Hey guys my team is in real trouble right now. I replaced M. Bergeron with Klesla and now he is out for 3-4 weeks, and now Kronwall is hurt for at least six weeks. I know I can put both these guys on IR, but that leaves me with only Boynton to replace on D, and he isn't even signed yet. I know I can leave him on the bench, but I am not sure who to pick at the beginning of the season. Here's a list of 15 guys I was looking at to possibly pick up till the others come up. Give me your opinion on who I should take.
1. Frantisek Kaberle-Carolina
2. Jiri Slegr-Boston
3. Chris Phillips-Ottawa
4. Rhett Warrener-Calgary
5. Ruslan Salei-Anahiem
6. Scott Hannan-San Jose
7. Hal Gill-Boston
8. Jiri Fischer-Deroit
9. Mark Eaton-Nashville
10. Mathieu Dandenault-Montreal
11. Brendan Witt-Washington?
12. Andreas Lilja-Detroit
13. Ken Klee-Toronto
14. Robyn Regehr-Calgary
15. Mike Rathje-Philadelphia
My first two picks are Fischer (he should finally have a good season), and Jiri Slegr (I saw him in a preseason game, and he loves to take a lot of shots. It slso looks like he will get plenty of PP time.) After that it would be Phillips, Lilja, or Eaton.

when Boynton resigns with boston Slegr will not see much ice time, Rehger is out atleast a month due to knee surgery, I had the same problem drafting in my leauge and took Kaberle on one team and Warrener on another. Well that's my scouting report.

If your league doesn't count how many times you can play a certain positions I'd say screw picking up D-men at this point.
Just pick up some good forwards and play them when you can. If you think about it how many points are you missing by not playing D? You could easily replace that with random forwards throughout the week. Just make sure you have someone who can add extra PIMS and +/- because that's where D normally contributes the most.
If you absolutely have to pick up some D try going with some of Atlanta's young D (Sutton, Coburn) and Chicago and Philly should have good defensive years. Plus don't forget Teverdovky, and Ozalinsch (sp?) normally put up good numbers and they're ranked pretty low. And if you want a wing Chelios is ranked pretty low to and he's good for PIMs normally.
