Manny Ramirez is reportedly not happy with the Boston Red Sox. This is the 3rd time in four years he has stated he is unhappy and would like to be traded.

no one will take him. they left the guy on waivers and no one took him.

i guess that's what happens when you sign a 2-tool player to a contract worth over 20 million a season.

I still think this story is just another case of a reporter trying to stir up a story that isn't there. His fellow players are calling shenanigans on this one, so I am as well.

Apparently he refused to play today because Francona said he could have the day off but then Nixon got injured and Manny said I ain't playing.

Maroth, Johnson, Rondell White, Nook Logan...for Manny Ramirez!

The only way Manny could ever be of use to the Tigers is if he played DH and nothing else.

Could you imagine him trying to cover ground in Comerica's outfield??

fielding's overrated. moneyball philosophy. you wind up paying too much for fielding when an exceptional fielder is only gonna save about 17 more runs a year than a crappy one, while an exceptional hitter is gonna score about 70 more than a crappy one.

that being said, manny is definitely overpaid. he puts up numbers comparable to guys like a-rod, vlad, abreu, tejada, and others, yet for that kind of money, you need to have at least a little bit of fielding and maybe some speed.

and, the king of moneyball, mr. beane, wanted manny out of left and into the dh spot.

doesnt look like manny is coming to my mets....3yrs $64 mil. left on his contract also....the owner of the mets even approved of the deal with the added cash they would be taking on in salary....adding him into the lineup would have been huge, lugo and baez from TB would have been added as well...3 hours left, its still possible

with manny staying in Boston probably...why would he DH?...Ortiz is the DH, they have Millar and Olerud to play 1st base, just curious to what would happen with Ortiz then?

Quite the opposite is true.

When you have an excellent fielding team behind you that you can trust as a pitcher thats a big deal. So a great fielding team can be a catalyst for a pitcher. Plus they do save the obvious runs by making great plays. Then on top of the rest an error is the fastest way to turn momentum in a ball game.

Fielding, and throwing are the cheapest tools to buy, and with all of their effects how could they be overrated?
