"The Wings are undecided on whether to bring Grigorenko, a right wing, to North America next season."

You're joking right? Surely they will bring him over, he'll be 30 by the time they finally decide he belongs in Detroit.

With the kind of accident he had and the recovery process, there's no way to set a concrete plan up....you just set milestones and goals and take action once he reaches them. The Wings aren't "undecided", that's just a short word to show that they don't know how the season will go. They probably already at least know what the decision will be based on.

As a frame of reference Pavel had 26 points (9 g 17a) in 42 games the season before jumping into the Wings lineup.

Igor is sitting at 17 points (6g 11a) in 23 games. His pace has slowed down with some sort of nagging injury, but he's still leading his team and tied for 10th league wide. And according to people who have seen him play he has his speed that he had prior to the accident.

Igor is the same age as Pavel was in his development (he would have been 2-3 years ahead without the accident). Unless he's still not recovered and is doing so well in spite of his leg injury I don't see any reason not to bring him over next season.

Not to mention we could use a highly skilled speedy right winger.

peace

I am not counting on the guy getting here so if it happens great! He has lost a step and still is not 100% -- his accident may have caused him a career, but we should just wait and see. If he is indeed ready next fall they will have room for him. *Hoping for the best*

With the new NHL, and salary cap issues, Grigorenko has no guarantees. No joke.

My bet is that they pull a Franzen, keep him in Russia until he is ready and bring him straight to the big leagues.

Franzen came over the first NHL season after his draft year.

Zetterberg and Datsyuk are better examples of a player who was picked and left in his home country and jumped right on the roster.

Sure but Franzen was never drafted and was, what? 23 when they picked him? So Igor stays in Russia with some kind of contract until he is ready when (perhaps) he is Franzen's age. That is assuming he will make it.

i think this guy is ready to explode if he can keep his body together. He's exactly what detroit needs a speedy winger built like a brick crap house. Add a playmaker to that line up and detroit has a finisher,....who else is dreaming of a Grigorenko (fully healed and ready to go) Dats, and zetts line.
