As a fan of the game..I HATE that rule.... As a referee...I HATE the wording and interpretation of that rule! As Irony would have it I had to blow a play dead because I lost sight of the puck in a scrum in front of the net, in the time it took me to raise my hand to blow the whistle the puck went in..By rule the play was dead and I had to call the goal back and drop the puck...After the game I was told by the coach it would of been that kids 1st goal... It was only MY 1st game as a Ref. If that rule was explained to the fans better.. I think it would be better understood. Its not "Intent to blow the whistle" it is "Puck is out of sight and the play MUST be blown dead....NO EXCEPTIONS!" Day one ...Refs are told...When you lose sight of the puck for ANY reason... Blow the Whistle!

Its just the process and dealing and negotiating, then KNOWING this would never ever make it past the 1st 4-5 teams... Why do it? I understand that he was just trying something... but jeez... would you step into a fire just to see if you would get burned..? or hope you wouldn't? just a analogy..... I did not get my hopes up high... I had been saying all along that he would not be a Wing.... Just a waste of time and effort to let it go to a s*** team like NY. I am not questioning what Holland has ever done..that is insane. I am well with in my right to wonder what was going through his head to think that a World Class Goalie (as you put it) would make it to us for (lets face it) a cup of coffee. That's all I am trying to say He has been in this business for a long time.... He knew the outcome before the process started.

I love Kenny Holland and all he has done..... But this.......this is a head scratcher for sure....

Did you see the goaltending display for the Sens last night? And the Isles Back up got injured too.... So a re-consideration could of taken place.... EDIT I am not trying to be a downer here.... to waive him for Nabokov???? I am just spit ballin' or this Per the GR Press "the Wings sent MacDonald down for a simple reason--they'd have to waive him. 10 game limit/30 days reached." They didn't want to lose him. That appears to be the only reason. is that true?

Agreed I think if a team puts in the effort for the signing and negotiating they should get a conditional pick or some form of compensation if a different team claims him.... or just let the team that signed him have him!
