    Hockey Jerseys

something about the Red Wings and Lions where those damn Asians just can't seem to get it right. Red Wings font is always off, and the Lions blue is always way too light. You look at some of the other teams, and they're absolutely perfect. borntrade seems to have the right Lions blue...for 25$ I might just take a chance...we'll see.

Kenneth Rucker, a.k.a. "Orange Hat Guy", passed away

Just as anytime something special is done for someone that dies, I wished they would have honored him like that while he was still alive to enjoy it. I don't think we show the people who are still with us how much we appreciate them as much as we do once they pass. Think about funerals, all the wonderful things people have to say about someone that's just passed. I always think to myself, I wish that person was right here so they could hear how much people loved them. (Even though you may believe they are there and can hear it). I think more tributes should be done for people that are still around.

Is the CBA pushing good players out the door?

It'd be nice if only 66% of the salary of players that were drafted within the franchise counted against the cap.

Books on the history of the NHL

http://cgi.ebay.com/20th-Century-Hockey-Chronicle-/130434172600?pt=US_Nonfiction_Book&hash=item1e5e7b86b8 that's what you're looking for. Pretty sure I have the same one, with a different Cover. It's a season by season chronicle of the game. I pull it out all the time to brush up on different decades. Definitely recommended for anyone that truly wants to know about the game.

    Westward, ho!

Wings in the East would be a Huge relief. It isn't just about us staying up to watch the games, it's about travel throughout the regular season and playoffs. Instead of spending hours flying to different time zones as much during the year, all the teams you'd play would be a lot closer. You'd be a bit fresher for the playoffs. In the playoffs, to Draw LA first round, Anaheim 2nd Round, Vancouver 3rd round, and have each series go an average of 6 games, If you do make it through to the finals, look at all the travel and Time zone Changes you've gone through, compared to a Pittsburgh, who might have had to play Philadelphia, Toronto and New York. In a series of two teams that are somewhat similar in talent, all that travel does make a difference. I'll take the travel edge in the playoffs, and I'll take the rivalry with Montreal over Chicago, And the Rivalry with Toronto over St.Louis. I'll take Boston and Ottawa over Nashville and Columbus, and Move Buffalo over to the Atlantic to replace the Islanders moving out of New York. Look at that Division - Detroit, Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa and Boston. That's as close to an Original 6 Division as you're going to get.

    Howard Worthy of Mcfarlane Figure?

The Canadian and REd Wings Figures heavily outweigh the rest of the league, wich is good for this Wings fan, but yeah, it seems like every release of 8 has to have 4 Canadian teams, 1 of Crosby or Ovechkin, 1 Wings/Hawk/Bruin or Ranger and 1 new player that get his figure. It's not as bad as Baseball where every release you're getting a Yankee and A Red Sox (Red Sox? How do you singularise Red Sox?) I can't beleive they haven't released A Calvin Johnson Football figure yet....they need to get on Him and Matt Stafford, ASAP!

    Quebec City getting new arena

It wasn't really financial trouble perse..... It was back in the free trade era, when they'd have to offer a player 13-14 million in order to compete with a team like the wings that only hade to pay 10 million. (or 7 million to match a 5 million offer) Now, with the Cap, that shouldn't be an issue anymore. Also, It was Back in an era where the owner of the team was the owner of the team, and could up and move his team if he wished. Minnesota had great attendance and is right up there as the most rabid hockey City in America. It's not that they couldn't support the team, it's that Ted Green figured he could get Better TV money in a bigger market like Dallas, and Bigger corporate sponsorship. Back then, an owner could move his team, if he thought there'd be more money elsewhere. That's what happened in Hartford, Winnipeg and Quebec City. It was the individual owners who could decide to sell or move as they wished. I hate Bettman, and I'm convinced Bettman hates Canada. To his credit, Gary Bettman saw this as a problem, and in order to protect the remaining franchises like Pittsburgh, Ottawa, Buffalo, Calgary and Edmonton, He changed the process, to where a move would have to be approved by the league and Owners. As much as I would have liked to see Phoenix move up to Hamilton, it just doesn't work that way anymore. It's Bettman's new rules that prevent a private sale and relocation of a franchise, the way it happened in the Former NHL cities. Sure, all those teams relocated under Bettman's watch, but he did something to stop it from happening more. And he IS doing what he can to keep franchises where they are. Good move, Good Idea, about 15 years too late. Hopefully they can only take so much of the bleeding in the non Hockey markets and get the NHL back to where it should be.

