I've been away from this board for a long time, just recently came back and I have one question? What the heck happened to the Red Wings fanbase? Buyout ZETTERBERG?! Are you serious? I hate to be mean but come on! Some of these comments and trade proposals are miserable.

Teams won't want our pending UFA's and we have ZERO salary cap. The Red Wings probably will make no deals.

Almquist just surpassed his point totals from last season with about 30 or so games to go(31 points last year, 32 so far this year). 2 goals and 9 assists in his last 7 games. Also scored the shootout winner tonight(only player to score). Regardless of size, it's hard to not be a little bit excited about the offensive potential.

Regardless of his size, because I hate when people bring it up, Almquist is going to be a solid defenseman for the Wings if he gets the chance. I watch him constantly when I watch the Griffins, and he's outstanding offensively. I don't regret saying this next statement, but he reminds me so much of Lidstrom offensively. He's always got his head up, makes great passes, and he always keeps his shot low to the ice. Sure, he isn't going to knock anybody over, but he positions himself well, and is incredibly intelligent. None of us have seen Backman play, but I assume he will be good. But I can truly say I have watched Adam and I am truly impressed by him.

Hate to break it to some people, I am not sure you'll be getting a password. Mine was my Season Ticket Account Number, and I am not risking being the guy who's code is used 100+ times...or risk some stealing my tickets.

Anybody else feeling that this has become a pointless promotion because everyone is voting for players that already have 20 different bobbleheads(Draper, Maltby, McCarty). I'd like to see at least a Sawchuk or heck, write in Bob Probert.

Just heard on NHL Network, apparently no teams are visiting Parise. Do not want a situation like last year with Brad Richards. Also, Parise wants $12-million signing bonus, as well as $12-million the first year of deal.

Last night at the Tigers game was probably the most memorable experience ever at a game ever. I bought some seats for $3 off stubhub to sit in section 340. Anyway, my friends cousin had tickets 2nd row behind the dugout, and he tells me he is sitting next to Darren McCarty. So my friends cousin says he has 2 seats and there is one empty one so all 3 of us can sit there, so we go down and go to the seats and here I am sitting next to Dmac. After the inning ends I say whats up and tell him i won't talk his ear off, he said its cool dont worry and ask my name. Then I realize Jimmy Howard is sitting in front of me, I say whats up to him. Me and Dmac talked about baseball the whole game with only one mention of hockey. I got my picture with both of them. Couple funny stories are me and dmac were talking about how improved Inge's hitting is and as we talk about it as he hits a home run. Then we talked about Brandon Lyon and how awful he is and he gives up a homer on the first pitch. The guy they were with was asking Jimmy if he had been to Chicago and he said no they only let me go on the west coast trips, then i chimed in, or they let you go to Minnesota and he laughed and said yeah we wont talk about that. All in all, it was a great experience.

I should also mention that nobody knew who Jimmy Howard was but me, he was just hanging out while waiting for Mac to do his thing.

Lucky for me I am taking the spring semester off from school so I can watch the playoffs. I'm taking my next classes in the summer. That my friends is dedication.

I just sent an email to the NHL marketing department...I don't know if you care to but here is what I put. To whom it may concern: Hello, I don't know any other way to voice my opinion on this matter directly to the NHL, so I figure that this is the only way to do this. My comment is regarding the recent decision by Gary Bettman to suspend Pavel Datsyuk and Nicklas Lidstrom for not participating in the All-Star game festivities. I have been a hockey fan and devoted follower of the game for going on 16 years now, many things have made me shake my head...but this is downright wrong. How Gary feels he can do this is beyond belief. I mean, Nicklas Lidstrom has a resume that is 2nd only to Bobby Orr as far as defenseman go and has been one of the classiest players and people the league has ever had. How it seems fair to suspend a guy for even a half a game for not basically being a puppet is what is wrong with the marketing of the game today. Gary is so intent on marketing the game...yet show me where that intent is. A player says a crude comment on live T.V and basically gets blacklisted from the NHL, I don't know if the heads at the NHL offices hang around true fans, not just of the NHL, but of hockey in general, they would know that deep down every fan chuckled by the comment of recently suspended player. I guess my point would be this...Even if a player does the right things on and off the ice, is basically an ambassador for the game, he can still get suspended for not doing his part in trying to stick his nose up some suit and tie guy from Pepsi Corp.'s butt just to get the NHL 1 or 2 more advertisements. Quite frankly, I am proud of my team for not stooping to that level and picking family over hockey, it goes to show that when I became a fan of this great game many years ago...I made the right choice in team. Thank You and enjoy the All-Star game, cause I will enjoy mine January 27th when the Red Wings begin play again.
