    Free agents this off season

Nothing ventured nothing gained. LA obviously feels they have a chance, but I highly doubt that the NHLPA will just let this go away. There is too much money at stake. My bet is that Mike Richards wins out and he gets what is owed to him unless he was caught dealing drugs or something really bad that we don't know about yet.

This "material breach" is going to be interesting to prove. The Kings have $22 million reasons to try this, but I just don't see it happening. Heck, they were trying to trade the guy over the weekend.

    The Bowman Effect

Once again.... Stan Bowman did not draft the team that Chicago has iced. All the draft picks that Chicago used through 2009 were drafted by Dave Tallon. Dave was so instrumental that he was given a Stanley Cup ring when the Hawks won in 2010 AND the Hawks had his name engraved on the cup. Tallon was the guy who signed Hossa, drafted Kane, Towes, Keith, and so on. Stan Bowman's tenure in Chicago has been littered with hits and misses. Its still too early to tell just how good of a GM he is.

    The Bowman Effect

This has happened but it was back in the 70s and 80s. I know a few older fans that are here, but I also knew some older fans that left and never returned. I question how many of the current Wings fans would remain fans after 10 years of crappy teams. Any fans that became Wings fans back when they were 8 or 10 years old in the early 90s would be 33 or 35 years old today. That is how competitive the Wings have been through the years.

    The Bowman Effect

First off, I would never advocate tanking for 10 years or even 1 year for that matter. People here see Chicago's domination, and it shouldn't be attributed to the Bowmans. It should be attributed to the 10 years of torture that some Hawks fans had to endure during those dry years. The ownership really did set out to have that team tank. They weren't broadcasting the games on TV. They crapped all over the fanbase, and now, they have one 3 cups in the last 6 seasons. Dave Tallon was just there to build a powerhouse for the Hawks. He was so key in the Hawks success that Chicago got Tallon's name engraved on the cup and they got him a cup ring for their win in 2010 (he was let go in 2009). If the team really tanked like the Hawks team did, and the ownership changed to the point where they crapped on the fanbase, I wouldn't be surprised to see a majority of Wings fans take their support elsewhere.

    The Bowman Effect

I know I have said this before but I will say it again. Dave Tallon deserves much of the credit for the rebuild of the Hawks. Keep in mind that he was the GM from the mid 90s to 2009. He drafted all the top talent that you see out there today. Stan Bowman has drafted some key players. Shaw was a big pickup for them in the draft. Still, the Bowmans were not a factor back when Tallon was drafting these great players. If the Wings want to follow in the success of Chicago, then they should do what Chicago did. 1. Suck for 10+ years. Get a number of top draft picks. 2. Draft great players and develop them. 3 Sign a big free agent like Hossa. 4. ? 5. Profit How many would be happy with missing the playoffs for a period of time to get top draft picks? Not many.

2015 SCF : Chicago Blackhawks vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

Actually, the Hawks success began in 2008 when they made it to the conference finals. Dave Tallon was the GM until 2010. Every draft pick they had up to that point was drafted by Tallon. Stan Bowman is a great GM, don't get me wrong, but give credit where credit is due. Tallon really did set the stage for the Hawks dynasty. In fact, he was so key that when the Hawks won the Cup in 2010, they petitioned to have his name engraved on the cup and they gave him a Cup ring. Since Stan Bowman has taken over, there have been two players he has drafted that have made the big club, and these players were key to their success this year. Brandon Saad and Andrew Shaw.

Toews and Kane on the Wings roster wouldn't be enough to win multiple cups. The draft picks the Hawks have amassed through the years really have paid dividends. You have to look at the team as a whole. Ah well guys, see you next season.

2015 SCF : Chicago Blackhawks vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

Yup, if you have a team that is utter crap for 10 years, you too can build through the draft like the Hawks and win 3 cups. Dave Talon and Stan Bowman built this team smart. Unless your management is as worthless as Edmonton. So you liked watching the Wings cry in 2009?

2015 SCF : Chicago Blackhawks vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

A few things watching this game..... First, 3 power plays for Chicago and none for Tampa so far (with 5 minutes left)? Second, how many chances do the Lightning need to score? Christ. Third, I think its fitting that Richards gets the assist on the goal that puts Tampa Bay out and wins the cup for the Hawks.

2015 SCF : Chicago Blackhawks vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

Winning the Stanley Cup not only takes puck luck, but it takes healthy players. So far, Chicago has lost some players like Rozival, but they have been able to plug others in that are just as good. Meanwhile, players on the Lightning are very key players that cannot be easily replaced because they are very good players. You can tell Johnson and Kuterchov (sp) are both hurt. No excuses though. The Lightning have to dig deep to win the game tonight.

Report: Cleary wants to return for 1 more season

Haha, me too. Seriously though, I would love to see him sign a 2 way deal and go down to the Griffins and give them some veteran leadership.

Griffins have got to score to win games. Scoring 0 goals will not get you a win. Got to hand it to Utica. Markstrom was amazing. Their defense was excellent.

Here is what we can agree on. Losing Teemu is a blow to this team needing goals in the 3rd and/or OT to win.

On the video stream he took two hard cross checks to the back and back left side. I think they got him in the kidneys or something. Either way, it didn't appear to be a leg injury. It could be one I suppose, but just from what unfolded by what I saw, it looked like something different.

Only 10 shots on goal for Grand Rapids. Not enough. Especially in a elimination game.

    Retire Sergei Fedorov’s Jersey Immediately

I ignore the insults and just looked at the numbers. Some of the arguments he makes are pretty accurate. The people who are offended are going to blow twitter up for sure.

Markstrom just seems to see everything shot towards the net. Its crazy. The puck looks like a beach ball to him right now.

    Retire Sergei Fedorov’s Jersey Immediately

I prefer to deal in what we can prove based on what happened. Not based on how we think he felt or what we think he would have done. Here is what we know for sure.... I remember the media uproar when Ilitch pulled the contract offer to Fedorov back then. It was all over the news for crying out loud. Various bloggers today even say that it happened. Here is a thread back in 2004 where some users are talking about the contract how it went from 50 million, to 40 million, to 32 million, and then pulled off the table by ilitch. http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/showthread.php?t=94452

McCollum really did save the Griffin's bacon. There was a series of chances that Utica just had, a breakaway and then a couple other opportunities, that McCollum saved. I wish he could be that spectacular all the time.
