How is two goals allowed s***ty?

Because the Wings scored one goal. I'm no Manny hater and he may some very good saves but, when your team is having a hard time putting it past the other goalie, a huge stop [or not] on one of those breakaways can be THE difference between a win or a loss.

As mentioned somewhere above, I have this nagging hangover-like feeling that we've got two 1B [not 1A] goalies. A good deal for $2 million, but not likely to carry us to the promised land...unless one or the other gets HOT.

he gave up 2 f**king goals these last 2 games anyone whos blameing manny is a moron. it was this god damn inconsistent offence.

Second that. Some of you are saying that he allowed 2 bad goals...that he goes down too early...well in what alternate universe is 1 goal called supporting the goalie? And that goal...was scored by a d-man! When I said last night that Manny didn't play bad everyone told me when your team has an off night in the scoring department the goalie needs to step in. Well, tonight the same old thing. To win a game these past games Manny would have to have under a goal and a half against a game. That is unbelievable. Ozzie will get the nod on Thursday b/c the team simply isn't supporting Manny or well, not playing for him. But please don't go saying Manny played bad b/c as far as I am concerned he made awesome saves in the first and was beat only on breakaways.

Ahh...this is what I am talking about. When Manny lets in two goals and loses it is his fault. When Ozzie does it the team just isn't supporting him. Go figure. Instead of blaming Manny, lets blame our lack of offense these past two games. How about that.

VOKOUN will always defeat the Red Wings alone lol

Or so it seems that way now...

We will be swept by Nashville in the playoffs lol

There is no way were gonna beat this club.

We already did, it's not like they beat us that convincingly.

Well yeah we did beat them - but then Kippy destroyed us. lol

I don't see the same happening though lol

lol

I don't think he necessarily played bad, but it doesn't matter, really--I think that's the last we'll see of Manny for a while.

Seeing the way Babcock's done things this season...I doubt it. It really wouldn't even surprise me at this point if he announced that Manny will be starting the game against Vancouver on Thursday, defying all logic.

Someone asked if Babcock has said anything about goaltending postgame... I was listening to 1270 with half an ear.

What I heard him say was goaltending is certainly part of "it" and there are 6 guys on the ice at all times. Then he stopped and qualified that with "well, not tonight." But then he just went on to say that when you're facing a good goalie that you can't make him look better than he is. I guess basically saying he didn't think the Wings faught for the ice in front of Nashville's net enough.

I didn't hear him say anything specifically addressing Legace's play or about who will play Thursday.

I think he said they're taking a day off tomorrow, but don't quote me on that. I was only half listening. Did anyone else hear that? It isn't the decision I would make in his shoes. But he said something about recharging mentally. user posted image

Sometimes you've got to step up and get the job done - that's what those millions of dollars going into your pockets are for - to WIN GAMES!!! thumbdown.gif thumbdown.gif thumbdown.gif

Tell that to the 16 skaters who didn't put the puck in the net for Detroit over the 2 games. Why should they be excused from blame?

No, I'm not leaving them out, especially Shanny, who seems to have the talent to miss a wide open net from three feet out.

flaming legace is an outrage, he has done nothing to deserve it tonites game any more than the rest of the team, he deserves it alot less. Some people are acting like he let in terrible goals tonite, which he hasnt even done all season.

I certainly wouldn't pin the loss tonight on Legace, but if you think he hasn't let in a bad goal all season, you haven't been watching.

Like someone previously said, we have two 1B goalies.

Mainly I'm concerned about these losses because it seems the Wings are incapable of winning tight games.

Babcock even said on DSR in his post game press conference that Manny cannot be faulted for the loss.

You people are never happy!

Manny is, and will continue to be the #1 guy...Babcock proved today by playing manny in 2 games in 2 nights that he has zero confidence is Osgood, and he is well justified.

If we want to get into Osgood's "stellar" December, we will.

His GAA during his reign was a 2.7. I dont know about the rest of you, but I'm am in awe.

If that is what the Osgood fans are bragging about, that is really sad.

I have one word for them "October"

I'm sorry but Legacy needs to learn how to stop a damn fast break. Granted its a defensive break down and its the teams fault but jesus Legacy went down way to early and gave the whole up stairs to both Karyia and Sullivan.... He needs to wait longer.

just my 2 cents

Let's just stop blaming Legace for the loss and look at the pathetic effort given by our offense and the stupid penalties taken by our defensemen. Schneider had three and Chelios had two. Thats way too many penalties for two of our top four defensemen.

Chelios has been problem all year. He takes way too many penalties and he scoring is way down. He should retire, we don't need him! And I for one would love to see him go! Let him eat chili or something, just don't come to the Joe anymore!

Look around at any game, 2-3 Chelios jerseys, he is simply not a favorite.

IMO, Chelios, even with the penalties, played a pretty solid game. He is great on the penalty kill. If I am not mistaken, I think he was even the second star of the game.

WHOOOOOO red wings reign is over...... nashville is moving in baby!!!!!!!!!

Vokoun is a freakin wall!!!

when nashville wins their 3rd cup, get back to me. in the interim, they're nobodies who have proven nothing. zip. nada.

oh, hell: when they make it to the second round of the playoffs--which i'm sure will be a banner-raising time in country city--get back to me.

laugh.gif

thats right...we will raise a banner to show our appreciation of our team...unlike detriot fans who are so cocky after we raise our 3rd stanly cup huh? haha wow u are hilarious... hmm lets see, how many years have the preds been in the league and how many has detriot... and guess what, the past is the past. it means nothing now so your argument is ridiculous good try though

I have one word for them "October"

Against such fearsome opponents as Columbus (twice), St Louis (also twice), the Ducks, and a Calgary team that barely even knew what hockey WAS (4 wins in 13 games in Oct).

It's impressive how well Manny played in October, yes. I'm not taking away from that. But the schedulers did have a helping hand in that record, no doubt...

I have three words for that. "Three months ago."

I'd absolutley love to see Manny go on another tear, but I don't think he's playing with half the confidence now that he had back then.

Well I have one more word for you then, because I am sure that you act like 1998 was yesterday.....8 YEARS AGO!!!!

You guys need to calm the hell down. This game was NOT Manny's fault. Not at all. He can't even be blamed for a second. The Wings had 39 shots on Vokoun..and he was stopping everything. Legace played very well, and not many goalies are going to stop that backander by Kariya.

Agree, I still think he's useful for PK's. Just don't use him so much on the 5 on 5 and definatly not on 4 on 4 OT.
