grassy knoll waiting to wave off a goal.

Man I am so glad someone finally said this. I have felt this way for more than a decade. They do play some cool things that cleverly describe the action. But every other song is some super weak random 80's new wave or disco that makes you stop and ask, "Why the hell are they playing this?" I felt that way when I lived in Detroit all through the 90's and used my parents season tickets to go to games. When I moved out west I got the center ice package to keep up with the Wings. But the more I watched other teams broadcasts and heard the music in more buildings...the worse the music at the Joe sounded in comparison. Don't get me wrong I LOVE the JOE. I try to hit a game every time I am in town to visit family. Almost every other arena plays better music than the Joe. They need more Van Halen. In Philly everytime they score they throw down the end of Van Halen's "Ain't Talkin Bout Love" and the whole crowd cheers "Hey Hey Hey!" If they're are gonna play stuff from the 80's hows about old Metallica. I swear during national broadcasts it's embarrassing. There have been times in the middle of boring games in the middle of the season when I'll notice a song come on and they will end to repair the ice or something and the song will stay on a little longer then usual and it will be some out there wimpy cheesy song (it's late I wish I could think of an example) that will make me go "This person has to be slipping that song in to mess with people. There is no way ANYONE is enjoying that song." I know taste is relative. If it was up to me they would be playing nothing but real Detroit music like The Stooges and MC5. But at least for Pete sake knock of the Wang Chung and Kool & The Gang and play some more Aerosmith, AC/DC, Led Zeppelin, The Who, The Stones. I know a lot of people don't even notice music and of all things to complain about.... But it has bugged the HELL outta me for years and I am just glad to hear someone else say it. They got a new guy to announce the goals (regulating Budd Lynch to more low-key annoucements) I say it is time to modernize the music at the Joe. Beacuse the guy the have had for the last 2 decades is cheesy and weak. And that's all I have to say about that. GO WINGS! :skull: :rockstar: :skull: :skull:

We had a pot luck lunch at work today. And I brought something special for all the duck fans.

Go Canes. Bring on the 2002 rematch. Even though I still don't like that franchise being moved to Carolina... There are a lot of guys on that team and in that organization that I have a ton of respect for. And Karmanos is a classy dedicated owner who is a good Michigan guy that has given back a lot to Southeast MI supporting Junior hockey as well as with his cancer center at Wayne State. Plus I hate the Pens. And hell, the Canes are yet to lose a Play-off series with Ward in the net. So they should be about due by the time they get to the Cup Finals versus the Wings.

CAN NOT WAAAAAIIIT! This series is a dream. And should be a ratings bonanza for the NHL. I will working for 4 of these possible games. But that's what DVR's are for. Not gonna miss an Original Six High Def Minute.

I wish the duck fans I know out here were as cool and classy as DG. I was back in Detroit last month during round and when I came back to work my entire cubical had been desecrated with about a hundred duck print-outs. People kept asking what I was going to do for revenge. And I kept saying that I would let it be settled on the ice. Despite the constant further harassing. However...now that it's over... tomorrow just so happens to be our work pot luck lunch. And I made a call and am getting up early and making the drive to pick up a whole roasted duck to bring to the pot-luck. I will post pics. Sorry to go off topic on your thread DG.

I was watching this ustream feed at work. I was really happy to hear Ken & Mickey again. I live in L.A. so I have had to watch the lousy duck feed most of this series. However, the ustream feed went black on me just as the 3rd period was starting. And nothing I could do would bring it back. It just said "off air". Luckily at this point it was after 6:00 and I only live 10 minutes from work. I didn't know what the crappy duck radio station was so i just drove like a maniac and got home to see it had been tied 3-3. And I was holding my 7 month baby boy, Hunter, in front of the TV when Cleary scored the game winner. So all's well that ends well. By the was the Wings have not lost a play-off round since Hunter was conceived. I call him my Mojo.

The Caps didn't need Dan's help blowing game 7. They handled that on their own. However, it is plain for all to see that Dan O'Hallowrong is the Tim Donaghy of the NHL. Ed: sp
