By the sounds of it Howard really worked hard to improve his game in the offseason after having a down year the year before. And the numbers reflect that. It makes sense that the team would want to reward the guy who works hard, it promotes meritocracy and work ethic on the team as a whole. It's too bad he received the injury he did, It would have saved us from the atrocious season Mrazek had. Despite what you would imply, Howard has never had a season as bad as Mraz did this year.
Howard love around here? After 3,297 posts I would think you have been around here long enough to know this place as been Mrazek love fest since he entered the league. Only now is everyone coming back down to earth... but that doesn't mean people love Howard around here lol.  

And, it wouldn't be much of a "wake up call" if we (and Mrazek) knew that Holland was sure Mrazek would not be selected.  So, if that's the case, we're likely to remain unaware of Holland's exact reasoning on the decision.

De Haas is really starting to heat up for Clarkson University. He has 28 points (7 goals, 21 assists) in 34 games and 10 points (2 goals, 8 assists) in his last 3 games. He will likely make the jump to pro next season to play a season or two in Grand Rapids before getting a shot in Detroit. I don't think he will ever be anything more than a bottom 4 stay at home defenseman at the NHL level, but at 6'3", 215 lbs, smooth skater, decent first pass and shot, he could be a nice addition in a year or two...

Ditched our UFAs as we demanded. Huge return on loser Smith, and even HUGER return for Vanek (new Dylan is massive).
We are brimming with draft picks and I cannot wait to see New Dylan punch some heads off. As a rebuilding team I think its smart to sacrafice skill for nastiness. Hes not going to take ice time from any of our kids who need it, while also being able to utterly destroy anyone who opens there mouth around our young stars. Perfect. Should give our kids a nice confidence boost and safety net.

It's not like there was another deal that made it look bad. Numerous rentals didn't even get dealt. Those teams get nothing. At least we got something.