    No Worries

I'm the last person to make excuses, but that wasn't even Hockey tonight. I'd even say the last two San Jose penalies wern't even Penalties. NHL should do what The WWF did, and Replace the H with an E. NEL The National Entertainment League. Tonight I didn't see anything that looked like a hockey game. A playoff game none the less. That's the last NEL game I watch this year until the cups on the line. No more playoffs for me.

    Need Help with this jersey

It's a Korean Knockoff, he Paid about 30$ for it. The Color of the name and Numbers are off, the spacing of everything is off. YOu'd have a case for getting your money back. Although, If Price is an issue, you're not going to get a real one for 85$ If you're a Stickler for authenticity, then I'd send it back. I got a Toews Blackhawks jersey, that looked incredible, except they used the wrong font for the name. I'm pretty much the only one that notices it, but it bugs me enough to not wear it.

Everytime I turned around Patrick Kane becomes...

HAHAHAHAHAH, If Detroit can't win this year, i'm now pulling for Chicago. For the sole fact that if they WIN, the Playoff Mullet will catch on. I'm all for it. You'd think the Biggest Hockey Star in Chicago since Jeremy Roenick could reel in something a little better than that?

    Hockey Card Collection

You Have Score 1990-91. It can be bought from a dealer for about 5$ That's how big of a Card nerd I am. Name the 1st 3 players and I know the Set. They've never been numbered by player. Upper deck numbers them by team, by Division. all companies are different as to how they number. some are Random, some are by Team by Division, Some are by Team alphabetically. I love getting sets from the 90's, however none of them are really worth anything. I picked up an 86-87 OPC 2 months ago for 150$. the Patrick Roy rookie looks like it'd be Graded at least a 9. Very happy with how that set looked. I'd say I have well over 100 sets. Now, I mainly collect the Upper Deck set every year, along with the Red wing Young guns. Gotta limit what I collect. The only way to really know what your set is worth is to look at what people are buying it for on Ebay. You can find a set that books for 50-70$, But you can buy it at a Card shop for 20$ (I've got a good card shop that I go to) or on ebay for about the same, plus shipping. That set that you've got with a Fedorov, Jagr and Sundin rookie, probably only books for 20$, and is probably worth only 5-10$ The bottom Really dropped out on cards made from 88-99. I bought 90-91 OPC Premier for maybe 80$, now it books for maybe 70-75$ and it goes on ebay for 30$

    White vs Red?

Such a Stupid comment that Makes no sense.... It is, however, exactly How I feel as well...
  16. Hey guys, going to the Pens game on Monday. My Ticket options were - Standing room for 40$, or 18 row upper corner for 56$.....I went for SRO Any advice on this? How early should I get there for? Where's the Best place to Stand? If I leave my spot during intermission, is it gonna get sniped? Is it going to Be really crowded in the good spots? Can you move around? (Ideally, I'd like to be behind Fleury every Period) Anything else I should know/expect?
  17. Tane

    standing room only.....first time.

Don't know If I'll be able to make it Before Warm ups.....Maybe, but Maybe not.... If I get a bad spot to Start, is it sort of frowned upon to hang around near the end of a period to get a good spot for the next one?

