He's always cranky, I mentioned that to the nurse at the kid's doc office becasue he's friends with him and she said he's like that all the time. So at least we know it's not just becasue we are fans. That's unusual...Cleary is usually standoffish with me. I don't know why. Oh well...

Thanks Offsides

And poor Monster has all this nice new gear that he won't be able to use!

My priorities: 1-Hockey. 2-Sleep. 3-Food. 4-Everything Else.

And I think FB has Linda on their mind today:

THROWBACK THURSDAY: In Game 6 of the 2002 Western Conference Finals, the Avalanche tried pulling out all the stops to score on the Wings.
They even forced the refs to measure Dominik Hasek's stick during the game as they claimed it was illegal.
The ploy did not work as the stick was legal and the attempt failed to rattle Hasek. He posted a shutout to clinch the series, and the team moved on to win another Stanley Cup!

I loved how Dom skated over to the bench to retrieve his LEGAL stick, gesturing to Kerry Fraser and nodding his head like, "Give it here, mmm-hmmm, yep, I told you it was fine." LOL~ If they meant to get Dom off his game, it didn't work, did it? One of my favorite series of all time, Wings v. Avs 2002.
The rest of this story is that Bob Hartley's son was/is a goalie, and a big Hasek fan. Hartley asked Dom for an autographed stick for his son, which Dom signed and sent to him. He sent a new stick, factory spec, which came with an untrimmed blade... slightly wider than was allowed in the NHL at the time. One can assume Hartley was too stupid to know that Dom and most other goalies shave the blades down to legal and hand-tape them prior to using them in a game.
Afterward, Dom was so sly, saying "Well, I can see how he might have thought I play with too big blade, but no... I take care of that before going on the ice, like the rules say." I do not put it past Dom to have intentionally sent the factory stick, so Hartley would make that mistake -- probably giving Dom too much credit, but it was funnier than Hell, anyway, to me.

The one in the middle is kind of cute, too.
Nice high-tops, Flip. Makes me sad that this might be the only time I see my Val in a Wings jersey this season.
