SweWings got a reaction from Namingway in Wings to Europe: Tracking which DRW players are playing where
Well Nyquist is headed to the Griffins according to Aftonbladet.se. Seems like a pretty exhaustive list, at least concerning Swedish players.
EDIT: Figured I'd go ahead and translate what the rest of the DRW players are planning on doing:
Henrik Zetterberg, 31, Detroit Red Wings.
Staying in Detroit for now and working out. Will go to another club at the earliest around Christmas and if it's Sweden the Timrå is the only option.
Niklas Kronwall, 31, Detroit Red Wings.
Will take a couple of weeks to see if the conflict gets resolved. After that he'll play for Djurgården in Sweden to help them get back to the SEL.
Johan Franzén, 32, Detroit Red Wings.
Will continue working out with team mates at the rink they've rented together in Detroit.
Mikael Samuelsson, 35, Detroit Red Wings.
Says that it will take a lot for him to play anywhere else. Wants to be with his family after many years of moves across NA.
Jonathan Ericsson, 28, Detroit Red Wings.
The Swedish Detroit player who seems most eager to play. Even rumored that he might join his old club Vita Hästen in Division 1 (That would be the 3rd tier league in Sweden).
Gustav Nyquist, 23, Detroit Red Wings.
Starts the season with the Grand Rapids Griffins.
Jonas Gustavsson, 27, Detroit Red Wings.
Has not made a decision, continues to work out with new team mates in Detroit.
Tomas Holmström, 39, Detroit Red Wings
Still hasn't decided if he'll continue to play or retire.

Well for the European players it's a chance to play at home, for the NA players it's a chance to visit some other country they might not really ever have visited (don't underestimate that, change of scenery is a big deal, at least it has been for me). For all players it's a chance to continue playing competitively and to continue making money (for those going to the KHL, a lot of money).

I've said it before, I'll do it again: if this happens I'm definitely getting a Commodore #64 Red Wings t-shirt (I'd love to get the jersey but it ain't exactly in my budget right now).

Yeah, or you just trade Hudler to free up a spot? Maybe? Which is what Holland's been trying to do? (Oh and the bolded words/statement really makes convincing me that much easier. As far as I know I haven't insulted you in a post or reduced myself to childish name-calling).

Anyone think there might be a reason why none of the legit contenders were willing to sign Ehrhoff, Wiz or Kaberle to big contracts?\
Wiz doesn't have the body of work to justify a 6 year 5.5 million dollar cap hit on a real team. I wanted the Wings to sign him but not for a deal like that.
I'm glad Holland isn't the kind of dumbass GM who makes a signing in the summer just so he can have a big, exciting press conference to make all the fans happy. If there isn't a piece that fits the Wings in terms of the team AND the salary structure the smart move is to look for other options.
I just checked the calendar and it's not October. I also checked NHL.com to see where the Wings were in the 2011-2012 standings... looks like we're fine there as well. Let's not flip out just yet.

Man, you should bunch together the entire 1989 Detroit draft picks as number 1 . Lidstrom, Fedorov, Sillinger, Drake, Konstantinov. Not a bad year at all...

SweWings got a reaction from The Secret in Daniel Larsson's comments on Osgood&Howard
I think you're exaggerating more than a little but I see your point. Thing is, a lot of current European goalkeepers in the NHL don't really take the AHL path, especially in recent years. That might partially be due to desperation but also because they've often proven themselves in their domestic league + international competitions and that experience tends to be equivalent to any AHL experience. If Larsson keeps his current stats in the Swedish league he will probably win Best Goalkeeper of the Year in the SEL and be among the front runners for the No. 1 in the Swedish national team in the 2011 WC. If he grabs that spot and does well, a big IF considering there will probably be more than 1 NHL goalie around, then I don't see why Detroit wouldn't take a chance on him as back up.

Seems like an ok amount. The guy doesn't have any history of doing anything remotely close to this so that likely limited the amount of games to 6. How many games do you think these guys would've gotten?
