Filppula-Kopecky-Bootland New Force?

Well I'm following the Grand-Rapids & Cleveland game and once again this certain line is producing really well. And amazingly once again 4 3rd period goals. Filppula has really started to impress, Tomas Kopecky as an underachiever from couple of past seasons is also doing quite well, Bootland too.

Is this a new production line besides Hudler-Manlow-McDonell, even though they have not done very well lately in scoring in spite of Hudlers goal in this current game.

What can I say, don't you just love when you you suddenly find out a new great scoring line? Of course the question is for how long but I guess time will tell. Hopefully there will be no injuries to break the chemistry.

And from where this DiCasmirro popped out? Quite an effective scorer too.

That line had another big game tonight, with Filppula getting first star honours. He had a goal and two assists, Bootland had a goal, and Kopecky had two assists. Meanwhile Valtteri is moving up the ladder of rookie AHL scoring. He's up there with guys like Fehr and Tambellini. I'm glad to see he's adjusting well to NA game after somewhat of a shaky start.

BTW, Jimmy Howard had a solid game as well, grabbing the second star.

I wonder what's happened with Hudler's line.  He's been very quiet the last 3-5 games (relative to his earlier blazing start).

peace

Hudler didn't play tonight, he has a slight sore ankle. This shows how good the Griffs are they played without their top scorer and didn't miss him at all. Bootlands goal was a really nice finish, he went in on the goalie dragged it to the left and fed it through the gap. Kopecky is starting to play like the power forward he should be, he is hitting well. This line has the perfect balance, it has Flippers finesse with Bootlands grit and Kopeckys shot. Another guy that i am impressed with is Kent McDonell he is alot grittier than i thought, he doesn't shy away from a hit and he is fast as hell. Big Greg Amadio is impressing me more and more as i watch him, he never makes a mistake or takes any dumb penalties, Ireland is rewarding him with more and more ice time every game.

I don't think he even played tonight. I guess he had some minor injury or something, that's probably been nagging him for the past couple of games or so.

Well Filppula's Line has made 27 points altogether in last four games, that's really fantastic.

Filppula has 5+6=11 points in last four games, combining total of 18 points and +10

Kopecky has 1+8=9 points in last 4 games, 15 points during all 17 games and +14

Bootland has 2+5=7 points in last four games, 11 points and +7 whole season.

Clearly we can see that this line is rising high. As I live in Estonia, a small country next south to Finland, I had many many opportunities to see Filppula play for SM-Liiga, that is the Finnish top hockey league, and he did really well. After he was drafted he was more like a adjusting with fast and aggressive play in SM-Liiga (it has turned aggressive during the last 5 years) but couldn't really contribute, of course even 18 points on a rookie season there is really terrific. Suddendy he was part of the best young guns in SM-Liiga and many experienced and very good Finnish players couldn't keep up with him.

So basicly if he will have a good first year in America, I think Finnish hockey aggressiveness has helped him alot to settle there, he was pretty much thrown around in Finland, when he didn't have much bulk on him.

Damn I hope he shakes the ground, starting in AHL. biggrin.gif

You can thank Bootland mostly. It's a perfect line of finesse, powerful shot, and grit. Bootland has been outstanding, Filippula has been great and Kopecky has been the beneficary. I'd rather see Bootland get the call up, especially for a forth line role

Kopecky's production has been fluctuating all the time, so I wouldn't be surprised if this week he would be barely noticable. Of course let's hope all the best, but as it was told before the start of the season, this is the year Kopecky has one more chance to prove he is a worthy player. It was a miracle anyway that he got one more year and management has still a belief that he will contribute this year, but let's talk about that when the season is over. Just happy to see he is important for the team right now.

Bootland scored again last night, it was 2-1 to the Moose with 4 minutes left in the third, Kopecky had a nice feed to put Booter in on the break away but instead of going in on the goalie Booter lets it rip from the top of the circle straight into the top left corner. This goal was an absolute rocket of a shot and Bootland now has 12 points 19 games. Oh and Booter also had another scrap, he has 10 fights this year aswell.

Im sorry but Im still not fully sold on Kopoecky. The dude has been so inconsistant, sometimes he plays as a hasbeen sometimes as a AHLer 2nd liner. Reminds me of Hudler last year. Hmmm maybe Babcock should give him a talking to.

Any link when he said that Seth? I'd like to see Bootland up here too.

A simple yes with the link or no works.

hmm good question I know I say it somewhere in the DPress but after looking (I;ll admit for like only a min or 2) I couldn't find. Ya Boots is needed, regardless of Hudlers play we need toughness. My only thing is has Bootland's game improved overall or is it just his chemestry in GR? I'm hoping but clearly we can only wait and see.

Bob Kaser, the Griffins announcer said that Bootland is playing the best hockey of his career and that all the people that he has spoken to around the franchise are saying the same. In the last two games Bootland has hit the post 5 times, he is turning into a real offensive threat when he is on the ice and he has been great in toughness department for the Griffins this year aswell. He has 15 points so far and he also leads the league in fighting majors aswell.
