    Reviewability of the calls?

Despite the s***ty waived off goal, we can all agree that the Wings needed to have played better from the start. Say what you want but the previous marathon 3OT loss, that is draining and had effect on the first couple periods. I'm kind of glad in a silverlining way that the game didn't go to overtime AND for it to turn into a loss. We haven't faired well in OT with the ducks and another loss to them in OT would be really deflating. OVERALL I'm just saying 2 OT losses in a row would be devistating. I would take a wings OT win anyday of the week. Instead the wings come into game 4 refreshed with a chip on their shoulder and can play like they want to win it. Wings need a little adversity...can't have the cup handed to them. Maybe a piss poor silverlining but...its what is getting me through. Can't change the past. If the series comes down to that NO GOAL --- I will feel dead inside.

    Congrats to VS

My only beef is that VS needs a new camera guy at least for this last game. This past game vs the ducks made me nausious by how he kept swinging back and forth trying to find the puck/play on more than one occasion. Also, did anyone else notice that the horizonal on ice picture seems further away from the ice than when FSN broadcasts? Makes the game seem smaller and harder to follow (no wonder the camera guy couldn't find the play). I will say that their coverage otherwise has improved with each year along with their advertising. My opinion: FSN>NBC>VS. Nothing beats Ken and Mickey Hometown pride baby!

Johan Franzen signs extension, 11 years

Interesting, doesn't the current CBA expire 2011? If there happens to be another lockout or something, I wonder what would happen with all these long term deals.......

Martin Brodeur: Great Goalie, Questionable Morals

Gossip, gossip, gossip... Affairs, cheating, infidelity---that story has been written over and over again; but the story always ends in turmoil. Too bad humanity doesn't learn. Just goes to show that we can be immortalized by having all the riches, awards & records in the world; but nobody is immune from immorality. We are all guilty of it in one way or another. Unfortunate and sad. And public or not, the Brodeur family needs their privacy respected.

    Red Wings fans

I can understand why you're bothered, and especially as a season ticket holder you probably see it all the time. I people watch when I go from time to time and it just seems like many people do not have any game edicate. A couple things I've noticed when I'm at a game: 1. Probably various reasons. Work, weather, farting around... 2. The lines at the concession stands and bathrooms are redonkulous at the intermissions. People either exit before the period ends to get into line quick enough to not to take a leak in their pants. 3. As far as husseling, I seen someone take a tumble going up and going down the JLA steps (maybe they were a lil tipsy too, or had to get to the bathroom). They're kind of steep. If I've had a couple beers, I have to concentrate to climb them. Also, I remember a lady once seriously freaked out because she was sitting way too high. 4. Many people can't afford season tickets like yourself so they don't go often enough and/or don't understand the logistics of seat arrangements 5. My church pastor gets t'd off for the same reason when people arrive late and leave early for a sunday service. Nearly half the church does it. It doesn't suprise me people do it at a hockey game. Also, people are in a hurry to get out before traffic backs up. ...just my two cents. I suggest you let it roll off of your shoulders---or stand up to look over them---afterall, its a public and social event, there isn't anything you're going to do about it. I watch pretty much every game at home without the people obstructing my view. But when I got the money to spend on a game, its always a good time, I don't notice it so much since I don't go as often.

    Ott Receives One Game Suspension

You can see the alleged eye gouging at the end of the fight when Ott was on top of Moen; At the bottom of the pile, Moen's legs started to squirm back and forth---then one of the Refs said "HEY!" grabbed and pulled away Otts unbroken hand that was near Moen's face. I'm not really sure how you can say that. They don't deserve any respect. I hate Ott and I hate the Ducks...cheapshot artist meets cheapshot team. The Ducks don't like it when the tables are turned. LOL @ Giguiere trying to make pea nut butter out of Ott (although I hate it when padded up goalies go after players in general, its lame) Ott deserved what he got. Moen? Man, you beat the cheese out of a one handed, nut-less Ott...how did he manage to get at your eyes?! All in all, I say go beat the hell out of each other--both deserve it. Suspend OTT forever. Ducks play just as dirty as Ott.

    Interested in getting playoff tickets

I've never had a problem getting tickets to the playoff games I wanted to go to: quarter, semi, conf. finals. Never been to SCF, but a lot fans didn't seem to have too tough of a time getting them last year. The deeper they go, the harder it would be to get them. But, I think in this economy, it won't be too difficult. Just pay attention to when they go onsale. Otherwise, look at ebay or other online places and compare prices. Most of the time, I was able to find a season ticket holder who isn't asking only a couple bucks above the price tag.

