Went to the ATM tonight expecting to find around $620 total in the account from his last work check. Went ahead and took out $200 for the weekend. The reciept then came out and told him that his account balance was: $5,312.

Don't know whats gonna happen with the situation, I assume that the bank will catch the mistake but its crazy.

Either way me and our friends got a free meal out of it thumbup.gif

Just thought id share...

free? how?

Basically, he has direct deposit checking for his job. He was supossed to get a 20 cent raise over the last year but never got it. They caught it and were supossed to refund him $600 in back pay.

Tonight, expecting the deposit to be around $800 (Refund + a couple days work) he seen that his balance went from $20 to $5,300 in a week.

Maybe its just a mistake that the bank/work will catch but I have no idea. If it were me id walk into the bank tommorrow and tell them about it but I don't think hes leaning towards that.

A whole years pay in a week..

Eventually im sure someone will notice.

wow bill. he should look at his recent transactions to see if the mistake was made by his employer or the bank.

banks hardly ever make a mistake.... trust me on that wink.gif

I'd advise him to check it out. Sure, a s***ton of extra money that comes out of nowhere is nice, but someone made a mistake somewhere. If its direct deposit, I'd doubt it was the bank. I'd have him call his employer and have them check it out. Someone in payroll probably screwed something up.
