For the Kenny apologists, what Holland move would change your stance o

Holland trading the 16th pick and the Defense man that they desperately need were traded for one single year of relief of Dats contract should wake the rest of them up. The Jets got a great defense man with our 16th pick. Holland is the worst part of the Detroit organization, has delayed their rebuild and continues to do so. -

Holland has no balls so NOTHING will get done, but I would go after Trouba. Tatar & Mantha. Trade Mantha before he has an average year with no broken leg. Trouba can be a legit number one. -

Holland needed to get someone of value that he could trade later in the season for the D we need in the future. I like the Nielsen move, we need a capable center. Over payed for Helm; would have let him walk. We don't start building a contender & attracting key FA's until the D is squared away. It's official, The Red Wings are the ugly chick at the bar that used to be hot. Now everybody likes to remind her that she is not hot anymore, because it is easy & they can. -
signed Darren Helm re-signed: 5 years, $3.85m AAV

3 years and 400,000 too much. -
Without fixing the D, none of the free agents the Wings need will choose to come to Detroit. Trade for one, find the pieces to trade for one or just continue the slide we have been on for 8 years.
-
Detroit won't even begin trending upward until they have two solid D to put into the top 4. We are stuck with Ericsson so put him at 6, or push him in front of a bus.
-
IMO this is a team that has some skill and has a little speed but don't play like they believe they are more than an above average team. With the D we have & an overall lack of strength in the corners how could they think otherwise?

Blash better do something with Smith if he hopes to have a shot of getting back in this game. He is a project that needs to end in Detroit. -

Niether E, Smith or Kindle have any business playing. Each of them bring too much risk every second they are on the ice. -
I get it, Buffalo is what it is. I would look at Montreal. But if it is between Detroit & Buffalo & I am considering the next 5 years. Buffalo has allot of picks & some talent youth already. Detroit has a little, NO D, and Hank & Pav are just plain old.
-
I like Babcock. I think he has achieved allot with some below average teams. My impression (just reading all the same stuff everybody else does) is that he would really like to stay, but just doesn't see the team as competitive as it needs to be. If I am being honest with myself I don't think this team is worthy of a top coach. Too many holes, Hank & Pav are just too old. It is the end of a great era. I have my doubts but I am hopeful that Holland can add a couple of the right D & a few forwards within the next three years. At the end of the day Babs will have to move on if he wants a crack at a team that isn't going to limp into the 1st round and actually has a shot.
-
Nope, I think Holland has a much clearer view of his team. He can't fool himself any longer. He needs a couple top 4 D to hit prime in 3 to 4 years. He will rebuild in a more meaningful way. He has to, in order for them to improve fast enough to be competitive when the new arena opens.
-
No way this team advances to the 2nd round. We may even be swept. This has nothing to do with the sky falling, this is about the personnel that make up the team. Just too many deficiencies. Our best guys are plain and simple wore out. They have been killing themselves All season & just don't have enough in the tank. Pav is walking wounded, Hank is a bit slower, sore and beat , Kronner is tired and only Danny D can be consistent help for him. (Although E can send it up the middle to opposing forwards just like his first day) E is kinda like Willie Mitchell, with less talent and instinct. It isn't all a loss though. Let the kids get up here and play in some pressure filled games. Petr is going to be an incredible goalie after a little more experience and a couple better defense-men in the top 4. All the forwards need a nap as they have not just played defensively they have had to be the D. Bad passes, turn overs, getting pushed around, stick a fork in them. I still root for them, I still follow them but watching them play is like watching paint dry, more than it should. Set your T times for the 27th. You might see a Wing or two. If I do I will thank them and wish them a great summer. If I see Babs I will beg him to stay, if I see Holland I will congratulate him on keeping his playoff streak alive and ask him when the parade is. After all 16th, 15th, 14th, place deserves a celebration doesn't it? I also might take his car keys from him and place them on the shelf third from the top where he will have to ask a jockey to get them down for him.

GDT 4/5 GDT : Washington Capitals 2 at Red Wings 1
pondrocket replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
It is what many have been saying ALL year. I agree that he has tried; & he is in a tough position balancing the assets he trades away versus the assets he gets in return. Those are the decisions he is paid to make. This summer will be 7 years, 70% of a decade, if he doesn't at least bring in help for the top 4. Nothin happins until he does. -

Make the playoffs, don't make the playoffs they will be golfing when round 2 begins. To me this is really good. A clear view of exactly who this team is. We still have some really talented kids on the team & more on the way from Grand Rapids. Petr is a freshman goalie that is spectacular 90% of the time. He will be great with some experience and some D. I am more optimistic than I have been in years. Holland can't fool himself or hide behind the lap dog PR mechanism any longer. Ya have to admit when Holland signed Danny for 1.5 million he was revealing what he thought this team would accomplish. The season turned out about where they were expected, a playoff bubble team at the end, with some interesting games the first third of the season. -

Losing Streak affecting Babcock's Decision?
pondrocket replied to Datsyukian-Deke's topic in General
Here is how I see it: Top 1,2 D: Webber, Suban, Keith, Doughty, Kronner.... ( 3, 4 guys Yandle, Letang, Hedman, Pitrangelo .... I love Danny & I think he will get there but I don't think he contributes at a similar level to the above -
Babs will be 1st choice for anybody looking for a coach. He isn't the problem. Goal tending isn't the problem. The D is the problem. Everyone can see it & that is why the FA's are passing on us. Not fun watching them get ***** slapped around the ice tonight. Nice Clearey's mom got to watch him play again this year.

Losing Streak affecting Babcock's Decision?
pondrocket replied to Datsyukian-Deke's topic in General
Coaching is the LAST problem with the Wings. It's the Defense! Plain and simple! We have ONE .... one top four D man. The rest are all 5,6,7s. Danny will be there but he has no mentor as Kronner is fried. It is the D! -

Does anybody know when Capuano's expires with The islanders? In an interview I heard Babcock speak about all the family connections he has with the Islanders. They are a skilled team ready to take the next step.... Could be a good fit. He can only wait for the D to improve so long before giving up. -
Blame Howard all you want (I do plenty) but Our D blows. We have one top 4 guy & 6 solid 5,6,7 guys. Danny will be a top 4 in time but that's it.
