    Flyers acquire Prospal from Tampa

Yeah, I mean, I got caught up in a frenzy of emotion when I read we didn't get Prospal. First I uttered a tirade of swears and sometime in the middle of that I s*** myself and developed the urge to go all "Nancy Kerrigan" on Kenny Holland. But you know, I'm cool...yeah, you know, just disappointed......that's all...
  4. 1) Al Iafrate - Kool Aid Man says "oh yeah..." 2) Rasheed Wallace - he could be one helluva crazy-ass power forward for us...I have little doubt of this at all...

I'm much more disappointed in Mike Illitch for not putting more money into Little Caesars so their pizza stops tasting like s***.

    Flyers acquire Prospal from Tampa

Maybe he needs that to make a bigger deal for Hossa who has agreed to sign a 7-year extension with us at $1.1 million plus a box of Wheaties per year. You don't know. You don't know what Tampa wanted/needed. Kenny's not stupid despite what so many seem to believe. If it weren't for the "so many" spoken of, maybe people would be more tolerant of your disappointment of the matter as the disappointment of everyone else. It gets old. Fast. And it's a message board. Who cares?

    Flyers acquire Prospal from Tampa

I hope we make no trades just to piss some people here off. And you know, in all seriousness, I wouldn't be shocked if we stand firm with what we've got and I'd be ok with it.

    Forsberg signs with Colorado

Oh man, this could be a lot of fun if we meet in the playoffs.......I really, really hope that happens now...

    OFFICIAL: Sundin Staying Put

Props to him. Classy move in a crappy situation. More power to him. We won't get Hossa.

The Official bring back Fedorov topic!

I still want him, but given injuries, the value's gotta be going down. I want him cheap. Hudler or even Kopecky is too much at this point if you ask me and I could care less about losing either. But what do I know?

    Verdict on Howard

Verdict? For serious? How about we wait until he goes through training camp and begins the season with the team so he has some real NHL consistency, eh? Until then, nobody knows. He'll get his chance.

    That wasn't weird at all...

    Red Wings, Leafs talking trade

Only way I could see us pulling the trigger is if he'd sign an extension with us. Though it's been suggested that he'd simply head back to Toronto and it seems like the obvious assumption. But you know, I'm just not sure. I wouldn't be shocked if Mats wanted to put in some time with a new team as opposed to just being a rental who tags his name on the Cup. That just seems to be the impression I get of him. If they could ensure that, I could see the Wings really pushing for this to go through and I think we'll have a definite edge over Anaheim in the matter. That's just a hunch though...as is everything for that matter...

2/15 GDT: Blue Jackets 5, Red Wings 1

No he has not. I'm starting to wonder if there's something going on we don't know about. He hasn't gotten any help, but he didn't get a lot of help numerous times earlier in the season and still played a lot better.

    Howard to start against Dallas

You can't really use this to judge Howard. It's just a game as of now. They're not going to keep him around this season and given the team-wide issue, it's not as if you can expect them to let Osgood sit the bench until Hasek is back. It's just one game. If he loses, that doesn't mean he's going to suck just as winning doesn't ensure greatness. When he goes through a training camp and comes into the regular season as the 1 or 2 goalie, we'll start figuring things out then. He needs NHL consistency per se before we can really judge. Right now really means nothing so just relax on the hatred come tomorrow. If the team plays like they've been playing, he's likely to look lousy anyways...

    Howard to start against Dallas

They've gotta do something to get Ozzie going again. The losses were hardly all on Osgood, not even close, but he hasn't helped and it's not like you can just switch lines on him here and there. He needs some time to get his head back. The line shuffling, I don't see it as helping. This team just has to get their head on straight again. They just seem to have lost a lot of composure for whatever reason. I'm not worried about it though. Things like this happen. Osgood will be fine. The team will be fine. Even some minor additions at the deadline will freshen things up a bit. It's February. When the playoffs start and we start playing like this, then it's time to flip out. Until then, I'm not going to worry too much.

Chris Osgood to start Friday vs. Columbus

You can't fault him much for what happened last night. Just a team disaster. That said, he didn't help bail them out either but all things considered, it's not enough to warrant him not starting. If anything it's all the more reason to have him start.

    Will Hasek Return?

It wouldn't matter if he did. It's not like you're sending the best goalie to a rival potentially. He doesn't have that kind of clout. They'd let him go without breaking a sweat. I don't think the Wings will make an effort to encourage or resign him. We've got a guy who can do the same thing signed cheap and a young guy we've gotta keep going. They need to spend their money in other areas that are lacking.

    It's Time For Change

I mean, wow, seriously, skaters is one thing, but how on earth can some of you people continue to knock arguably the best goaltending tandem in league history? I mean, seriously, reality...get a grip on it...my mind is still really blown...

The Official bring back Fedorov topic!

Anyone who wouldn't want Sergei Federov on this team at the right price is out of their minds. Right now, via trade or free agency, the price will be right. That's all I have to say.

    With all the Hossa/Sundin Talk.

A lot of upsides to landing him but we'd have to have Kronwall in as part of the deal most likely to make it work as he's the only player with a big enough contract that is somewhat expendable. This has been his healthiest year, no? Yet he's still been injured at least a couple times including now and heaven knows if he'll make it to/through the playoffs without something else popping up. YConsidering we haven't really had him to contribute in the playoffs, we couldn't really be too upset to have a younger guy or someone we traded for in his spot. It'd just be like last year when we were paying him to be injured yet again! If Kronwall can stay healthy it'd be great to have him in the playoffs, but that just seems to still be such an "if" statement. I like Franzen enough but wouldn't be upset to see him go to bring Jokinen in, nor Hudler for that matter. At times it seems like Franzens on the cusp of turning it on and becoming a big game player and then he goes back to just being in the background. That's not to say he's bad, but again, for Jokinen? Deal done. So eh, on paper it's a "cute" idea but that's about where it ends most likely. I like this idea a bit more than some of the others as at least it wouldn't be a rental and he brings a big game. But I'm not counting on it nor do I expect to consider it again even after I press "Add Reply."

    Don't look now

I had a feeling even when Zetterberg was on his tear that Datsyuk would pass him in due time. It just has a tendency of happening. Zetterberg's health thus far is definitely looking to be his stumbling block.

Why Osgood can't start in the playoffs

If Hasek's play doesn't diminish he'll end up starting though Osgood will likely end with better stats. It's somewhat unfortunate for the Osgood fan however I think Osgood would be the first to tell you that he understands. If they both continue to play like this, I don't think there'll be issues. They're both playing at a high enough level for this team to win if we can light the lamp up. Manny's the only goalie that's stunk it up for us in the playoffs and been as big of a part of the loss as anyone in the last 15 years. Every other year the skaters have lost it by not scoring while the goaltenders played well enough to win if not simply excellent. That said, I still feel there is an argument for Osgood starting this year over Hasek in the name of consistent play. I readily agree that Hasek has picked up his game as the year has gone on, however, I still don't feel he is as steady of a goalie as Osgood at this stage in his career. He might play great at a higher level than Osgood when he's on but he seems a lot more likely to be off and last year he had an off night at the absolute worst point in time. Given that Osgood can play at an extremely high level with utmost consistency, there is reason to believe that Osgood might be the more valuable playoff starter. Given Hasek's age, I don't feel that's a knock on him at all. He's accomplished a ton in his career and deserves all the accolades he gets, however, there comes a time where everyone loses a step. Despite improved play, I personally still feel more comfortable with the idea of Osgood starting. But as has been said, who really cares at this point? It's all just conjecture for the most part. It's not even February for a few more hours...
