11/21 GDT: Flames 4 at Red Wings 5 (OT)

the reffing was obviously one sided, it doesn't take a homer to figure that out. but the flames were brutal for giving up a 2 goal 3rd period lead. neither the flames or the refs should be excused. i dont know what it is but the red wings at home seem to get the benefit of the calls (stats and hard numbers dont lie). its really frustating

Who would have thought that if the refs would let them play hockey this would be a good tight close hockey game? Amazing

The point of my post was pretty obvious. I was posting my THOUGHTS. I will give you a review: -The Wings are talented (Their record shows this) -The Wings are given the benefit of the doubt by the refs due to their small size and reputation (this is easily observed and proved by 2nd least penalties in the NHL) -The Hockeytown thing is embarrassing because the attendance is kind of shameful for a top tier NHL club who won the cup (once against proved by actual numbers) Do you understand now?

I'm sorry what was the point of that?

It really doesn't.. the Red Wings are the 2nd least penalized team in the league, and I can assure you it has very little to do with discipline. They're a team that has gotten by on being small, soft and european and are always given a pass by the refs. I can assure you this also has nothing to do with the game or road trip, this has been my exact thoughts.. nay.. observations about Detroit for years. Since the 90's frankly. Nothing wrong with being skilled and getting the benefit, its not your fault and the Wings arent going to ask for more penalties. But lets call a spade a spade. The stats and numbers back up everything I say... and I can assure you the music selection is obnoxious as hell. The music guy at JOe Louis is the only music guy in the NHL that if I saw I would punch him in the mouth.

I'm sure this wont get a great response, but the following statements are 100% true -The Red Wings are very skilled -The Wings are a soft euro team -The Wings get the benefit of the doubt on calls more than they should I really cant stand the Red Wings, a lot about them irks me. The Hockeytown sham, their obnoxious music selections during games, and their soft flavour of hockey which belongs in Europe. I suppose I'll be banned for speaking my mind and so be it, but nothing in this thread is any less than 100% accurate.

    Flames extend Kiprusoff

what i love most about this deal is that it stabliizes the FA market.. HOPEFULLY. Clowns like Kevin Lowe throw a stick of dynamite into the FA pool, in an attempt to bring the rest of the league down with their s***ty organization. You would never see Holland or Sutter be a bonehead.. and deals like this only help to keep players in cities they want to be in

    Congrats from Calgary

Just got home and im still a little broken hearted... but the better team won. Detroits defense was nearly impeccable, congratulations to them. Im gonna go .. distract myself now. Good series.
  9. QUESTION 6: WHICH TEAM HAS THE MOST INTIMIDATING FANS? Flyers Flyers • TOP VOTE-GETTER: Philadelphia Flyers (24%). • Flyers page | Schedule | Player stats • Everyone thinks their city has the best fans, but NHL players on average find Philly to be the most intimidating. From the "Broad Street Bullies" to the "Legion of Doom," Flyers fans are knowledgeable, passionate and, um, vocal. Remember, Philly fans even booed Santa Claus. • OTHER MENTIONS: Montreal Canadiens (22%); Calgary Flames (19%); Edmonton Oilers (10%); San Jose Sharks (9%); Toronto Maple Leafs (6%); Minnesota Wild (3%); Detroit Red Wings (3%); Vancouver Canucks (2%); New York Rangers (2%); Columbus Blue Jackets (1%). one question of a few they asked. The Joe is the toughest building to play in

ESPN did a poll this year as well from 20% of the players, and they asked a bunch of questions.. noteably: QUESTION 6: WHICH TEAM HAS THE MOST INTIMIDATING FANS? Flyers Flyers • TOP VOTE-GETTER: Philadelphia Flyers (24%). • Flyers page | Schedule | Player stats • Everyone thinks their city has the best fans, but NHL players on average find Philly to be the most intimidating. From the "Broad Street Bullies" to the "Legion of Doom," Flyers fans are knowledgeable, passionate and, um, vocal. So I think the result here is that the Joe is tough to play in cuz of the team, while the atmosphere and fans clearly go to places like Philly Calgary and Montreal. Even Edmonton.

    GO ALL OUT

The problem with wings fans wearing red at the joe is that.. the seats are red. in the dome, the seats are green. so when you guys wear red.. like you guys tried against the jets after seeing the white out in 96... it made the arena look empty.

Game 4: (4/19) Red Wings @ Flames (LIVE)

OKay, enough with the BS about the stupid flames can only score on the PP. why cant detroit? we've had only ONE more PP than you... and so the question is.. if the both teams ar ebeing called on the same crap, why arent the wings adjusting and the flames are? quit the dumb whining.

Game 4: (4/19) Red Wings @ Flames (LIVE)

O cry me a god damn river about the FLames getting 2 5 on 3's. First be at least honest that the Flames scored on one of them, not both. The 5th wing was back in the defensive zone for the 1st goal. Also, if you want to complain about how "good" goals are.. go play in a pick up league where you can be fancy and winning is a pure skills competition. This is the NHL playoffs. One of your goals was a lucky and weird bounce off the boards that went right in front of the net on to Berts stick, so if you're going to whine and pull the "quality of goals" card.. at least get it right. Jeebus.

To those who are crapping on the fans.. thats OUR JOB as fans. To guilt the refs into getting more calls our way. I thought you were "hockey town"... that should be common sense. Anyways, wish I was there but ... getting tix for these games is very difficult. Good game, both teams are getting every stupid call in the book, but the rules are rules. I wish the Flames would smarten up and stop, but I cant complain with the current result. 20 minutes to a best of 3.
