In a 2005 study published by the journal Nature, researchers at Durham University in England concluded that, across a range of sports, we found that wearing red is consistently associated with a higher probability of winning. The researchers also suggested that red's effect may subconsciously intimidate opponents in athletic contests, especially when the athletes are equal in skill and strength.

Anna Kournikova was rankd in the top ten in the world among women's tennis players.
She's not an athlete because she hasn't won?
I guess that rules out Marcel Dionne, Roberto Luongo, Chris Pronger, Pat LaFontaine in the NHL, Dwayne Wade, Karl Malone in the NBA, Ken Griffey Jr., Barry Bonds, Roy Halladay, Edgar Martinez in baseball, Dan Marino and Barry Sanders in the NFL?

What do you consider an athlete? I can think of some other women who are athletic, work hard at their job, and get paid nearly the same as women athletes.
Hockey is 90% mental. The other half is physical.

Michelle Wie constantly crosses my mind when I make these assessments for my list.... however, since shes still young enough to potentially be my daughter, I will restrain myself from adding her to my list till shes atleast legally old enough to drive... which will be soon I suppose.
As for Danica Patrick. Shes attractice, but since I know she has a tattoo on her back, I am instantly turned off her. Even without the eyesore, I would be hard pressed to wedge her onto the top 25 list.
