Saw this and thought the community might be interested in this. Since it's one of the factors that contributed to me becoming a Red Wings fan, I thought it was best posted here. Why Cameron Frye Wore a Gordie Howe Jersey in Ferris Bueller's Day Off.

Bickell was either going to be traded, or bought out. Saves the cap penalty for the buyout process.

"Let's put a team in the most hostile environment available on the continent to ice..." - Gary Bettman* *probably

Oddsmakers and bookies could not be reached for comment...

In an industry that is rampant with homers (Olcyskcysztvcyk), idiots, and people only trying to make a name for themselves, Strader is one of the few that has risen above it. Best wishes to him on a full and speedy recovery.

"The Gordie Howe Arena, presented by Little Caesars" Best way I've seen so far to honor Gordie and to keep the corporate sponsorship.

The Red Wings twitter feed has been retweeting messages from several other NHL clubs and their words of condolences. Nice to see teams that are normally bitter rivals standing together. Rocky Wirtz of the Chicago Blackhawks had some especially nice words to say... Sad day. Red Wings fans, and hockey fans the world over, will miss you sir.

He'll be responsible for the forwards and the Power Play, in case it wasn't mentioned.

You had to have. We were clearly inept on many nights on both ends of the ice. -

Curse you, Steve!!! Wonder who the Wings will look at now? -
Well... Holland did say he was going to be more aggressive with trades before the draft...

If you are a Star Wars fan, and also a fan of cartoons-and-or-Disney, then do yourself a favor and watch this when you have the time...

Spoilers ahead. Don't click if you haven't seen Episode 7... Of course, I could be wrong about all of that, and wouldn't be surprised if I am...

I'm just gonna leave this here... It's become plainly clear that getting Star Wars out from under George Lucas' hands is the greatest thing to happen to this franchise...

Free Press: Pavel Datsyuk to return to Russia following Playoffs
Jedi replied to jdwheelz's topic in General
It's still early to say which way he'll go for sure. If ANYONE can convince him to stay for the final year, it'd be Holland and the Ilitch's. We all know the profound respect that Pavel has for them. If he does leave, it'll be a tough pill to swallow (cap wise). Tougher still to see a fan favorite career Red Wing ride off into the sunset. -
I think I'm going to give Dark Souls III a try next week. Never played any of that series before, but I'm intrigued by it. I showed a trailer of the game to my wife. Her response was "What's the point of this game?" My response? "Dying. A Lot."

Blood clot in his arm. Wow, what an awful way to end a season. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Per @NHLDevilsPR (The NJD communications department twitter feed)... Looks like the Devils won't get hit too hard with his "recapture" penalty for retirement, according to CapGeek. $250k/year, which isn't too bad. But it's until 2024/2025...

It only took roughly a year and a half, but I've finally started to move on from Destiny. Had I not joined the clan I did, I'm certain that I would have moved on long long ago, simply because I would have run out of content to play. Joining the clan opened up the raids and some of the end game PvP options, which kept me in this whole time. Since Destiny is smack in the middle of a pretty major content drought, I've weaned myself off of it and have picked up an old favorite. The PS4 version of the Final Fantasy X HD Remake. Forgot how magnificent this game was, and still is. Probably my 2nd favorite game. I'll still hop on Destiny once or twice a week (to run the King's Fall Raid with my normal weekly group), but other than that, it's pretty much FFX for the foreseeable future!

I'm glad to have been a member of this board for 13 of those almost-20 years. I have such great memories of times spent and discussions had on these forums, and have been lucky enough to have made several life long friendships with other members. Thanks to Matt for creating the forums and putting in so much hard work to keep it running. Thanks to my fellow Mods for all their hard work (especially since life has tended to drag me away from here recently). And finally, thanks to all the members of the forums! You the real MVP(s)! Happy (almost) 20th, LGW! Just think, one more year and this site can buy us all a beer!

Wookies have a lifespan of several hundred years. While the 30 year span from ROTJ to TFA for humans might be significant, in the lifespan of a Wookie, 30 years could be more like 4-5 years for us, possibly even less. So his secret is good genes. Good Wookie genes.

The only thing I could say after seeing it last night was "WOW". It's too new and too shiny right now for me to put in any kind of definitive ranking, but it's easily better than all of the prequels. GO SEE THIS MOVIE. You won't be disappointed. The Force is strong with this one.
