Thanks Ozzie. You're the f***in' man (I've been trying, but I really need the profanity here ). The fact that all the guys that have been on the team since I started really following hockey are retiring is really making me feel old.

The CBA definitely says that if the team used a compliance buyout on a player before the 05-06 season, that player couldn't rejoin that team that season, but I can't find anything explicitly prohibiting a team from buying a player out with a "regular" buyout then re-signing him.

Hang out with some opiate-dependent people. It's nothing for most of them to take a bunch of oxy or vicodin or whatever and get really drunk on top of it. Like others have said, unless the dose in his system was WAAAAY high, it was probably an accident.

Not according to the rule book: I get that, but I think it would be bulls*** if it were an automatic whistle. Goalies are hockey players too; it won't kill them to take a puck in the mouth (and they'd all gladly do it to make a save I'm sure).
