Ice Condition for Monday and Wednesday?

Hey, I came in from Calif to check out this game -- anyone in Big D know when the morning skates usually happen, and if they open up the arena to the public at all for them? I am staying right next door.

    Masterton Finalists

My thought is that his nomination is a nod to the PA -- all the leadership Cheli has shown on behalf of the players since the lockout -- he and Linden helped make sure the sport could survive on TV at all...

3/28 GDT: Blues 4, Red Wings 3 (OT)

Yeah...NHL Network...and it just went to sh!t. All my other dig sports channels are OK, as is Center Ice, so it's just this channel. Way to go Comcast...remind me again why I ever switched from DirecTV?!?! On to NHL.com radio... Let's go Mule!

    Wings Toronto Hotel

I'm staying at the Westin and can confirm that they are here. Had a nice brief chat yesterday with Lebda and Downey about their skate (it was a tough skate after the 3rd period meltdown vs LA...they laughed about it), traded a cab with Homer to go over to the alumni game, and ran into McClellan and Mickey in the elevators after breakfast this morning. Everyone's pumped to be here (including me).

    Who's going to Toronto?

I'm going to be in Toronto and plan to catch the Wings/Leafs alumni game downtown at the Ricoh Center on Friday night, then the big game on Saturday afternoon...anyone else around? I'm just going in by myself seeking scattered singles at this point... Go Wings!

    Wings in St. Louis

So I am in St. Louis for work, going to the game tomorrow night here -- anyone know where the Wings stay when they come here? Our client put us up at the Ritz in a suburb of the city, so I was thinking there was a semi-decent chance they could be staying here, which would be pretty sweet. Any insights appreciated...

    Wings in St. Louis

I am going to be doing double takes every time I see a bus. Well, it'd be about time for the morning skate pretty soon, so I'd better head down and see if a bunch of Canadians, Swedes, a Fin, couple Russians, a and couple Czechs, and Captain America come through the lobby.

11/7 GDT: Red Wings 3, Predators 2 (SO)

Fellow Centre Ice Subscribers: The Wings game isn't on the slate of games for tomorrow night, and it's not on VS or any other cable channel. Does anyone know what's up with this??!! I am going to call Comcast in the morning...
  16. One perspective from being at the game last night -- Lidstrom was put into trouble on this play. With Niedermayer charging the point hard, Rafalski has to either get the puck up against the boards (so that Rob's only option is to chip it out near center), or lose the zone and get everyone re-grouped. He made a risky play and it burned him -- just like Stuart got burned when he couldn't control the puck and lost it to Draper on the shorty in L.A. Hasek looked, to quote Don Cherry, "like a water buffalo wallowing around in a swap" last night. On this particular play, he was way too far in the net, and it was a very easy goal for Pahlsson. He had tons of time and lots of net to look at. If there was anything the Ducks appeared to learn offensively from our season opener, it's that you shoot on Dom, don't bother making moves (like they tried to in the shooutout) -- his positional play is weak but his coverage after dekes is still solid. As for Nick, my best guess is that he is assuming Rafalski is getting back to cover anyone else that is joining Niedermayer on the rush. In theory, Rafalski had plenty of time to get back and couldn't do it. Overall, it is now almost impossible to watch the Wings play at Honda center. They have lost 5 of the last 6 games there, and lost the last 2 of the last 3 after going into the 3rd period all tied up. It's the same story that will continue to plague this team until we can figure out WTF these refs are going to hold us accountable for so we can play 5-on-5 for a change... Damn!

One of these days I'll swap out my Dell for an iMac, but until then... is a compilation of my movies and pics from Game 6 against SJ from Section 228. Enjoy!

Video from Game 6 in SJ

That's a remix of the music from Gladiator...I thought it was fairly appropriate... Yeah...unless you have the crazy-powered flash like the press corps has, it's hard to get a good picture or video in there. That's why my pics (and the NBC/Versus crew, for that matter) can't do any better. I'm not sure if it's some crazy technology that's designed to make the playing surface easier to see, but even from our normal seats in the lower level, it's a dark place.

    Redwings flashback: 2002

At home on the couch in San Francisco. Had left the office around 3:00 to start getting fired up. My roommate came home from work 6 minutes in the game and couldn't believe it was really 2-0 already. Later that night, I had buddies over who wanted to flip to a Celtics b-ball playoff game after it was 7-0. Nobody at my place was from Boston, so I refused and got a little bit of sh!t for it, but what a day that was...

Red Bird II is flying home

Does anyone know why the stop in Nebraska? I haven't been tracking them much of this season, but I can't imagine they're stopping for fuel on every trip out West -- maybe Zumaya was hitchhiking out there and flashed a mirror?

    White Jerseys Again?

I live in San Francisco, and even though I see many more Wings games than SJ Sharks games courtesy of Center Ice, I do agree with something Marty McSorley (doing color for the Sharks) said - that having the road team wear the colored jersey is more fun because the fans get to see a cool rotation of opponents' colors. As it is now, every team that comes into your building wears white, which is kind of boring. Guess it just depends on what fits your fancy.

    White Jerseys at Home

Anyone know whether the Wings are trying to re-establish the wearing of the white jerseys at home? We did it vs. Chicago last Friday, then today again vs. Boston...
