STEFAN LIV

Liv had an off seaon last year, where the Swedish Eliteserien was filled with a vast amount of NHL players, man yof which were of higher calibur. The season before that he posted career best numbers in both GAA and save% in both regular season and playoffs. All this despite suffering a knee injury. After the injury he led HV-71 to the SEL championships, where he posted four of his five shutouts in the playoffs.

The major problem he faces now in the Wings organization, is their depth at the goaltending position. What also hurts is he isn't even the highest ranked goaltending prospect. He is behind Howard, who has foregone his senior season at Maine, and possibly even MacDonald, who has shown that he is ready to take on the NHL level as at least a backup.

Detroit will have Osgood and Legace splitting time in Detroit. They will probably have MacDonald and Howard split time in Grand Rapids, and have Koopmans, MacIntyre split time in Toledo, or send one of the two to another ECHL team, such as Augusta or any other independent ECHL team.

After this season, depending on the numbers that Liv puts up, and how MacDonald and Howard do this season in GR. You might see Liv sign next season. I doubt Detroit will keep Legace and Osgood. Howard will probably stay in GR, with Liv and MacDonald will be backup to whoever Detroit picks up via trade or free agency. MacIntyre probably will not be resigned, and Koopmans will stay in Toledo.
