I thought I remembered Kopecky playing a more physical game when he was in last season, but from the looks of it he's not doing s*** out there this season...Why not give a Downey a shot, not like you're losing anything either way.

Samuelsson just infuriates me every time he's on the ice...in his mind he seems to think he's datsyuk and that he can just dance all over the ice, but when it comes to actually doing ANYTHING with the puck other than blast it High & Wide he rarely comes through...it's frustrating as hell to watch.

I guess I should have seen this coming...what was I thinking, that the Red Wings might actually go a season without getting punked every game by "foolish" teams that actually keep someone on the roster than can stand up for his teammates...my mistake. Sure glad we got f***in samuelsson out there scuffing the backboards every night though.

Not really worth debating, he's a dirty player and does what the team needs him to do...but one of these days he's going to cheapshot the wrong guy and get rocked badly.

I'd like to see that line as well. They had a Drake - Draper - Downey line for a bit the other night and Draper ended up scoring, so why not give it a shot...

Well what can you say...pretty accurate, I wouldn't call the team boring, but he's certainly right about what this team lacks.

I'd rather see Downey get the spot and occasionally provide aspects this team is sorely lacking, then see any of these other guys (especially Ellis or Hartigan) who theoretically could score take up the position and do nothing with it all season. Scoring is not lacking on this team...

Ellis and Hartigan are both useless, I'd rather have a guy like Downey who can provide energy and some hitting when we need it, then pick up another scrub just because he could potentially score 3-5 goals the entire season. Scoring talent isn't lacking on this team...

I know that Holland has a habit of pulling some move out of his ass and reinspiring confidence, but so far we've lost 4 players (5 when Markov rolls out), and made one lateral move defensively. I hope this doesn't all play out with paying Hasek some outrageous amount and signing Floppa or another finesse player...

Um...I dunno, maybe because he was easily the second best defenseman on the team behind the Norris trophy winner himself? Could be the 52 points and +12 he had last season, along with what, ~8 points in 11 playoff games? Seems kinda important to our defensive lineup...

I agree with what has been stated earlier in the thread...It's much harder to replace a defenseman like Schneider than it is to replace Markov. In addition, until Kronwall shows me something other than his ability to be seriously injured every season, I'm going to have to disagree with everyone who claims he's an ample replacement for Schneider's abilities.
