Had a Hard time rooting for Canada. I still did, but, if they woulda lost, can't say that I owulda been heartbroken. too many players that I flat out don't like on that team. the only thing that really pulled me that way was the fact that Yzerman, Babcock and Holland were key figured to put them together. Truth be told, there's more players on the US, Russia and Swedish teams that I like more than the Canadians. Either way, glad we won, glad for the managment. glad for the 14 golds, and what it does for Canada.

Great for Toews, bad for the Wings, that we've gotta deal with Yzerman Jr. For the next 15 years. no doubt him and Kane bring a Cup to Chicago.

I think US will be better in 4 years. I think Canada will be better in 4 years. I think slovakia, Finland, Russia, Sweden and Czech are all going to lose a lot. Rematch in 2014, and it's going to be up for Grabs. The US really did earn my respect as the 1B Hockey Power House. But for another 4 years, Canada's still 1A

I was just saying this today. I don't think any of my top 10-15 Favorite players are actually on team Canada. I like more of the American Players than I do the Canadians.

I do show them respect. I watched the Women's games whenever they were on. i watched the gold medal game twice. I bet I could name more women players off this team off the top of my head than you could. I bet I could name more women's players off the top of my head from the 1998 team off the top of my head than just about everyone here (not gonna do it, cause anyone could just look it up....but I really could) The point is, they're women. Tough. They're gonna get made fun of in life. Women are going to get ripped on especially when the obvious stereotypical set up line is there, because it's funny. Guees what? black people get made fun of too. And so do Mexicans, and so do Asians. My sister Married an American, and when we go over there, if there's a set up for a Canadian joke, they'll take it. If it's funny, everyone laughs. White male Canadians get made fun of. If there's an american joke up for grabs, you can be sure I'm taking it. And guess what? if it's funny, everyone laughs. White american Males get made fun of too. There's two ways you can react to it. Throw a fit, get in people's faces about insensitivity, and making fun of others and ruin everyone's good time....Or not take yourself so seriously and laugh. amybe it wasn't funny to you. If I hear a joke about Canadians in Igloos, I don't think it's funny. I've heard it a million times. It's not original, it's not accurate, and not funny. If there was a nice set up to where somone could throw a funny Canadians in igloos joke, and the timing of the joke is there, and the creativity is there.....guess what, I'm going to appreciate it, rather than start telling the joke teller all the great things about canada, and the climate here in Windsor is actually warmer than a decent percentage of the US, and get all bothered by the fact that he is saying all canadians live in Igloos, and he should show some decency and respect for People that build and work on houses up in Canada. I do heating and cooling for a living, and I could choose to be offended that my job is being overlooked. "Really? they have heating and cooling in Canada? I could understand the Cooling, But wouldn't a Furnace melt your igloos?" If someone came up with that on the spot, I'd think it was pretty good. I wouldn't say "you know, I work hard for a living. I wake up early in the morning, and I go to work so I can provide for my 2 year old little girl. I lift heavy things up stairs, I do dirty jobs, there are Families who, in the middle of the winter, their Furnace breaks down, and I go and provide them with heat, so 90 year old women and infant children don't have to sleep in sub zero temperatures, get sick and die. You'd think when I'm around, you could show a little class, if not for my sake, but for the sake of being a civilized dignified person." I could take it that way, but If I did, I'd come across as a pretty big ****** bag, and a lot of people probably wouldn't like me. But, for some reason, in today's world, the person that chooses to be offended is always in the right, and the person that's just trying to have some fun is villified and is supposed to feel guilt and shame. Sorry, I'm against the Pussification of North America. I think people in General should grow a thicker skin, and let a person tell a joke without having to feel the need to be the morality police and make an issue out of it. If you want people to be on your side, just take what anybody says, and then claim to be offended by the sub meaning of what he said, and their insensitivity personally angers you. You'll never be in the wrong. To me, that's wrong. So, If I've offended anybody here, Tough. That's my view and I should be able to explain it with logic, and speak with Honesty. I shouldn't have to feel any guilt or shame from my true feelings.

Lol, As a Canadian, really can't dispute that comment. Really, I don't think it's that big of a deal. Was it really that different then jon montgomery Grabbing that Pitcher of beer on his way to his interview, and drinking it during? He became a national hero for that. I think the 18 year olds shuold be charged with underaged drinking. Why do they get a free pass? Other than that, leave em alone.

With all the talk of eliminating the women's game from the olympics, I could see this happening. If it ever does get squashed from the games, I could see them doing a 7 game super series during the week or so leading up to the olympics, and just playing for their own Trophy. Do this at least until some of the other countries catch up. Or even make it a 4 team North American invitational. when the other 2 qualifying invites start to win games, then the olympics will look at them again.

