Called DirecTV today just to make sure and they say Center Ice is good to go. They even have their Center Ice broadcast schedule on their web site. I bought an HD LC TV and DirecTV HighDef receiver w/ DVR over the summer. I am soooo ready for hockey!

According to various sources, the NHL Network U.S. already has a control center already up and ready to go in Washington D.C. The major obstacle that must be overcome before actual launch is that the NHL wants the network to be paid for by the customer as part of an expanded sports tier. How many cable and satellite companies are willing to make this arrangement is unclear at this time. There is also the backdrop of ongoing problems between some cable providers and NFL Network over carriage terms.

I get all my sports news from the internet. Every so often I'll put on SportsCenter in the back ground. But after about 20 minutes of listening to them drive the same stories into the ground over & over, I lose it. I can stomach NFL network easier. But hockey on U.S. television is an urban myth.

Too Hell with the leafs. I voted on 6 different computers everyday at work to help put the leafs down. I hate the devils too. Just hate the leafs more and for a longer time.

The '55 Wings did win a Cup wearing the C & A's on the right. But it does look wrong. And I hate the fact that it was done simpley because bettman is a pompous ass. And I don't know how I feel about being the only team in the league wearing letters on the right. But over all the new jerseys are ugly. Especially with that tapering at the bottom. And I will never buy one. I got the # for the league office in NY out of my NHL Official Guide & Record book and left a voice mail stating my displeasure for gary. Won't change anything. But I felt a little better. Seeing as my longdistance package let's me call all I want for the same price I think I might make it a habit.

I say, "Let's Win it for Hasek". This is most likely his last season. And besides Nick, Dom was our best player last season. Sure he already has his name on the Cup once. But a guy like Dominik certainly deserves one more and to go out on top. So let's win one more for the Dominator.

I don't know about comcast. However this will be my 9th season with CenterIce through DirecTv. But it will be my 1st season with HD. And from what I understand the majority of all teams games will be broadcast in HD. I guess I will find out soon. (Just not soon enough) Either way CenterIce is truely a life saver for me.

I really think Selami will retire. But I would love it if he signed somewhere other than behind the orange curtain with the donald ducks.

The Isles signing Sutton finally squashes this rumour. I wouldn't be against the Wing's paying Markov the same $3 Mil the Isles paid Sutton.

Whatever they do they need more solid D-men. Niiniima, Cairns, Markov, whoever. I worry they are passing on solid D-men to keep money open in-case petr forskin decides wants to come to detroit to spend another NHL season on the IR.

It's all the awful cheapskate owner's in the NHL that bring down the over-all value of the league. The Wings are so blessed to have a owner like Ilitch. If every owner supported their team the way Mike does, the NHL would be huge.

This first full season with Savard behind the bench will be crucial. They came out of the gate so strong the first couple weeks last season. Havlat was #1 in the scoring race for a while. And then all those injuries hit them. They desperately need to stay healthy this season. People in Chicago don't even know that team exists. Hopefully Savard can use Kane and some of their other youngsters to make that team exciting and tough to play against again. Success in a market like Chicago is vital to the NHL in the States.

Lidstrom just need to become the 1st ever european Captain to lift the Cup this season to solidify his status as the greatest euro NHLer of all time.

Bowman was happy to be able to retire on top right after winning that last Cup. Unless the leafs gave him total control and alot of promises, I just can't see Scotty coming back to try and clean up that mess. As for Stevie going? That is not even worth typing a response. It's just not happening.

Dom is such a maniac. I am so glad he is coming back this season. Can't wait to see him in that 1st game vs. the ducks. Dom was my favorite goalie long before he ever came to Hockeytown.

No kidding. That's about the only thing I've heard that makes me feel a little better. Cause I have been dying. Living in L.A. I have plenty to keep me busy. But I still hate Summer just cause it's way to hot out here and nothing but baseball bores the hell out of me. It would'nt be to bad if I could at least watch the Tiger's. But nothing but Dodgers & Angels bites. I couldn't care less about soccer. But I will actually be very happy when the NFL kicks off in a month. It will be nice to get back into my football pool. But it's my Center Ice package & Fantasy Hockey league that I really miss. Plus this will be my first hockey season with my new flat screen HD LCD and DVR. Man I am chomping at the bit.

I agree with most of what this article says about Dom. He is the best tender the Wings have had in forever. And I sleep much better since he resigned for '08. I would rather not even contemplate who had the worst playoff series with the Wings out of Ossy, Manny, & Cujo. Just happy like hell that the Dominator is back.

I'm Wings 100%. But I do have a place in my heart for the other 3 AMERICAN based original 6 teams. It is vital for the NHL to do well in Chicago, Boston, & Manhattan. More than anything I just pity the Hawks now cause they are failing miserablely. And will likely continue to do so till they get new owners. Which won't happen anytime soon likely. They have the 2nd best looking jersey in the league (after the Wings). And a long proud history. But right now that team is as dead as disco in Chicago. But, if they turn it around their fans will start to come back.
