Basically a recap of his comments after game 2. blah, blah, obstruction...blah, blah, crosby is the best...blah, blah, blah, if they start calling penalties they'll score on the power play (even though they couldn't in game 1)

    Game-by-Game Finals preview: 4-1 Detroit

To me the strangest part of it was that it had Fleury sitting on the bench for games 1 and 2 with Conklin starting. At first i was thinking it'd be fun to keep a copy of this and see if it gets any of it correct...but that kind of puts a wrench in the whole simulation. Edit: By the way CrossCheck24...your avatar is funny as hell!

    WCF: Detroit vs. Dallas

I don't get why it doesn't start until Thursday. That's a long time to wait between rounds. I was hoping we'd get going by at the latest Wednesday. Oh...and Wings in 6.

    Out of town wings fans!

I live in Denver. I don't usually initiate anything. I'll proudly wear my Wings hat around town but that's about it. It's been years since anyone has made a comment outside the Pepsi Center until the last week. The comments around town recently are just simple 'Go Avs' or 'Red Wings Suck' remarks as they are walking past so no need for a response. When at a game at the pepsi center I'll stay pretty low keyed for the most part. There is almost constant 'Red Wings Suck' chants during a game so there's no point in replying. The one thing I was doing at the game on Tuesday which really got under some local's skin was to, after the WIngs scored a goal, stand up and start yelling 'Red Wings Suck' myself...basically making fun of them. It seemed to catch them off guard and make 'em feel pretty stupid. So I generally keep it to a minimum...but it is all part of the fun...whether you're giving it or getting it.
  12. So does anyone know where the WIngs practice when in Denver?

Anyone else going to gm. 3 tonight?

I was at the game last night...up in the nose bleeds, but was still fun. The Denver locals love to cheer 'Red Wings Suck' when they score a goal or just during a play break. So when the Wings scored I'd stand up, in my Datsuk jersey and Wings hat, and start cheering the same exact thing just to taunt them...I think I confused some of them.

    Poll in Rocky Mountain News...

Link to results in Denver newspaper asking what the Avs must do to turn things around in the series after 2 games: http://www.rockymountainnews.com/polls/200...Wings2/results/ What do the Avs have to do in order to compete with the Red Wings? Replace Jose Theodore with Peter Budaj. 7% 24 votes Get Peter Forsberg healthy. 7% 26 votes Play a more physical style of game. 5% 17 votes The Avs are fine, they'll win the next two home games, then it's anyone's series. 4% 14 votes Nothing, Detroit is the superior team and will probably sweep the Avs. 75% 247 votes 328 total votes

dotn see a link to the it on the site...where is it? Forget it...found it.

    Budaj or Theodore now?

I know Theo got pulled, but then he seemed to change into street clothes and the Avs dressed a third goalie to sit on the bench? Does anyone know what exactly happened there? Usually if you don't have the third guy dressed he can't come into the game. One of the guys on XM said during the game the Avs had to get special permission from the NHL to allow him to dress. Anyone?

Respect for the Red Wings and their fans

While I agree Theo did really, really well in the Wild series...one thing I noticed was that MN wasn't doing anything about that. When you get a goalie that's playing that well and stopping everything he sees, you make sure he can't see the puck. MN was putting virutally no traffic in front of Theo so he was abkle to go along stopping what h saw. Now in this series he has to contend with Holmstrum and Franzen (who has been getting so much better at playing hard in front of the net). Bottom line...he's not going to have such an eaasy time seeing the puck in this series. So it'll be interesting how he does with that sort of traffic in front of him.

Stuart may miss start of Round 2

I don't take your comments as being snobbish. I do not have kids, but I have enough close friends/family/etc that have had children to understand the importance of being there for everyting involving them. I'll repeat again that I don't have any issue with a man being there for the birth of his child. But the article sited at the beginning of this thread stated that he will not play again until his child is born. While this could be in a day or two, it also could be in a week, two or more. There are plenty of cases where the due date is far surpassed. Also to state again, being an NHL hockey player is not a job comparable to the average joe and regardless of whether pay is based on the 82 game regular season or not, the entire point of his employer is to do well in the post season. Having a career of this sort with the rewards it brings also means some sacrifice. If he's gone 1 game...maybe 2 then its no big deal. But the reality is that he could be gone the entire series which, while it doesn't guarantee failure for the Wings, greatly cripples it as he has become a strong part of that business. He's not a data entry clerk that can call in another guy to fill in for a day or two.

Stuart may miss start of Round 2

Thank you...that is exactly what I meant. The article did suggest she's do any day now but in reality giving birth is not on a schedule. It could happen tonight or it could happen weeks down the road.

Stuart may miss start of Round 2

There are more important things than hockey. But he chose hockey to be the thing that allows him to live the life he does. I want to be clear...I am not saying I don't think he should be there for the birth of his child. I'm saying that the statement 'he will not play until his child is born' means he could be in San Jose waiting for that to happen for weeks and weeks. If he wants to have a job paying him millions of dollars then he shouldn't take an open-ended vacation during the most important time for his employer.

Stuart may miss start of Round 2

I completely DISAGREE with it being OK. If he was going away for a day or two then OK. But saying he won't come back until his child is born means he could be out for weeks and miss the entire series...or even part of the next. I'm really not a cold person and I understand why he wants to be there for the birth of his child but this sort of openended absence is not cool at all. He's a professional hockey player and with all the advantages of that (huge salary, fame, etc) comes some responsibility. A good part of that responsibility is linked to the fact that the whole point of an NHL team is being in the playoffs and being successful in the playoffs. To absent from the playoffs for an undertermined amount of time is not OK. When she goes into labor, leave. Go right to the airport and get there. But to leave for what could be weeks while he's out shopping for baby clothes is unacceptible.
