Bliz 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2005 Well, the Tigers at least have a decent leadoff hitter for the next few seasons. Polanco/Guillen/Shelton/Ordornez makes for a damn good top four, too. Starting pitching is improving and the bullpen is *finally* coming together. Maybe we'll see the Tigers in the playoffs sometime in the next couple years. Here's hoping anyway. BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted August 2, 2005 Great news!!! I heard a rumor on another site that Pudge wants out of Detroit, he and Tram aren't getting along.
Bliz 0 Report post Posted August 2, 2005 If we could get a bluechip hitting prospect, I'd deal Pudge. His stats aren't irreplaceable.

eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted August 3, 2005 The way Inge is hitting, and the kind of D he can play behind the plate, we could just as easily look for a 3rd baseman and put Inge back at catcher, or trade Pudge for one. Or put Infante in the lineup and move Polanco over-he has played plenty of third. Polanco/Guillen/Infante/Shelton, Monroe/Granderson/Ordonez, Inge? Not a bad lineup, plenty of good youth and excellent vets.
BlakChamber 8 Report post Posted August 3, 2005 It wouldn't surprise me if Infante is on his way out this season. He was a big disapointment this year, after his great season last year. Both Inge and the Tigers have made it sound like they're happy with him at the hot corner, so I don't really see him moving back behind the plate. You never know though. 3Hasek9 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2005 inge has said he's not a catcher. he doesn't catch anymore, and he has no intentions of returning to the position. when someone (a reporter. not an actual offer) proposed to him just before the asg when pudge had the jammed finger that, if pudge were too hurt to play, inge take pudge's place behidn the plate for the asg, inge said no thanks he doesn't catch. I wasn't stating it as a preferred path. Simply that it was a possible course of action if we had to trade Pudge.
3Hasek9 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2005 they'd trade for one of the many craptastic catchers otu there before puttign inge back there. inge's offense suffered when he caught. he says he expended too much energy behind the plate to hit well.
