I see this as a GOOD signing. I think it almost makes it certain that Zadina is in the lineup from day 1 with Vanek as a mentor & both being Czech. And I don't know about anyone else, but I am all for having another 20 goal scorer in the lineup. I still think a trade or two will be coming to make more room, and Zetterberg isn't a guarantee to be back with his back issues.

Not understanding why they trade for McCollum, when they could have just re-signed Pasquale &/or Paterson. It's not like either stunk it up last year. Pasquale held down the fort in Grand Rapids while Coreau was up with the Wings & his numbers weren't bad all year (15-9-2; 2.43 GAA; .919 SP). And Paterson is YOUNG & still led Toledo with a 34-13-1 record, 2.28 GAA, and a .918 SP. Pasquale was quickly snatched up by Edmonton & my guess is that Paterson gets grabbed as well. Would like to see the Wings at least change their mind & sign Paterson back.

Hronek was a joy to watch here in Saginaw this season!

So they just signed Eddie Pasquale as well... so is it Coreau & Paterson in GR & Pasquale in Toledo, or Coreau & Pasquale in Grand Rapids & Paterson in Toledo? I thought I saw that they had no intention of bringing back McCollum. Fun tidbit, both Pasquale & Paterson are former studs from the Saginaw Spirit (OHL).

As far as the people wondering if he will be back in the OHL this coming season, no, this past season was his overage year. He goes pro this coming year, be it in Grand Rapids or Toledo. I'd think it would be Grand Rapids from everything I have read.

I watched him his entire OHL career here in Saginaw (until he was traded half way through the season last year, which is typical in the OHL), and Wings fans should be excited. I'd argue he's a little tougher version of Abdelkader with a better scoring touch. He was always the first one to jump in & defend his teammates. Was a good captain here. Great pick-up!

They are using more than one password - sorry! I had a different one. I did end up getting 2 tickets at $53 each (plus a million bucks in fees & my first born male child), so all is good in my world. I just had to keep trying & waiting for someone who was looking at the tickets to release them. I panicked for nothing.

I had the REAL presale password & 5 minutes after tickets went on sale NOTHING available??? Come on now... EDIT: Let me say that by "nothing" I mean nothing under $75.

And they can always call Mantha back up at any time if they need/want to. He's not far away.

Shouldn't you have to actually BE IN THE NHL to get voted in? I understand that he was playing in Arizona when voting started, and is now back up with Arizona, but he wasn't even playing in the NHL when he got a lot of those votes, he was in the AHL. Time to take this out of the fans hands & let the coaches or even the players decide.

There won't be a taker for him on the trade market. Send Petr back to GR to get some games. If we need him he's a phone call away. If "Monster" doesn't bounce back well from the injury, you can always try & ship him to GR - I still doubt anyone would claim him on waivers if we did that, but who knows. I think if he's healthy, keep Howard/Monster & let Petr get some games in GR. Monster won't be back next year. If he has no takers next year he could always be signed to GR for next year.

I love Paterson, having watched him play here in Saginaw for the past few years. He can steal games. That said, he can have real stinker games as well. He will never see a game with Detroit until he learns to protect the top half of the net. If there were video of every goal he has given up, I would love to see it! Because I guarantee that somewhere in the 90% range of goals were scored on him up high, especially this year. Some other teams have figured that out & would ONLY shoot high on him.

Winnipeg could be a great destination for someone like Kindl - with their defensive injuries & whatnot they could really use him. They are REALLY thin on the blueline right now. And they have the picks they could send back this way.

The few statements from his son Murray had me concerned from the start. When he commented right off the bat something to the effect of "We are keeping Gordie as comfortable as possible, til the end" it made me think this is not going to have a happy ending.

Does anyone know if there has been any mention of extending/rerouting the People Mover at all? Now would be a great time to expand it towards Comerica Park/Ford Field & the new arena. That's one thing I like about the Joe - you can park in so many different places & just hop on the People Mover & get dropped right at the door! A lot of times when we go to games we stay at the Ren Cen overnight, and the convenience of the People Mover is great!

I admit I didn't read all the comments in the thread, so sorry if this has been said, but I will say that the OHL has used the helmet rule for a few seasons & it's not as bad as it sounds. It's not really a situation that presents itself THAT much. I would be all for the "rock-paper-scissors" method, if they in fact used an actual rock, paper & scissors!

Too bad they're not showing the OHL games. Bummer!
