Heaton 1 Report post Posted October 31, 2005 I don't have much to say but, Jeff Garcia is Joey Harrington who can scramble. I saw nothing that put me at ease with Garcia at the helm that Harrington hasn't done while he was here. Harrington throughout his career has put us in a position to win, just to throw an interception or take a sack or whatever to blow it. Jeff Garcia is no improvement, and just as a further point, the god awful Houston Texans beat the Browns today, so the win last week meant little.

Vladinator 0 Report post Posted October 31, 2005 Fire Mootch! His play calling is awful... I agree...even though Mootch supposedly isn't calling the plays... Garcia tried to hard to force matters. With the way our defense was playing, that is the last thing that our offense should have been doing... The crazy flip that ended up being called intentional grounding was pure stupidity on Garcia's part...I know that he is good at making something out of nothing, but that was incredibly dumb and the Lions were extremely lucky that it didn't hurt them... BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted October 31, 2005 The problem has never been about just the quarterback. Harrington wasn't very good, but I don't think any quarterback in the NFL could save this offense unless some other major changes take place. The offensive line is terrible. Jeff Backus might as well line up facing the quarterback. He's facing that way soon after every snap anyway, looking back at the man who beat him. The play calling is lame and unimaginative. The receiving corps is unwilling to do any of the things that give the QB a chance to make a play, even simple things like coming back to the ball. The running game can't succeed because they don't give Jones a hole. The team lacks discipline and I'm pointing my fingers at the coaching staff right now. These rookie kids have shown me nothing. The coaching staff is way too tolerant. I want a real ball buster in there. A Parcells type coach. Someone who takes absolutely no sh** from the players and humiliates them when they don't show up. Which is often.
dallas27 7 Report post Posted October 31, 2005 Keep in mind Garcia is about "70%" Garcia is an improvement over Harrington...Garcia just made some stupid decisions yesterday. Joey has made about 100 more stupid mistakes throughout his career than Garcia has and he has been playing in this league for 7 years. Funny how people give Garcia TWO games to judge him but give Joey 3.25 years

Funny how people give Garcia TWO games to judge him but give Joey 3.25 years Sorry man, but f**k that, if Joey Harrington was in the game yesterday and pulled the s**t that Garcia pulled the fans would've burned the stadium DOWN. If Garcia is only 70% he shouldn't have been playing, we would be in exactly the same place if Joey were in. Seriously, he made Joey-like mistakes the entire game, the only thing Garcia has over Joey is that he makes some things out of nothing, but who cares? The end result is the same. Garcia is not the answer, he's not a step up, he's a step to the side, he's 35 years old, what is the next move? Personally, I'd fire Mooch, fire Millen, at this point another shake up is needed and if the coaching isn't the problem, we need to trade our entire offense away. He has personaly said that he is only 70 or 75%....and he's still better than Joey at that. Think real hard for a second....would Mooch be playing Garcia if he didn't think he was better? If Garcia wins that game your kissing his ass, simple as that. I'm not making it out to be that Garcia is going to take the Lions to the Super Bowl or he's gonna be on this team for years to come but he is better than Joey. The Lions NEVER WIN two weeks ago with Harrington in. I notice you didn't make ANY comments on his play that game maybe becuase you can't make any comments without him making any mistakes. Garcia also has a 75 qb rating over Joeys 55 Edited October 31, 2005 by dallas27
Heaton 1 Report post Posted November 1, 2005 First off, I really haven't made any comments all season, I've said that Harrington has been playing like s**t, it's not like I'm here apologizing for Joey or anything. And Garcias first game was against the Cleveland Browns, Dan Orlovsky would've won that game, and we still only managed 13pts and ZERO passing touchdowns, Garcia hasn't thrown a passing touchdown all season and he's an improvement? I, for one, don't care if Joey Harrington ever plays another down, but don't piss on me and say it's raining. If Garcia wins that game your kissing his ass, simple as that. I'm not kissing any QB's ass in this town until they win a playoff game at the VERY LEAST, I'll say, wow, he had a great game, but I'm sure as hell not gonna jump on his bandwagon until he does something. Because as of now, all Garcia has done is win a game that any QB would've won, and lost a game that he should've won to solidify his starting position, he's done nothing yet, and yeah I know, if Roy was in or if C-Rog was in blah blah, good QB's win games with what they have. Joey Harrington and Jeff Garcia are not good QB's, Jeff was at one point, he isn't anymore. If he proves me wrong, fine, but it's the New Lions, same as the Old Lions. dallas27 7 Report post Posted November 1, 2005 (edited) Joey or Orvlosky DOES NOT WIN THAT GAME. Garcia had to scramble for that td, Joey can barely put his right foot past his left out there. Orvlosky maybe, he has shown in the Motor City Bowl that he can scramble, but that was college. Garcia made quite a few good plays out there during that game to win it for them, something that Harrington has failed to do game in and game out. Garcia did something that Harrington couldn't, put points on the board. He got a win out of one and another that he "put them into position to win" That's an improvement in my book, may not be much, but it is an improvement.
