In an effort to replicate what was done in Detroit with the Russian Five, Kenny has been secretly traveling to China to scout with the plan of shocking the world and drafting only Chinese players in the 2020/2021 draft, and creating thus what will be know as the "Mandarin Five" line, which will dominate the NHL for years to come.

Any opportunity to see a Torts post game interview is never a bad thing.  Especially after a badly officiated game.  As the young whipper snappers are saying these days..."that guy has no chill".

    Holland, obviously.
It was all part of a conspiracy. They wanted to deliberately keep AA from success. Holland steps aside so that Yzerman gets hired as GM and keeps Blashill as coach. Blashill then deliberately plays AA on the 3rd line with guys like Helm and Flip to keep his numbers down, cuz what coach wants to play their best players? Then Yzerman trades AA back to Holland, who is now GM in Edmonton, so that he can also keep AA down in order to further the conspiracy without making it look like a conspiracy.
Or it could just be that AA is really just a 15-20 goal 3rd line winger who had one good offensive year because he cheated on defense. And now teams have figured out how to neutralize him, so Blashill tried to teach him to play a different way in order to be a more effective, well rounded player. AA rejected his coaching, insisting on playing the game his own way and trying to rely on the same tactics that didn't work anymore. So Blashill played him back on the 3rd line where he belongs. And now Edmonton is too.

And will probably choke in the playoffs in Switzerland.
Honestly, unlike Bourque, he doesn't deserve to win the Cup.  In his prime, he underperformed in the  biggest moments.  I hope no contender bothers to acquire him.

If Yzerman could get Mantha for 5.5 x 5 and AA @ 4.5 x 3? Those would be great value contracts (if they can both stay healthy)

Agree.  I think Stevie is waiting till he has full understanding of who he can get and who he can't.  I don't see him rushing to pull the trigger on this.  IMO-He likely has a list of coaches in mind that he'd want, and as the season plays out, his "list" of guys he wants will shorten.  As the list gets smaller and smaller I would suspect the back-channel communications will start to happen with the short list coaches and their agents.  Basically this....100% off the record and will be denied if gone public, but Yzerman wants to have a very serious conversation with you about you being his bench boss in Detroit.

When he was speaking he was good. Very comfortable, not boring to listen to. But you could tell he was a newbie. Whenever John Keating was talking his gaze was darting around everywhere, and you could tell he was looking at the producer/coordinator behind the camera or whatever. Got keep those eyes on Keating or the camera Big Bert.
That's prolly easy to work on and fix though. Hope he does more. I love to see new faces in the booth.

Well, that's how bad this team is. lol Players and Blash thought he did well, but any goalie stuck behind that D is gonna get lit up. Could have been worse. He may not improve the net sitch much, but I'd rather see him play instead of Bernier. We know what we have with Bernier. Who knows, The more Comrie plays, the better he may get. It is very hard to judge any goalie on this team with the mess were in, but it is what it is. Just start the kid, get Bernier some croissants and tell him to sit back and relax.
Yeah i had read about that. The first goal that went in never should have either. An opposing player shouldn't get three whacks at a puck in the crease ffs.

During the 2nd Period of Tues game (can't remember the exact time during the period), we were getting swarmed by the Jets.  Just an onslaught of offense and our D was scrambling.  Right before the whistle blew there were 3 Wings standing directly outside of the crease in front of Comrie in essentially the form of a triangle...the other 2 Wings were chasing the puck around looking quite honestly a bit silly.  Once the whistle blew, you could see Comrie laying into the 3 guys in front of the net, you could tell he was saying something to the effect of stop standing around and screening me....go play D!!  Ugghh...it was hard to watch.

I don't know that the problem with the Leafs was defensive per say. It's definitely an offense heavy team though...
It's watching them lose board battle after board battle and lacking any real fight in there game. They totally come off as confused or disinterested at times.
That's probably to blame on Babs losing the room, and also a team lacking any real role-players.
    2-0 in the Keefe era
Like many have said, I think Seattle would be a unique opportunity for Babs. He'll have a ton of say in roster selection and can build the team to fit his evil ways.
However, Seattle seems help bent on being the new, different, progressive, team in the league. So I doubt they go with such an old school jackass lol

There's also the age factor. Dude's gonna be 36 in March. That's not ancient, but, uh, it ain't exactly young either. I'm guessing his poor play is just a combination of old age and the s*** defense in front of him. Too much for him to overcome on many/most nights.