Sure hope that comment did something for you. Because from here it just diminishes you that you took offence to taht cutesy macho put down, and can't take a joke. It was more of a play on the word, a witty quip, than it was a slam on women. Are you going to deny that most Hookers are women? Are you going to deny that there are tons and tons and tons of Women hookers available to anyone that wants one? Are you going to deny that in a society where women sell their bodies for a living and are going to be so easily accessible, that from a male's point of view we're going to associate women with hooking? As far as doing 1/8 of what they do on the ice, yes, most of us would kill them if they were going at 1/8 of what they could do. Line me, and 5 other guys here that have played hockey, even as a kid, and we get to play at full speed, and the women only play at 1/8 effort. We'll win. Every time. I think we should be able to go back to being able to make a joke, and not worry about offending everyone under the sun. It's not the problem with the person making the joke, it's a problem with everyone else jumping on the "I'm offended" Bandwagon. For some reason people feel they have the right to be offended, and of there's any joke that puts down any segment of the population, people feel like they can take the Joke seriously, offensively, and blow it out of proportion. Russia has been what canada was so far. They got by on Talent, but I don't feel they've meshed as a team. Russia hasn't touched the level canada played at against the US, and having that extra tune up game for Canada, I think did nothing but Great things for them. Canada wins, I don't expect too much resistance. Russia's Talent may get'em some goals. Canada Wins.

Team Canada played Real Well. Brodeur played like he just polished off a pitcher, and He and His buddies rented the Ice. If Canada plays like this the Rest of the Way, I'm confident in them. As a team, they dominated the game. It was like watching the Red Wings in the past years. Out shoot your opponent, Own the puck all game, have a few bad breaks go against you, give up a soft goal or two, and lose a game. I said before the game started that I was worried we haven't meshed as a team yet. Tonight, I saw meshing. I saw them play like a dominant team. That's a Pretty good point. I've heard More about Jim craig, Mike Eurizione and Mark Johnson than I've heard about Ryan Miller, Patrick Kane and Zach Parise.

Could you imagine what would happen to a coach if he MADE his players fight to stay on a team? There really needs to be a Pro Violence group to Counter act all the 40 year old mothers taht influence the Rules of 12 year old boys playing hockey. That coach would never be allowed near any sport for the rest of his life if that happened today.

Stanley Cup Winner vs. KHL Champion? Meh, what would really be on the line? Who would really really care? It wouldn't be much more than an exhibition series. Go backto 4 divisions. Top 2 teams in each division make the playoffs The Winner then plays the KHL Champion FOR THE STANLEY CUP. That would generate Interest and ratings. A Russian team winning the stanley cup? Nobody over here would want to see that. The logic in reducing the playoff teams, is that teams are already beat up pretty good by the SCF, to expect them to play a 5th playoff sereis would be asking too much of the players. I know I know, logic says this will never happen due to A) Playoff revenue B) legitimatizing the KHL. If European players could play all year in the KhL, and still have a chance to play for the cup, and Still have 1 sereis in North America, why would any of them come over here to play? C) Security. You bring the Cup over to Russia, you gotta trust that you'll be able to bring it back. What If a KHL team is Stanley cup champ, and then they decide not to play this sereis anymore? and just use the cup as their trophy? Could cause a huge mess. I think it would be great for the game, and Everybody would care very much about the Stanley cup finals. Even the Americans would be on board. Carolina vs. Edmonton, who cares, But carolina vs. a Russian team with the Cup on the line....That's Huge. People would watch, people would care.

WE need A general Rule. Ban Roughhousing alltogether. Or Shut the F up, and Leave Kids alone. Kids fight, they play rough, they get hurt, it's been going on sincethe beginning of time. I also did this 10 years ago. It's not new, and it's not alarming. Ban every human from making any contact with other humans, Or let em be. Pick one, then shut up about it.

I think Hockey is big enough in Switzerland, and is gaining enough steam For the swiss to become the 8th major hockey country. Right now there are 7 (US, Canada, Russia, Finland, Sweden, Czech and Slovakia) The odds are against them, but in such a short tournament, anyone can get a hot goalie, and win 3 games in a row. I said before in the WJC thread that winning a gold medal doesn't necessarily mean you're the BEST team. It just means you've won that tournament. The better your team is the better the ODDS are that you'll win. but really, Swiss beat Canada 2-0 in torino, Belarus knocked out Sweden on a fluke goal in Salt Lake City. 1980 Team USA, played the game of their lives at the right time, and carried that momentum to a gold medal. It can happen in a single elimination tournament. I don't think it will, but I'll never say it wont'.

I'd love for them to go back to Divisional playoffs. With this many teams, 4 teams from each divison would work well. And that's how you create rivalries. Especially within the Division. Having to play the same teams every year in the playoffs. not playing the same teams ALL year in the regular season.

Leafs unloaded 6 players who were in my mind, Junk, Spare parts and Wastes of contracts. I think they've improved their team a lot. even though I live in Windsor, at the heart of the Wings/Leafs rivalry, It'd be nice to see an original 6 team take up playoff spots instead of Carolina, Florida, Atlanta, Tampa Bay, etc.

I like him as our 2nd Line Centre. I'd say by the end of the year, He'll have had a Full season in that role (minus the Injury) And by Next year, you can count on 50-60 points. I'm fine with that.

If datsyuk can will himself to the level he played at in overtime last week against the hawks, When he decided to blow by Brian Campbell, and Give him a piggy back ride towards the net, he'll be fine. That was the most impressive play I've seem from him all year. We just need to see more of it.

As Long as it's a team in the East, other than Toronto, I can live with it. If he does stay in the West, please nobody in our division, and especially please not chicago.