    Why do people do this?

I think these cool names are more like titles or introductions than nicknames. Like another poster pointed out, you don't hear them used in conversation so much. I can understand the annoyance though. I went to the Caps/Wings game in D.C. this year, and there was this adult woman sitting behind me who insisted on putting a -y after every player's name. Ovey, Flashy, Brashy (Bashear), Travey, Kozzy, Feddy (Fedorov), Backy (Backstrom)...the whole team was pretty much the "Capys" to her. Not to mention, she was cheering in a high pitched, overexaggerated voice. I was going to kill her but, I had to throw up first from the nausea she was causing me. It was that and her male counterpart calling everybody by their first name: "way to go Donald!", "way to get em Alex!" or how seriously po'd he was when "Alexander" (Semin) took a couple penalties etc. Which was, to a slightly lesser extent, annoying I don't really mind so much if the nicknames are used conservatively or slip in once in a while; but if I'm in another team's building and listening to unknowledgable fans who cheer at calling a time out...I can't take it.

    Places For Jersey Customization

http://coolhockey.com I've been waiting for their wing jerseys to come back in stock, then I'm going to purchase a Z jersey . They are Reebok Premier jerseys that will look like the EDGE jerseys with authentic hand stitched player letter and numbering. Now I have't done business with them yet; but, I've read the testimonials and the fact that they're based in Canada is reason enough for me to purchase from them. Hope this helps

Red Wings visit the White House

That video was enjoyable. The only thing that I think inadequately stood out was the fact that he didn't give any props to Lids being the first European Captain to hoist the cup...kind of thought it was a bummer he didn't mention that (unless I missed it). What a cool experience though...

    Kings claim Quincey

How do teams get compensatory draft picks for players they lose? Is that for signing restricted free agents or what?

    Off-Season moves

What about Craig Conroy? I always liked him as a character guy and could be this years Dallas Drake. As far as Sundin--I think he would provide some good motivation for our team to repeat. Plus I think think hes a quality guy who can still contribute. He would fit in great with the wings

    Don Cherry on ESPN

I like Don Cherry for all his crazy ass, off the wall comments. I don't fault him for loving his country. All Canadian players (and North American players alike) grew up around the Cup legends, rich history and dedicated their hockey careers to the thought of one day hoisting the Cup. Hockey originated from Canada. So for him, to see a team full of Euros who weren't so much bred in that same passion, obviously deep down disgusts him. Which shows in how he was gushing over Gary Roberts and mostly talked about the Ducks in the ESPN post game commentary. Being set in his old ways, he's just got to accept that hockey is turning into a universal sport where many euro players are just coming to grasp the whole canadian upbringing (Lidstrom is the exact example of the perfect Captain to bridge the gap between Canadian passion and Euro passion: see his post game comments). So what? Cherry's old and he has a right to be set in his preferences and opinions just like everybody else. He grudgingly gave us props and even picked us to win next year. The Detroit Red Wings organization made huge strides in growing the game overseas in bringing over and developing such a highly skilled, talented mostly European team. I'm all for adding European flavor because ultimately it makes this sport the most entertaining sport out there and a better product for us all to enjoy. This was landmark!!! Congrats to the Detroit Red Wings 2008 Stanley Cup Champs. All in all, Don could be more of hockey ambassador if he was a little more accepting and a little less bitter. I still love him for his rants and passion for the sport.

    Chris Osgood

I was screaming it at the last few games. I don't know you've notice that his post side is his weak side. He cheats off of it. Crosby, Hossa, now Talbot and maybe someother goal I can't remember, have been scoring from there. I need to get on the phone with Jim Berdard. I love you Oz but you reallly need think about hugging them posts.

Therrian, just doing what he does best

Is it just me or is it painful to listen to Therrien's voice in the pre/post game conferences? He sighs and speaks in his whiney sort of accent as if he was fighting his own tongue. Half the time I wish he'd just go choke on his own spit.

SCF Game 3 GDT: Penguins 3, Red Wings 2

I seen that same thread you're talking about. The person who wrote that obviously knows nothing about hockey being a contact sport-- or has ever been introduced to the term "tight checking." The idea is to knock the player with the puck...off the puck. Wings do it beautifully. Not only does he not have a clue...he doesn't have a life!!!

Stanley Cup Tickets on sale right now

Just tried to purchase tickets in pittsburgh for game 4...got on the phone with one of the ticketmaster reps...just as she was finishing putting in the zip code...they sold out. I'm so bummed out. That would have made for an awesome weekend.
