    Justin Abdelkader

I went to the Green & White game tonight at Munn and finally got to see this kid play. My thoughts were that he looked really bad on his edges, turning and stopping looked labored and jerky. Perhaps just a bad sharpening job. He seems to have a great wrist shot, and moderate speed. One thing i noticed was that all of the players were being really social and talking and joking around on the bench and even on the ice during stoppages. Justin wasnt involved in any of it. And I dont think it's just because hes a freshman, a couple of the other freshman that were skating were laughing and talking as much as everyone else.

    2008 NHL Entry Draft GDT

    http://mckeenshockey.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=774723 And he's a Wings fan. Cool.
  11. the thing i couldn't get over was that in all the coverage i saw of the game, which was mainly focused on cleary and prongers fight to begin with; never did anyone mention the fact that pronger is a half-foot taller than cleary.. and that until the very end dan put up a very even fight. i mean.. good job pronger?

    Datsyuk sagging at Zetterberg's expense

Exactly, stats are meaningless. Unless you don't actually watch the wings. (i look at stats for the rest of the league as i obviously can't watch all of the games) But since I never miss a wings game, stats mean absolutely nothing. If you know hockey and watch the redwings consistently you should realize that datsyuk has been at the least as effective as hank this season. Dats absolutely dominates the puck, all of the time. Without that prescence on the ice with him, Z wouldn't be having nearly the statistical cumtastic explosion that he is having. P.S. I origionally hated datsyuk, and since his first season i've said that Hank is my favorite wing and i love the way he plays. But these are just the facts.

Panic Button HAS been pressed in Vancouver.

that's actually very valid, thick, multi-woven hockey socks do provide some level of protection against glancing blows from a skate. and really glancing blows are the vast majority of what occurs. skaters hardly ever are attacked or even just directly impacted with skates so the force is never that strong. for gods sake it's the same technology as they used to make cloth armor with in the middle ages, it's not woven nearly as tightly; but it still provides some level of protection.

    Neidermeyer the cheap shot artist

Alot of people are defending Aneheim's play as simply "play-off" hockey.. and that might be fair. However, I must say that I have alot more respect for the way that San Jose played us; the sharks played us hard, hit us alot, made us pay to get to the net.. The differance for me was that they very rarely did something that was just wholey unfair or dirty. I almost broke my TV in game one by throwing my lighter at it in anger. The Ducks were playing like bastards. There is no denying that. (The specific play that caused this was when Cleary was attacked by a Duck to his front and responded to that player.. then Beuchimin came and got him in a headlock from behind.)

Kronwall out 6-8 weeks with broken sacrum

I don't really see that as being the worst thing ever, mainly because I have faith that when put with Lidstrom, Lilja can play to a level where that pairing is still rather strong overall. We have seen that when Lilja is properly motivated he can be at least a serviceable defenceman, and hopefully with playoffs looming, and a chance to prove he belongs on this team staring him right in the face he'll find said motivation.

I would argue that there isn't a single sport (with the possible exception of baseball) where maximum effort doesn't show.