Teams that Should Have Never Changed their Jerseys

In the Move to Carolina, the city of Hartford kept the Whalers name and Franchise. That's why in video games, you can never use the whalers as classic Hurricane's jerseys, and they never have the logo to use for jersey editors. Basically the Whalers Franchise dies and Carolina was an Expansion team that got all of the Hartford Players. They Even unretired the numbers (Was Howe the only one??) and I also loved the Ugly Flying V jersey. I own a Yellow one as well as a Black #27 one. (Harold Snepts)

Teams that Should Have Never Changed their Jerseys

the Uterus Jersey IS Canned. You're Basically like me. You started watching hockey in the Early 90's, and think every team should go back to what they wore when you started watching. I'll go the Opposite way, and name off the teams I think made GOOD Changes, because, like you, I think that in 1991, Everybody had Perfect Jerseys. Somehow, the marketing Geniuses of 20 years ago NAILED it, and they've done nothing but ruin hockey since. (I've gotten to the point where I have to accept the fact that Hockey, as are other sports, is an evolving, ever changing, ever growing organism. To take a snapshot in time and wish it could always be a certain way, is unrealistic, And what the "good old days" are to us, these will be the good old days to todays generation, who 20 years from now are going to miss That Uterus) Dallas. I can't believe I'm saying this, as I was firmly against the Basketball logo when I first seen it.But after seeing it on the ice a few times, I actually like it. It's a good colour scheme, that they don't over complicate. I don't think any other team should use it, but i don't mind it being the identity of 1 team. I think i just really hated the all star jerseys they wore from 99-07 that, for me, any change was a welcome one. Edmonton - going back to the 80's, love it. LA - I like their 3rd Jersey. I also liked it when they used their Purple/Gold as their 3rd jersey. Philly - Glad they went back to the Orange as their Dark. Didn't mind the black as a 3rd, but Philly should always be orange. Phoenix - I like what they've got. They look like a hockey team. I don't like their 3rds. What they had before was terrible. Bad logo, bad design on the lower part of the jersey, and one of the worst 3rd jerseys I've ever seen. Pittsburgh - Good job going back to the old logo, didn't like the 3rd jersey that became their primary darks. Sometimes a 3rd jersey works well as a 3rd jersey, and should Stay a 3rd jersey. It seems like every time a 3rd gets popular, teams have to make it a primary. St.Louis - One of the few new designs I like, and maybe the best 3rd in the league. Tampa Bay. I don't know why, but I really really like their whites. It's a good colour scheme, it's sleek and it's simplified. One of only a few teams where losing the bottom stripes works. Vancouver - Hated their 99-97 look. Terrible colours. Just terrible. I'd prefer the Black/Yellow/Orange colours, but this is better than what they had. Just ugly colours. Washington. I didn't mind the eagle jerseys at all....actually liked them. But I hated that parliament building one they used. Bad colours, bad logo. Again, a 3rd jersey that people liked, and they went overboard with it. Nashville - One of the Jerseys I've liked the Least, looks better with what they've done with it. it's simpler, it's smooth, and i think the Grey, Blue and yellow work better together like this. Also a big fan of their 3rds, and I've heard that they're going with the thirds, and a white version as their primaries next year. One of the few cases where I'd prefer it.

    Jiri Hudler

I thought he signed in Russia for 2 years. Isn't there an agreement where both league would honor each other's contracts?

    KHL hopes to add Kovalchuk

Like the Article States. A 7 million dollar contract in Russia IS pretty much double a 7 million dollar contract in the NHL. What's the max? 11 mil? I could see an NHL team offering around 9, and a KHL team offering around 12. After the Tax difference, that's a substantial amount of extra money.

Impact of Olympics on Hockey in America

I thought spped Skating, Luge, Skeleton, Snowboarding and figure skating were the coolest things ever when someone from my country was competing for the gold. I also know that I probably won't watch more than 5 minutes of any of those sports between now and 2014. It helps when you watch a game, and you know exactly what that game means, and you know the weight of the game. After these olympics, I think maybe someone from Nashville that really got into it, Might watch the Predators if they make a deep playoff run. I think it'll create some new fans, but not a whole lot.

    Left Handers

LOL, you don't get taught anything. It's like when you pick up a pencil and start writing. you just are what you are. I throw a baseball right handed, I wright left handed, I bat both way, I shoot right handed....It's all just how you're wired.
