yeah, it is kind of weird having the wings as an afterthought in Detroit, but that is exactly what is going on right now. Two franchises who have epitomized failure over the past 20 something years while the Wings are a perennial cup favorite kind of makes us take the wings for granted. but now that the two supposedly crappy detroit teams are finally coming to the forefront of the sports world makes us root a little harder for them than the wings because we havent been able to in forever. The Wings will have their time in the spotlight in this city later on in the year, but right now, the Lions and Tigers are the teams of Mo-town.

Delmon has been added back to the roster to replace Maggs. Not sure if he will go tonight though. http://www.freep.com/article/20111010/SPORTS02/111010020/Delmon-Young-returns-Tigers-will-he-play-today-?odyssey=mod|breaking|text|FRONTPAGE

I didnt so much mean the 5 hole as I meant moving out from behind Cabby. They will not take Victor out of the spot behind Cabrera. Anyways, game 2 is postponed until tomorrow afternoon because of a phenomenon never seen before in texas... rain.

Verlander's strike zone is really getting squeezed tonight... he walked people on pitches that Cabrera struck out on.

One ESPN writer thinks that Jim should shake his lineup up and field this variation: 1: Santiago 2B 2. Martinez DH 3: Young LF 4: Cabrera 1B 5: Peralta SS 6: Raburn RF 7: Avila C 8: Jackson CF 9: Inge 3B Glaring problem? Martinez will not move from the 5 hole. If that happens, Cabrera will not see a pitch the entire time. They will walk him every single time and take their shot at Peralta. This writer is supposedly a professional baseball writer? He has no idea what he is talking about.

Now we got to watch real baseball instead of a team that relies on it's unreal offense to win in spite of it's pitching. The Yankees got to the playoffs by out-slugging everyone else. They had 79 home runs just between Tex and Granderson. Add on to that Swisher, Jeter, A-Rod, Martin, Cano, that is a ton of power. Garder can poke it too, and can absolutely fly around the bases, and Posada was on fire in the series. This lineup could touch a pitcher up at any time, and the only pitching the Yankees had was CC, Nova, Robertson, and Rivera. After that, it is a crap-shoot. Sure, at this stage of the game, every team is powerful, but the Yankees are close to cheating with that lineup's potential statistics. So, bring on Texas. A dangerous team, but guess what? The Tigers are equally dangerous at this point, and are as hot as any team in baseball the last month. Should be a great series.

If we played that same game in New York, we lose lol. At least 2 balls to right field were caught on the track. The Yankees must hate playing away from their little league field. JV was solid against the buzz-saw yankees, and papa does what he does. Confident going in tomorrow against Burnett, just need Rick to keep it close and our offense will hopefully beat up on AJ.

Looking at our next 4 games... 8-0 is totally plausible. Chicago is going to be a big test on MNF, but we have the definite ability to take the next 4 games before the bye week.

Very encouraged by Scherzer today. Split in NY is what we wanted to do, and now we got the beast, CY Verlander, going in Detroit tomorrow. Little bit of a nail biter, but hey, a win is a win and the series is now a best of 3.

that rainout really screwed us over. we had our wrong lineup in for tne non-CC pitcher, and that screwed everything up.

Francona's option will not be picked up by the Sox next year. Missing the playoffs two years in a row and going 7-20 in September to blow a 9 game lead will not keep you with a team very long.

Craziest 2 minutes in baseball history. What a night. Monumental collapses by the Braves and Sox. Heads will roll in the next few days. That is almost unacceptable. I am kinda scared of TB right now, but we will have to deal with that when we get there.

Stats count a great deal, but how valuable is Granderson to the Yankees? they have A-rod, Teixeira, Cano, Jeter, Martin, Jones, Swisher, and Posada in their everyday lineup as well as Granderson. Take one out of that mix and you still have a first place playoff team. Take Cabby out of the mix for Detroit, and you have a .500 team. Simple as that.

I think we have gotten the best of the pitcher deals at the deadline. Fister out-duels Jimenez in the deadline acquisition game today. Verlander/Fister is looking like a formidable duo going into the ALDS.

I don't mind Fister going in game 2. Why not put our two best pitchers out right away? Best case scenario we win our first two, and the opponent needs to sweep, going to clinch against JV in game 5. If we split, well, its the playoffs and people need to step up and play like they deserve to be there.

I was at the game. the place was electric, the defense looked like it can play, and stafford and co were awesome. If people say we were running up the score, so what? You are an NFL team... stop us. After going 0-16, I don't feel sorry for anyone. No mercy this year. Win, win big, and don't look back.

We haven't clinched YET, but I want Cleveland to win tonight, so a win for the Tigers would mean an on field celebration. Magic number is still at 1, and we all know what happened in '09, so I will celebrate when it is official.
