who's on their way out of Detroit

You have to be joking. That is a disaster. If Holland wants Bert gone, he would have bought him out. Same for Tootoo. So why would we trade our picks for the same relief?

    Bobby Ryan to Ottawa

Right...that's what I thought "allegedly" was for.

    Wings Attempting to Re-sign Cleary

Usually I disagree with your consistent level of pessimisum but I'm with you on this... If Cleary wouldn't have had a good we would have been wondering whether or not hee should retire. This is Osgood 2.0. The guy is done. And even if he wasn't Tatar has won a job and will only be hampered, developmentally and psychologically, by being held back.

Wings sign Stephen Weiss, 5-years, $24.5m

How the fuss is Jarnkrok 3 years away? Dude is one of the best players in the SEL and has been for years. I think he plays one year, two tops, in GR. Then we still have Datsyuk, Weiss, and Andersson under contract...I think we're straight.

    is anyone happy right now?

I don't think so. And even so, Nyquist is a very good player and I believe will be a big part of our future. I believe Silfverberg was more highly regarded than Nyquist in the hockey community. Noesen may well have been Sproul/Ouellett/Jurco for us...and that would not have been worth it. Would it have been nice to get Ryan? Sure. That price is too high for us though. In three years Nyquist may produce at the same rate as Ryan and from what I've seen, I think Nyquist has more compete level. Yea...that got me too.

    is anyone happy right now?

Yep...and as much as everyone thinks otherwise, Tatar could be better than Brunner this year. And he's younger, cheaper, with more potential. Offseason win for the Wings.

    Bobby Ryan to Ottawa

I personally believe Nyquist will be a 60 point guy before long...add in Pulkkinen and and a 1st, no thanks.

who's on their way out of Detroit

Emmerton should never be on this team over Andersson. Jist because he can be sent down doesn't mean he ahould. He has earned his spot. Emmerton is just filler.

    Brunner Contract Talks

Exactly. Tatar has put in several years in GR a couple short call ups, should have stayed last year. Tatar EARNED his shot.

Wings sign Stephen Weiss, 5-years, $24.5m

Tatar may actually be the better player...and he's younger and more physical. He has earned the spot and playing time.

Wings sign Stephen Weiss, 5-years, $24.5m

This is a great signing. Replace Fil with a better player fora reasonable term and cap hit. Doesnt get much better.

Wings sign Stephen Weiss, 5-years, $24.5m

Weiss > Filppula Tatar > Brunner Alfredsson is a bonus Cleary is probably gone...bonus #2

Ribiero to the Coyotes for 4 yr/$22m

This stuff pisses me off so bad. Hey! We're bankrupt! We need your money Glendale! Please keep us here! Then they throw the bank at Mike Ribiero of all players...just stupid.
  15. Average Annual Value, I believe.

    Brunner Contract Talks

I don't know...it seems to be about as certain as "we like our team". I hate the thought of it but I'm almost positive that if we only sign one of Cleary or Brunner, it will be Cleary. No matter how much it goes against what this team needs.

    Wings in on Alfredsson

I know, right? I could of reached through my phone when I read that. Crazy sauce.
  18. True. Does make you wonder though. I've always been behind Holland but he has made far more questionable decisions in the last 5 years than he's made clearly good decisions. Quincey, Samuelsson, Tootoo, not taking advantage of Lidstrom's career end, Osgood too long, Franzen's contract, Tatar's handling this year, Colo's buyout, blah blah blah. The best players don't get the jobs anymore and entitlement will destroy a team, period. The guy will tap out on good players wanting money but caves to guys who can hardly tie their own skates. Won't trade Hudler or Fil's rights no matter how obvious it is they're not staying and shouldn't stay even if they wanted to. Bertuzzi and Cleary should be gone, period. Just because a guy has a good playoff doesn't mean you extend him until he can't play anymore (ie Osgood). Nyquist and Tatar are top six material guys, at very least Nyquist is, and shouldn't be playing third line minutes so some 35-40 point veteran can get all the minutes. But that is almost certainly what will happen next year. Tatar is already frustrated and why shouldnt he be? He and everyone else has to know that he brings more to the table than Bert, Sammy, and Cleary. Andersson should be our full time 3rd line center. Nyquist should be a top six fixture all year, period. These players need to be groomed to eventually take over for the big guys. Not be another couple of our 22 bottom six forwards. I support Kenny for being patient and rebuilding our farm system. His resignings of top players is admirable Otherwise, I am kind of wishing that maybe Nill would have got a shot. Even if he didn't, I'm glad to see that he got a shot and that he's making good, ballsy moves to get his team to contention. Kenny's boldest move in the last five years was his worst trade ever. His biggest signing was a #4 defenseman. Kenny is in a situation GM's almost never get to be in. Job security, long tenure, entitled and patient fan base. This allows him to not fear losing his job (because what Wing ever does?). He's wasting pri.e years of some of the best players in franchise history. Datsyuk deserves the best possible team over the next three years. When we let Fil walk, don't pony up for a true replacement, and then throw a spot at players clearly underserving of the job...guys notice those things. Especially guys who should be getting the jobs. The Wings reputation and biggest selling point is on the line. End rant.

Dale Tallon? Is that you? A top 2 defenseman is in everyway more important than a top 3 forward.

    Trade/Buyout thread

Its just the Jackets luck that he would have that season and then be an RFA. Im not sold he'll be that good next year. This is not the markwt to sell a goaltender though...feel bad for Columbus.
