I'm getting a chimney liner installed today, which randomly got me thinking of winter, which randomly got me thinking that Christmas is coming, which means that TransSiberian Orchestra is coming, which randomly makes me want to work on my Wish Liszt....

    2011 MLB Season Thread

I hope Carlos isn't out for long. I don't assume that he'll be in the staring lineup in the post season, but his bat has been waking up, and it would be nice to have that available..... Here's to hoping the boys go deep....

Kabibulin drops DUI appeal, will serve jail time

No preferential treatment for celebs = fine by me. In this day and age, everyone knows the ramifications of drinking and driving. Jail time on the first offense could inspire folks to never ever do it again. I like Arpaio’s set up. I think that jail/prison time should be hellishly uncomfortable. Basic human needs for survival met, and nothing else. Make going to jail/prison so distasteful that folks actually think twice about breaking the law. Chain gangs. Love em. Make criminals work their asses off for several reasons....help pay the cost of their time in the system, improve the local community, give them a good, solid work ethic so that when they get out they will be in the "get off your ass and go to work" groove. Tents are good enough for soldiers. I like that, too.

I'm Dan. I never get tired of listening to Stevie's work. I've never listened to his "The Sky Is Crying". I am waiting until I'm bored with the rest. Kind of made a deal with myself when he died that I would wait for some "special" time to experience it. Waiting on a phone interview for a random IT position I applied for. This call will determine if I work the help desk from home. I hope the pay is good....

I saw him a couple of months before the crash. Him and Joe Cocker flipped a coin on stage to see who would open for who. That night at the Alpine.....that was Eric's seat on the helicopter. Stevie Ray talked him out of it because there was a huge traffic jam getting out of the venue, and Stevie wanted to get home quick to meet up with the woman he had recently begun dating.... Got this and a boatload of other info from an "authorized" biography. Can't think of the title or author, but I'll post them tomorrow, if your interested. He truly was, as you say a genius. I would have loved being in Austin then. How about this....?

I agree completely. I've always liked the blues, but in the 80's, the genre had seriously faded....then Stevie Ray came along and all of a sudden everybody was into the blues. One of the few humans to cover Jimi in an acceptable manner.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zAG-kX_IlUw&feature=player_detailpage

    Seating Question

I also have sat all round the Joe....on the glass next to the zamboni chute, all the way to the very last row by the press box (there are coat hooks on the wall behind you). I like anything between the blue lines in the upper bowl. You can see plays developing much better from there, imho.

What are you reading right now?

The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, by Stephan R. Donaldson. Series of six books. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Chronicles_of_Thomas_Covenant,_the_Unbeliever Probably the 5th or 6th ( maybe more) time I've read them. First book came out in 1977.

That neighbor that I have....the one who calls the cops/city on everyone for every little thing, is whining because someone called the city to report that the new garage she is having built exceeds the maximum height allowed in the city code. She has a choice...pay a $400 variance fee plus a fine, or lower her roof. Of course the person that ratted her out waited until the shingles were on. I told her the easiest place to find sympathy is in the dictionary between "s***' and "syphilis". btw: it wasn't me that called the city...
