Loo - as I said earlier he has all that size and he doesn't use it. This guy watched Lucic run his goalie over and didn't even flinch towards defending Miller. The best he could do was a staged fight a week later to save face. Not the type of guy I want on the team. Size for size sake is worthless. I'd take a guy Drake's size with that level of fortitude over a big guy with no guts any day. -

More importantly a guy who is "gritty and tough" yet when on the ice when Lucic runs over his goalie he doesn't even flinch towards the guy. Gaustad is not a solution I would be happy with. -

Pierre LeBrun said that the asking price is a 1st round pick. (TSN feed) I don't like Gaustad to begin with, but for a first I would be livid. -
Kyle Quincey traded to Detroit in 3 team trade (TBL & COL)

Wings get a 26 year old D-man who is already familiar with the system who can play the 2nd PP unit and on the PK (both slots that needed filling). Additionally he is a physical guy who can dish a nice check. He is a longer term solution too possibly who could possibly play with us and fill Stuart's spot if he leaves. Takes the pressure to over pay for a similar D-man in the offseason way off. Nice move for this year and next year. -
Ken Holland: "Right now, Joey is our #2 goalie"

I hope they keep Joey Mac up as the #2 goalie. He has been very solid for us in this stint. -
Chris Stewart is a POS. It better be a 5+ game Shanaban

Ritola has refused his AHL assignment and was placed on $125 waivers for the purpose of relieving him from his contract so he can go play in Europe. http://www.tampabay.com/sports/hockey/lightning/mattias-ritola-says-no-to-ahl-norfolk-will-leave-the-tampa-bay-lightning/1200615 http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=87882 Anybody still upset that the Wings let him go...I'm not. Good luck to him, and I hope he can make it to the NHL, but I don't see it happening. I didn't see it when the Wings waived him and I still don't see it now.

It looks like Minard has concussion issues which is why he is not with the team. Doesn't look like he will be with the Griffins at all.

unintentional and resulting from ben smith putting his head down at the last second... but it was east west and a hit to only the head. Brendan Smith's pre-season is now over...That is a definite suspension. -

He is exempt from recall waivers but still needs to be waived to be assigned to Grand Rapids I believe. -

Joey Mac was good last year and has looked solid tonight so far. I am a little concerned about losing him to waivers if somebody gets an injury to a back-up goalie. I am starting to entertain the idea of instead of carrying a 14th forward going with 13 F 7D and 3G Any thoughts? -
McCrimmon, Salei on board Russian plane crash
russianswede919293 replied to RedArmy's topic in General
Silver lining with Joey Mac. He almost signed with Lokomotiv before getting his deal with the Wings. What a tragic story this all is. Reading the statement from Rusty's wife on Mlive was heartbreaking. -

It all could have been avoided with a plane that was safe. I cannot believe it was deemed unsafe by the European Air Union. If that is true it is tragic news, I was hoping this wasn't a KHL money skimping thing and it was. I'm out, that is too much to handle... -
McCrimmon, Salei on board Russian plane crash

Absolutely tragic...I am speechless, in awe. My heart goes out to the families of everyone involved. As a Wings fan it is even harder to swallow with McCrimmon, Salei and Liv on board. What a tragic day. -
Hopefully he can get healthy and return to playing. It would be a shame for one of the NHL's best players to go out like that. Really hope he can get back to playing and back to full health.
-
I agree. Ozzie would get an actual press conference if it was retirement. It is definitely that he is coming back.
-
I think Joey Mac is a precursor to Ozzie. A proven back-up goalie eliminated the need for Joey, but Ozzie's groin makes Joey a great back-up back-up option if Ozzie gets hurt.

I know Wiz had a HUGE season last year. But overall he and White are the same age and have roughly the same NHL stats (Wiz'a are a tad better). But White could break out like Wisnieski did last season for us this year I think. Wisnieski got 5.5 over 6 years and White got 2.875 over 2. I think that though Wiz is better last year they will be comparable statistically next year. On top of that White does not hurt our ability to re-sign our big guys next season like Helm Kronwall and Stuart, and the Wings will have a shot to sign a guy in a better UFA market next year, or possibly even make a trade or 2 at deadline with that cap space.

Ehrhoff's rights traded to NYI, then traded to Buffalo
russianswede919293 replied to Travis's topic in General
If Wiz winds up in Columbus before tomorrow it looks like Wings will be going after Kaberle and Jovanovski I think. -
They should probably wait to radically re-align divisions until Phoenix situation is settled. They could be moving east still. Hulsizier pulled out.

Jagr strikes me as Modano part 2...Aka. I don't want to do it.
