For about 50 years, yes. But how long have the Yankees been around? 1903. Regardless, the point is jerseys change, it's not a big deal. Everyone is making it sound sac religious to add a third jersey. Not change the logo, not eliminate one of the two current jerseys, add a third. Big freakin' deal. So what if it's all about making some extra money! Isn't that what it's all about anyway? Making money? And before you answer, remember the lockout. And no, in baseball the jerseys aren't always different 'word mark'. Take the Atlanta Braves for instance. Same jersey, just different colors. Hell, if you want to go there, look at the Tigers, they have been around longer than the Wings and they have gone through some jersey's too. Again, it's just a matter of time before it happens.

This is the best goal every scored. Hands down. No question.

Val also shot the puck before he was tripped. What's your point?

I hate when people say things like that. The truth is, you can only speculate. Who's to say he wouldn't have had 3 or 4 rough seasons? Or that the rehab he went through with his knee gave him the drive to be as good as he was for as long as he was? I hear this all the time with my buddy, 'If Mario didn't have cancer...' Boo-freakin'-hoo. Part of being one of the greats is having the luck to stay healthy your entire career. Just ask Pat Peak what it's like to have an injury truely ruin your career.

yes, the have had solid whites, pinstripes, and greys. the basic jersey you see today in pinstripes has been the same a long time.
-
Yes, but the New York Yankees have most history than the Wings. BTW, even the Yankees have a few different jerseys.

You are missing one HUGE element of the McCarty goal. The series was 3-0, Philly was getting shut down not just that game, but pretty much all series long. Val's goal was nice, but he has hands. Mac shouldn't a) ever get that type of chance or b) actually pull something like that off. Unbelievable. That said, I think neither of the goals is top 10. Gotta love Nash and Ovechkin's goals against Phoenix.

The entire game isn't on there, but I think it's side b of disc 1 has the highlights of the '98 Cup run. That would be enough for me to keep my twins intact.

Because they actually browse the site for ideas, right? Why does everyone have to be so down on the idea of a fresh take on the classic jersey? It's just a matter of time before something significant changes in the Wings jersey. The Wings and Montreal are the only O6 teams who haven't had an alternate. It will happen, it's just a matter of time. EDIT: Come to think of it, Montreal, Detroit, and Carolina are the only teams who haven't changed their jersey's somewhat.

SAVE YOUR LEFT NUT!!!!!!!

Did you watch that game?! That was the straw the broke the camels back. Seeing that clip still gives me chills. It has to be one of the best goals ever scored. 1. Timing of it - Elimination game of the SCF, clutch. 2. Who did it - Darren freakin' McCarty, his hands are for pounding faces, not pulling off a move that Fedorov might.

The thread dislikes everything about you.... Seriously though, how do you dislike everything about the thread? Either you are for a Wings alternate or not. Both sides are represented in this thread.

If he doesn't put up 40+ it will be a disappointed season for Hossa (stat-wise).

I like the concept there, but I'd eliminate the white underarms and shoulder area, add a winged-wheel to the shoulder (but not as close to the neck as they are on the mock with the old english d), move the 'C' back to the right shoulder, add red piping, and try a different font for 'detroit' maybe old english? As I said before, I'm not photoshop guru, far from it, just some thoughts...
-
That's exactly the jersey I'd love to see. And I bet the players would like it as it would help them keep warm on the bench?
-
The Wings logo is hard to mess with and get anything that looks good as a result. I'm all for the Wings getting a third jersey, but I think you have to move the winged-wheel to the shoulder, or not have it on the jersey at all. So far, I haven't seen anything that I really liked. But I was thinking, why not just a simple black jersey, with Detroit running across the front from right shoulder to the left bottom, and the logo on the shoulder? Someone should try to photoshop that (i don't mess with photoshop, and the world is a better place for it). I think it would be pretty cool to see the Wings in all black equipment, with red highlights.
-
I'm confused. On one hand you agree that a black jersey looks nice, but they you slam the Celtics for using one? What would black have to do with the Wings? In reply to whomever said they didn't like the numbers on the front: Personally, I really like that look. It's something new to the NHL. Who cares if the jersey of the captains and alternates of the few teams using the numbers on front might look a little clustered if they make it to the finals? The only difference between that situation and the Wings this past finals is that the Wings had an empty shoulder. For the Winter Classic I'd love to see the Wings sport the actual sweaters. The ones that were off-white with the Wings logo that looks like it was drawn by, well someone with my artistic skills (not good).
-
I was referring to the other NHL teams. The third jersey Dallas used was a different than anything anyone in the NHL had.
-
I'm not so sure. They were simple, but they work very well. It's a different style than anyone else had, close to what Tampa had, the black Tampa jersey was my second fav (Washington's red tops my list). But really, you are the Stars, there really isn't too much room for creativity with their current logo and name.
-
I liked what Dallas did with their jerseys. They could have done a lot worse, like keeping the original third jersey.....
-
I really dig that Phoenix jersey, it looks the best out of all of the concepts, IMHO.
-
Well, regardless of what he was trying to say, Hank has never 'officially' or whatever you want to call it, worn 15. For that matter, he's just worn 40. That's all I'm saying.
-
I'd love to spear him. However, despite his rapid weight gain, and sharp decline in skill since leaving the NHL, he is still pretty damn good. Not to mention I'm sure he whoop my ass. Although it would make a great story! I like Kozlov a lot. I think he got a bad rep because he wasn't nearly as good as Sergei was at either end of the ice.
