Sure he's worth it, he was an important part on the Canadiens during their last cup run, if I remember correctly, him and Desjardans we're the #1 and #2 defensemen. His point speak for themselves, he's at the point in his career where he's just below Lidstrom is offensive ability, but just above the average defensemen in defense ability.

There was really no other defensemen of his calibre that would be had for under 3m. If Gonchar is worth 5m a season, Schnieder is worth 3.3, easily.

What was Kenny thinking?

Schneider is going to provide alot of leadership on the blueline for us and take over much of the role Chelios has played the last several years. He is about the most fearsome player we have right now. He is well worth the money.

Time will tell, but I'm leaning more towards him being worth it. With Datsyuk gone, the team is going to need to rely more on it's defense, and finding a Dman as skilled as Schneider for less than the 3.3 he signed would be difficult.

This guy is a great asset to the team. I think he fits in well with the Wings and can even play a mentor roll with guys like Lebda and Kronwall, assuming we bring Lebda back up like we should.
