Just depends on if you are trying to reach the playoffs, or thinking about draft position. In the latter case I think you could make an argument that you are trying to carefully staff your bottom six defensive corps... As to Nielsen, I agree. Would be the right thing to do if he is going to be sitting in the press box all year anyway...

I'm actually concerned that we will be better than we need to be next season, draft wise.

I'm not feeling too depressed about things right now. I think our younger players, currently on this team, are suffering from a combination of just not quite putting it together yet, and lack of surrounding support. Looking at how Veleno's season in the SHL is translating onto NHL ice is making me feel pretty positive about our other prospects there, never even mind Seider. I don't expect him to really dominate next season, but I would be shocked if he was not a good NHL defenseman from game one... Ugh... Cringe! Skate to the junk for DeKeyser

Right now I am feeling quite hopeful that these two are going to be really good for one another. With Vrana on the other side, it gets pretty dangerous for a defense to focus too much on Zadina. I think he will end up with a little more space to do this thing. I am looking forward to seeing Vrana setting up Zadina when the opportunity presents itself. He is definitely a scorer, but not a selfish one with no clue how to pass. Don't remember how Jakub phrased it exactly, but he described Zadina as someone who is a scorer. If he's willing and able to set up Filppula with a can't miss, then... In the other direction, I don't think it will hurt Vrana's game to be watching Zadina hustling his ass off and playing defense every game. Hopefully in this environment he can improve that side of his game, not because he is being criticized, but because he gets inspired to show he can do it too. I was happy to hear Blash describe him as 'receptive to coaching'. He's still pretty young, so I for one am not counting it out. Anyway, that's my pipe-dreaming for this morning, and I'm sticking with it unless and until proven wrong.
