Great. Just effing great.

Yikes, I'm glad I didn't have to see the visual that went with that atrocious anthem rendition...
-
I'm about to have a minor panic attack that I can't find a single video stream that is working....

Cheers to all of the late night friends - these are the only ones that I can sit and hang out on LGW for! I was toasting the game with festive margaritas, but started to get too sleepy. Rather than be counterproductive, I will draw energy from my hatred for Chris Pronger (and resist the urge to watch the game from laying on the couch.) GO WINGS.

This is truly, truly, the worst playoff slogan/fan promotion I have ever seen them roll off the assembly line. Seriously, who is their marketing agency? Time to make a change, John Hahn, these guys have been serving up duds for years. Does this really generate any excitement for the playoffs amongst fans? How about the hundreds of thousands of us that say, CAN'T GROW BEARDS. And no, I'm not going to create a bracelet just to play along because the slogan is not "The Bracelet is Back". The players have been doing this since I can remember - are they just now getting on the bandwagon? Shouldn't the slogan do something to get fans energized about the game, the atmosphere, the teams, the chase? This is all about a shaggy trend on someone's face. Wow, you mean a bunch of fat, sloppy drunks are going to grow beards for the playoff bandwagon? Where do I sign up for that?! They should have saved their advertising dollars and given everyone a jersey for free or something.

List is invalid without Vernon/Roy.

I'm fairly certain that I Want Stanley was the playoff slogan for 1996. I remember in the "rap" version of the song, it mentioned Keith Primeau, who was long gone by the time we won in 1997. The cup winning slogans? Get Up! - 1997 Raise Your Hands - 1998 Let 'em See Red - 2002 Are You In? - 2008 I loved A Call to Arms - 1995

This is the funniest effing thing I have ever read. Made this loss 15% more bearable!

Hey, wet blankets - let's keep is positive, eh? There wasn't an invitation to question the numbers anywhere in the OP. Kudos to Ozzie. A true Red Wing who deserves each and every single one of his accolades. Keep 'em comin, Oz!

Popping in to say: I'm getting married seven months from today! (the rhyme was purely coincidental)

I just had to go to college when they were selling out games.... Good PR move by them!
-
Gameday bump! Anyone got a feed for tonight's game on VS?
-
Wow, 36. I remember when he was 25 (my age now) and I was 14, and I was IN LOVE with him! How time flies... Happy birthday, Oz!

Thanks to the internet, I can stay connected to the Wings during work trips. Seems like just yesterday I was straining to get the 760am feed from my Walkman in Virginia (I was able to once!) :: hugs internet :: Anyway, 3-1 Wings!

Hopping on the Mo Cheese hate-wagon. He's a huge prick. On my 21st birthday, we went to the Wings game and saw him at the Post afterwards. He walked by and my friend told him how big of a Wings fan I was, asked if he'd pose for a picture with me at the bar. He said no and that he only took pictures in some other area of the bar, and despite having a camera out and ready (and drinks being poured at that exact minute, so it's not like we could walk away), he still wouldn't take a nanosecond out of his inflated life to take a pic with a cute girl on her 21st. I would not have been particularly excited about having a picture with him afterwards anyway (it's not like he's Chris Osgood or anything), but it's the principal of the thing. He didn't have to be such a V about it. I don't make it any secret that I think he's the one of the biggest douchebags in history. He thinks he's pretty hot s***, but I think he's a jackass. FWIW, I've seen both Orange Hat Guy and Knitting Lady as recently as last year, but haven't gotten to the Joe since opening night.

I predict: NO catastrophic meltowns. Oh, and Wings win
-
Going to be impossible (or expensive as hell) to get to this one.... Anyone up for just going to Chicago to hang out for NYE and watching the game at the bar? If we can't get there, we might as well take a caravan of fans and have a GTG or something....

I am going to the New Kids on the Block concert tonight, and I am not the least bit ashamed to say that I'm TOTALLY PSYCHED.

We'll be there! Stopping in at Cobo Joe's beforehand for chicken fingers and fries. Been waiting for this since June!

Probabably wherever we can combine liqour, college football and Red Wings hockey all at once Thanks for the well wishes! I'd love to chat, but we just got back from our bar rounds in Waikiki (6am EST and we're still catching up) Should probably cash in myself before I lose a days' worth of vacation! from sleeping in too long!

I got engaged in Hawaii today!

Posting this from Newark Int'l Airport en route to Hawaii!

We've reached the end! Date: 6/16/08 Start weight: 125 Start height: 5'2 Goal weight: 115 End date: 9/15/08 7/9/08: 122 8/11/08: 117 9/3/08: 116 9/16/08: 115 Success! Now, understanding that poundage can fluctuate, I'm probably realistically not at 115 from day-to-day. But as I noted in the previous update, it didn't end up coming down to numbers for me. It was making little changes to my diet and maintaining an exercise routine that worked for me. My bathing suits look great. I feel healthy. I can't believe I started this in June and finally reached the goal - and the trip! We leave on Thursday and I will spend the whole of Friday on Waikiki Beach, not worrying a bit about how I look!

I was able to get tickets to the Home Opener today at 12. Was at my computer at 11:59, hit F5 when the clock hit 12, selected 2 tickets and away I went! 214 row 13. Perfect (but still obscenely expensive). I haven't missed a banner raising ceremony yet, so I'm excited to continue the traditon!

I'm leaving for Hawaii for vacation in 10 days. Anyone have any tips for fun things to do on Oahu? We've got the touristy stuff covered (Arizona Memorial, Diamond Head, a cheesy luau), but I'm looking for any unique eateries or spots to snorkel, etc. Why are the last days before vacation always the longest?
