Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

I just heard on 1050am that WJBK here in Detroit said that there was a big meeting after the game and Mooch wasn't there.......

They are talking like he is going to be canned tomorrow......

A little more on the situation.......

They are meeting again tomorrow (Once again w/out Mooch there)

and they say Dick Jauron would take over for him

it comes as no surprise. How many penalties last game, and this one? Next they need to fire the entire offensive line. More so than the coaching, the O-line is abysmal - they can't protect the QB and they can't block for the run. Kelly Butler must be pretty decent, because the moment he went out with an injury, Patrick Kerney absolutely abused his replacement. Raiola is a putz though, as is Kyle Kosier, Woody is nowhere near Pro Bowl level (or even Motor City Bowl level), and DeMulling is a total flop. I'll give Backus a pass, he's playing hurt. Anybody else isn't even worth a mention.

and the entire offensive scheme blows. if Mooch is indeed out the door, I'd better not hear anything about what a great West Coast offense the new coach brings to the table, whether it's now or when a permanent one is hired in the offseason. Ditch the Wet Toast. Send Charles Rogers packing (thanks for nothing, MSU, Mateen Cleaves sucked too). Pollard and Mike Williams should be ashamed of themselves for the passes they keep dropping, but kept, for now.

Finally, I'm still driving the Trade for Matt Schaub bandwagon!

And by the way, I'm'a be pissed if y'all are telling me a tale and there isn't a changing of the guard in the head coach's office. Sometimes firing the coach immediately is the best way to tell the players "you guys, collectively, suck."

Team sources told Clayton that the Ford family, which owns the team, is in Florida. Players were in for an hour for routine film review, then were released until Monday.

One source close to the Lions situation told ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli that the mood in the team offices on Friday morning was "absolutely business as usual," and another source insisted Mariucci's dismissal was "not imminent."

Anyone else think this is a HUGE part of the problem? Granted, it's Thanksgiving weekend and players need to be with their families. But "business as usual" should not have been the plan of the day. Mariucci, if he wants to save his job, owes it to the organization to put in some extra work and maybe put the guys in pads for a little effort in the morning, since they obviously didn't put any forth the day before.

Methinks this has more to do about Jauron accepting the interim coaching duties than it is about if Mooch is fired. Maybe, anyway.

He's definitely getting canned. It's not a matter of if, but when.

It's really infuriating, this casual "business as usual" attitude the Lions have. The Lions business as usual is to lose. Either they need to fire Mooch yesterday, or they need to come out and say "look, Mooch is the coach so piss off and let everyone do their jobs." The way they're handling this absolutely sucks.

I don't know if it's his fault but, we do have a major problem. Way I look at it we'll get rid of him and bring in someone else who won't have the players to do anybetter. I think the team owners are the only ones who can really be blamed for the current state of the team.

Hell it's easy to blame the coach and I'm not saying not too but, no matter who they bring in the coach the team it's not going to really matter. In his defense atleast he hasn't taken the wind in OT yet. wink.gif
